The present invention relates to attachments for tables and the like and has for its primary object to provide a device of this character adapted for clamping to the edge of a card table or similar supporting structure and adapted for holding a glass, ash-tray or similar object in position at the edge of the table.

A further object is to provide an attachment of this character constructed of a single strand of wire and embodying a clamping portion adapted for releasably clamping the holder to the table.

A still further object is to provide a device of this character of simple and practical construction, which is strong and durable, relatively inexpensive to manufacture and otherwise well adapted for the purposes for which the same is intended.

Other objects and advantages reside in the details of construction as more fully hereinafter described and claimed, reference being had to the accompanying drawing forming part hereof, wherein like numerals refer to like parts throughout, and in which- Figure 1 is a perspective view embodying one form of the invention and illustrating the same in position relative to the table.

Referring now to the drawing in detail and with particular reference to Figures 1 and 2 of the drawing, the numeral 5 designates the holder generally which includes a ring portion 6 of wire material, the wire at one side of the ring being bent axially in parallelism to provide a pair of legs I and 8, respectively, one of the legs designated by the numeral 8 being formed of one end portion of the wire, and said legs being secured against relative movement by a plate 9 having its end edges rolled inwardly to form substantially longitudinally split tubes l9 within which the legs are frictionally clamped. The leg 1 extends entirely through one of the tubes Hi and outwardly thereof to form a spring wire clamping jaw designated generally at I I, the jaw being bent to form spaced parallel side portions l2 inclined inwardly with respect to the legs I and 8, the side portions being connected by a cross member [3 on which is journalled a roller M, the cross member I3 and roller l4 forming the free end portion of the jaw. The end portion l5 of the jaw member is inserted upwardly into the other of the tubular members 10 and terminates adjacent the end of the leg member 8, the two ends of the wire forming the holder thus being inserted into opposite ends of one of said tubular members It).

The jaw member II is adapted for clamping engagement with respect to the frame 16 at the under side of a card table or the like with the ring member 6 projecting outwardly horizontally from the edge of the table and adapted to receive a glass indicated by the dotted lines at H, or similar object, such as an ash-tray or the like.

In the form of the invention illustrated in Figure 3, the ring member is shown at l8 and at one side of the ring member the wire is bent upon itself to provide the spaced parallel legs l9 and 20 of double thickness which are secured in spaced parallel relation within the tubular portions 2| of the connecting plate 22.

The spring clamping member is shown at 23 which is formed as a continuation of said leg portions l9 and 29, and in this form of the invention the leg portions extend in the plane of the ring member 58 and the clamping member 23 extends from the inner ends of said legs and is adapted for clamping the holder to an edge portion of a table or the like with the ring member is projecting horizontally outwardly therefrom.

It is believed the details of construction and manner of use of the device will be readily understood from the foregoing without further detailed explanation.

Having thus described the invention, what I claim is:

1. A table attachment comprising a wire holder including a ring portion, parallel leg members each formed of a double thickness of the wire and projecting radially from one edge of the ring portion, a rigid plate having tubular portions receiving the respective leg members and a resilient wire clamping member extending outwardly from said tubular portions and cooperating with said leg members for clamping the holder to a supporting structure.

2. A table attachment comprising a wire member, including a ring formed at an intermediate portion of the wire and a pair of spaced parallel legs extending from the ring, one of said legs being also formed from an intermediate portion of the wire and the other leg being formed from the ends of the wire disposed in endwise relation and a rigid plate having tubular portions receiving the respective legs, said wire member also having a portion positioned in spaced parallel relation to the plate to form a clamping jaw cooperating with the plate to secure the holder to a supporting structure.

A table attachment comprising a Wire holder including a split ring portion and a clamping portion adapted to clamp the holder to a supporting structure, said clamping portion including a pair of spaced parallel legs formed as a continuation of the split edges of the rings and a rigid plate connecting said legs against relative movement and securing the ring against expanding and contracting movement.

A table attachment comprising a wire holder including a split ring portion and a clamping portion adapted to clamp the holder to a supporting structure, said clamping portion including a pair of spaced parallel legs projecting coaxially with the ring portion at the split edges of the latter and a rigid plate having tubular portions receiving the respective leg members and securing the ring against expanding and con- BERNARD NIBUR.
