SHUTTLE-BOX FOR LOOMS.

Specification of Letters Patent No. 22,420, dated December 28, 1858.

To all whom t 'may concern:

Be it known that I, A. F. GIBBONEY, of the township of Union, of the county of Mifflin and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Improvement on ShuttleBoXeS for Power-Looms; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the construction of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawings, making a part of thisl specification, in which- Figure l is a perspective view, and Fig. 2 a side view, of the improved ily.

The nature of my invention consists in lengthening the fly A the full length of the shuttle box B, hinging it at the fulcrum C and attaching to the inner end of the ily A a half swell D to be properly adjusted by the set screw E. The force of the shuttle drives the picker F against the half swell D pressing it outward and reacting on the swell Gr, which binds on the shuttle and prevents it from bounding.

This improvement will cause a loom to run at varied speeds, lessen the friction and wear and tear on the shuttles and picking bands also overcome the necessity of having so much tension von the fly spring H.

l/Vhat I claim as my invention and desire to secure by Letters Patent is- The .half swell D on the inner end of the fly A to be operated on by the picker F as set forth.
