. The present invention relates to collapsible dis play ,devices' particularly adapted for the display of merchandise and has for a; general ob ject the pro-vision of such, a device which is e'fil cient, is easily and economically constructed, and is of simple construction which permits it to be folded readily into a substantially fiat condi tion allowing is to be handled and transported with ease and to be expanded easily and simply 10 into display position. i i I p .1
A more'specific object of the invention is the provision of such a device constructed of suitably stifi materialsuch as card ard which is provided with means adapted efiiciently to hold the device in an expanded display condition when supported by suspending means, the holding, means being operable in a manner permittingready folding of the device into substantially flat condition adaptedto easy handling and efiicient 2o s n .v 1 A further object is. the provision of a display device characterized by a collapsiblehollow may provided inside with bracing means; which is easily manipulated to a bracing positionefiiciently to hold the device in expandedc0ndition'when suspended by supporting means associated with the bracing means, the latter being also readily operable in a simple manner permitting col lapsing of the device into a substantiallyflat f m 1 v Other objects or the inventi'onwill in part be obvious and will in part. appear hereinafter, I
The invention accordingly comprises the. tea; tures of constructiomncombination of elements 35. and arrangement of parts,. which will: bev exemf plified in the construction hereinafter set forth and the scope of the invention will; be indicated in; the claims.

"I'hev display' device of the present invention is in the form of a'hollowbody of suitable stiff material such as-cardboard' or the like which can be collapsed into substantially .flat form for of the ingminimumspace. The hollow body may be in any desired shape which will permit it beingcollapsed, for example, in the shape of a hollow ""id or afsegment thereof. The

The portion [6 is apertured at 19 opposite the side which is attached to the hinge flap l'l.
The hollow body of the display is formed by securing the pasting panel I4- to the inner surface of the end panel or side 12 and the bracing member 16 is mounted therein by securing in any suitable mannersuch as by pasting the hinge flap I! to the inner surface of one of the panels l2 at a position where the bracing member is substantially of the same shape and size as a cross section of the hollow pyramidal body inexpanded position.
A suspending member 20 suchj as a stringfis device is collapsed as shown in Fig. 3 with the bracing member 5 swung down to lie flat between opposed panels l2", l2, thedevice, can' be expanded to display position by simply exerting a pull upon the suspending member 20 to swing the bracing member 16 to'the position shown in Fig. 5." Itis intended to support the display device in a display position by means of the suspending member 2Q, a ring 2| attached to the end thereof being engaged over a suitable sup-; port 22 thereby to hold the body of the display device in expanded position.
When it is desired to collapse the expanded display device to insure ease in handling, trans-, porting and shipping andso that it willoccupy a minimum amount of space, the bracing memher It is retracted'or swung from the bracing position by a pull on any suitable means attached to the bracing member;suchasfastring 23 also secured to the bracing member by tying through the aperture 19. e I The display device may be provided 'withany suitable means for supporting thereon merchandise to be displayed." For'example, the'panels may be provided with a plurality of fingers or tongues 2424'which areformed by slitting the stiff material of the body and bending outward ly' the so-formed fingers or tongues f'asshown'i Such a structure is particularly adapted for the display of packets of ribbon 25-25 having binding bands 26-26 surrounding theirmid-sections and adapted to be engaged over jthe'tongues or fingers 24-24. It will be understo'od,flhowever, that any suitable means of supporting mer'chan dise upon, the-outer surfaces of the'body'ofthe display device may be usedand that the device isadapted fordisplay of "a variety ofv types of merchandise and article in a mannerparticularly adapted to ready inspection. and selection.
Itwill thus be seen. that the presentin'ventlon efficiently attains the objects set forth above and since certain changes may be made in the above construction and different embodiments of the invention could be made without departingfrom the scope thereof, it is intended that all matter contained in the above description or shown in the accompanying drawing shall be interpreted as illustrative and not in a limiting sense. It is also to be understood that the following claims are intended to cover all of the generic and specific features of the invention herein described, and all statements of the scope of the invention which, as a matter of language, might be said to fall therebetween. f v Having described my invention, what I claim as newand' desire to secure by Letters Patent, iszj 1. A collapsible display device" comprising a hollow body formed from sheet material having fold lines whereby it may be collapsed to sub themember thereby permitting opposed sides of the body to be flattened adjacent each other with the memberjying flat therebetween when the latterlis swung out of bracing position, and a suspending member attached at one end to said "bracing memberand extending to the outside of Said 0 13 for supporting the samein expanded position.

3. A oollapsible 'display device comprising a hollow body, formed-from sheet material having fold lines wherebyit may be collapsed to substantially flat form' with opposed sides substantially lying "adjacenteach other, a substantially flat bracing member of relatively rigid sheet material having an edge'thereof hinged on the inside of said hollow body and shaped to hold the body in expanded position and movableto permit collapsing'ofthe'body', said' member being of such shape as to lie whollywithin the boundaries of the area of a cross-section of the body taken at theQlocation' ;of the hinge-mounting of the member thereby permitting opposed sides of the body to'bdflattenedadjacent each other with the member lying flat therebetween when the latter is swung out of bracingposition, and a suspendingfmember'attached at one end to the portion of said bracing member opposite the portion' hinged to the hollow body and extending to the outside, of said body for supporting the same inexpanded 'position'.
4. A collapsible display'device comprising a hollow body of pyramidal shape formed from sheet materia 1 having fold linesfwhereby it may be collapsed to substantially flatjform with op posed sides substantially ,lying-adjacenteach" othe r;' a substantially fiatbracing member of relatively rigid sheet material having an .edge thereof hinged to the inner surface of one side and shaped to hold said, hollow body in expanded position; said member being ofl such shape as to lie'who'lly within the boundaries of the area of a cross-section of the body taken at the location of the hinge-mounting of the member thereby permitting opposed sides of the body to be flattened adjacent each other with the member lying flat therebetween when the latter is swun out of bracing position, a string attached to said bracing member and extending through the vertex of said body for supporting the same in expanded position, and means accessible at the bottom of said body to permit the bracing memher to be swung out of bracing position.
5. A collapsible display device comprising a I hollow body of pyramidal shape formed from fiat bracing member of relatively rigid sheet material having an edge thereof hinged to the inher surface of one side and shaped to engage the inner surfaces of all sides of the hollow body when in expanded position, the shape of the bracing member permitting opposed sides of the body to be flattened adjacent each other with the member lying flat therebetween when the latter is swung out of bracing position, a suspending string attached to the portion of said bracing member opposite the portion hinged to the side of said body and extending through the vertex of said body, and a pulling string attached to the first-mentioned portion of said bracing member and accessible through the open bottom.
