Application March 19, 1940, Serial No. 324,753 3 Claims. (Cl. 2-73) This invention relates to slips and has for an At the back the slip is provided with an elastic object to provide a slip having novel and impanel l4 extending across the entire back from proved characteristics. the hips to the top of the slip. The elastic panel Another object is to provide a slip which is I4 is also provided with downwardly extending 6 neat and pleasing in appearance, possesses body portions l at the back and sides adapted to pro control characteristics and fits closely over a vide suflicient elasticity for shaping and moldfoundation garment. ing the corresponding portion of the slip and Other objects and advantages will become apholding the same in conformity with the figure parent as the nature of the invention is more without wrinkles or puckers. The panel I4 is 10 fully disdosed, preferably made of a thin, open, light-weight 10 Although the novel features which are believed astic a v g a high ratio of St en h to be characteristic of this invention will be more and p to e ght. The invention is only to be limited in accordance with the scope of the following claims.
I claim:
1. A slip comprising a skirt section, a front midrifi panel and a bust section all of inelastic material and a back panel of elastic fabric stretchable circumferentially and extending across the entire back'from substantially the hipline to the top of theslip, said back panel being joined at the sides to said midrifl panel and to said bust section and being substantially co-extensive therewith to cover the back of the wearer, said elastic fabric having suflicient stretch to permit the slip to be put on or removed without'iastenings and having sufllcient pull to cause the midriif panel and bust section to conform to the figure of the wearer, said elastic panel having a plurality of downwardly extending triangular tabs spaced across the bottom thereof, said tabs having inclined edges forming substantially the entire lower edge of the elastic panel, said skirt section being joined to said inclined edges whereby the elastic panel may stretch horizontally without wrinkling or puckering the inelastic skirt section joined thereto. v
2. Aslipassetiorthinclaimlhavinganinner midriff panel at the front extending at the sides to the elastic back panel and extending vertically from the hipline to beneath the busts so as to impart strength and control characteristics to the garment, said outer and inner midrifl panels having difierent cuts, the threads of the two panels crossing at an angle to each other so as to reduce the tendency to stretch to impart additional support to the bust section,
said straps being positioned on the inside of the back panel and concealed thereby.
