Application March 19, 1940, Serial No. 324,751 V 2 Claims.A (Cl. yB12-141) This invention relates to storage receptacles for receiving and storing clothing and the like and has particular reference to an improved receptacle provided with laterally slidable door or closure sections and the same is in the nature of an improvement on the construction of the sliding door receptacle patented in my United States Letters Patent No. 2,183,131'dated Decg12, 1939. y In the aforesaid Letters Patent the door is of thebendable type and is downwardly slidable for opening the` same which necessitates the provision of means adjacent the bottom of the receptacle forV guiding the lower portion of the door into overlying relationship with the bottom wall thereof when the door is moved intoiopen condition.

'Ihe invention aims to provide a receptacle with door sections which are laterally slidable for opening the same and which avoid the use of a longitudinally bendable door and with means for elfecting the bending thereof when moved into open condition.

The invention also provides in a receptacleof theindicated character, a frame structure for connecting and securing the receptacle sections together and for mounting the Vdoor vsections for relative lateral sliding movement.

The invention .further provides a receptacle composed of a body section and upper and lower end sections which sections are each formed with inwardly directed front wall portions having grooved framing strips secured over thefree longitudinal edges thereof, the framing strips of the end sections intertting with the framing strips of the body section for securing the secv tions together and to provide a framed door opening with horizontal door guides and vertically disposed door stops for limiting the opening of the door sections and for sealing the outer edges thereof when in closed relation.

'I'he receptacle further includes a framel struc-4 ture, designated generally by the reference char-V acter 20, which includes upper and lower trans` verse strips 2| and 22, the upper strip 2| having its upper edge provided with a longitudinal groove 23 and the lower strip 22 having its lower edge provided with a longitudinal groove 24 to respectively receive and engage over the inner marginal edges of the inwardly directed front wall portions I8 and I9. The frame structure20 also includes vertically extending transversely spaced strips 25 and 26 having the outer corners of the outer faces thereof rabbeted as at 21 to receive and engage over the inner marginal edges of the inwardly directed side wall portions I3 and I4 respectively of the -body section.

The vertically extending strips 25 and 26 have their inner edges notched as at 28 and the transverse strips 2| and 22 have their inner faces opposite ends of the inwardly directed side wall portions I8 and I9 in overlying relationship with the opposite ends of the inwardly directed front wall portions I3 and I4, the transverse strips 2I and 22 having their confronting edges longitudinally grooved as at 3I and 32 to provide door guides. A pair of door sections 33 and 34 are provided, each including a panel 35 and vertically extending strips 36 and 31 of wood or other rigid material having their inner confronting corners rabbeted as at 38 for receiving the vertical op.-v posite side edges of the panels, and the upper and lower ends of the vertically extending strips 36 and 31 are cut away to provide upstanding and depending tongues39 and 40 disposed intermediate the front to rear width thereof and which correspond in thickness to and align with the upper and lower edges of the panels. The upper and lower edges of the door panels 35'and the upstanding and depending tongues 39 andIII) of the strips 36 and 31 Aare respectively mounted in the grooves 3l and 32 for transverse guided sliding movement for opening and closing the door sections 33 and 34. .The vertically extending strips 36 and 31 extend beyond the inner face of the panels 35 to provide shoulders/4I -and42 which engage -with the vertically extending strips 25 and 26e-respectively for limiting the opening of the door Vsections and for sealing the 'outer edges thereof when in closed relation, The vertical strip 36 of the door section 33 is provided with `a sealing cleet 43 which is adapted when the door sectionsfare `closed to overlap and seal the abutting door strips 36. What is claimed is: Y 1. In a storage receptacle, a body section having inwardly directed oppositely disposed front Wall portions, upper -and Ylowerend sections each having an inwardly directed front wall portionv which overlies the front wall portions of the'body section, -a frame structure securing said inwardly directed front wall portions togetherv and providing a door opening, said frame structure including grooved upper and lower transverse strips in which grooves the free edges of the inwardly ldirected front wall portions of said end sections are secured respectively, transversely spaced vertical strips having the outer corners of theirV outer faces rabbeted in which rabbeted portions the free edges of the inwardly directed front wall portions of said body sections are secured respectively, said vertical and transverse strips respectively having their confronting edges and inner faces notched for interfitting engagement, and means engaging the intersecting notched portions of said strips for securing the strips together and the sections in assembled relation, said transverse strips having their confronting edges grooved to provide door guides, and a pair of door sections mounted in said guide grooves for guided lateral sliding movement, said door sections each including a panel and vertically extending strips having the inner corners of their confronting edges rabbeted in which rabbeted portions the opposite vertical edges of the panel are secured and said vertical strips of the frame structure and the vertical strips of the door sections extending beyond the outer and inner faces of the inwardly directed front wall portions of the body section and the panels respectively and engagingwith eachother for limiting the opening of the door `sections and yfor sealing the outer edges thereofrwhen in closed relation. .A
