Description

W. KIG-HTL INGE R. Game Apparatus.
No. 222,710. Patented Dec. 16, I879.
' FFIGE.
WILLIAM KIGHTLINGER, OF MARYSVILLE, OHIO.
IMPROVEMENT IN GAME APPARATUS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 222,710, dated December 16, 1879 application filed May 29, 1879.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WILLIAM KIGHTLINGER, of Marysville, in the county of Union and State of Ohio,.have invented certain I mprovements in Game Apparatus; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, sufficient to enable others skilled in the art to which my invention appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, in which drawings- Figure 1 is a perspective view of my improved toy wheel, and Fig. 2 is a vertical section thereof.
This invention has relation to improvements in gaming-tables; and it consists of a hori' zontally-arranged table with its face or periphery divided off into numbered spaces of two or more sections, disposed with relation to indicators, which table is adapted to be rotated horizontally by mechanism driven by a suitable motor, substantially as hereinafter more fully set forth.
In the accompanying drawings, A refers to a frame or support supported on feet a a, restin g on the floor or other convenient place. B
is the table, arranged or disposed in a horizontal position, with its under side provided with a central disk or bearing, 1), resting on the upper connecting-pieces of the frame A, and to which is connected a vertical shaft, 0, hearing at its lower end in the lower connecting-piece of frame A, as seen in Fig. 2. Upon this shaft is fitted a horizontal beveled cogwheel, d, gearing with a vertical similar but enlarged cog-wheel, 6, whose shaft f is supported in a post, 9, fastened to frame A, and in one of the uprights of the said frame, as shown, or in any other suitable way.
Around the table h, on the outer end of the shaft f, is designed to be passed a belt connecting with a suitable motor, by which the table is turned or whirled by machinery, and not by hand, as heretofore.
The periphery or face of the table is divided off into two, three, or four or more sectional numbered spaces, according to and to permit a number of persons or juveniles to participate in the play simultaneously, each section of spaces having a number of figures, consecutive or otherwise in order, as will be more readily understood by reference to Fig. 1.
In the upper surface of the table, in line with the division-marks between the figures on its face, are pins i i, which may serve to indicate at a glance the number of spaces on the table.
The face or periphery of the table may consist of a deep ring or flange, j, with beaded or rounded edges, and fastened to the disk of the table.
0 C are indicators, fastened one to each of the four, or more or less, uprights of the frame A, and extending upwardly opposite the face or periphery of the table B, with their upper ends provided with inwardly-projectingleather or other pieces 70 k, overhanging the edge of the table, to point out more clearly the numbers or figures on the table brought opposite the indicators G with the stopping of the ta ble after it has spent its force, it having been previously subjected to a whirling or intermittent rotary motion through its operative mechanism.
Each participant in the play has awarded to him, or rather scores down, each figure coming opposite his indicator upon the stopping of the wheel after each of a series of revolutions, each participant endeavoring to record the greatest number of scores, thus creating a stimulating and animating recreation or play.
Having thus fully described my invention, I claim and desire to secure by Letters Pat cut- 1. In a game apparatus, the revolving horizontal table B, whose face or periphery j is divided off into sectional numbered spaces, each section of spaces having a number of figures, either consecutive or otherwise in order, in combination with two or more indicators fixed to the table-supporting frame, and arranged, in relation to the face or periphery of the table, substantially as and for the pur- In testimony whereof I hereto affix my pose set forth. mark in presence of two subscribing Wit- 2.
