3 Claims.
This invention relates to stoves and more particularly to'two-fuel oven combustion stoves.
A principal object of the invention is the provision of means for simultaneously opening a normally closed secondary air inlet to and ue outlet from the oven of such a stove when gas is used as a fuel for heating the oven.
Another important object of theinvention is the provision of operating means for such opening means, which will simultaneously control the fuel supply to the ov'en burner or the broiler burner of the oven.
Numerous other objects and advantages of the invention will be apparent as it is better understood from the following description, which, taken in connection with the accompanying drawing, discloses a preferred embodiment thereof.

Fuel'is supplied to the broiler burner I6 and oven burner I1 by pipes I8 and I9, respectively, which are controlled by a two-way valve mechanism 2l, of any desired construction, connected to a main supply pipe 22. 'I'he valve 2| is controlled by a rod 23 suitably mounted for rotation in the frame or walls of the stove II and having an operating handle 24 secured to its forward end,-whereby the direction of rotation of handle 24 will determine whether fuel will be supplied to oven burner I1 or broiler burner I8.
Rigidly Asecured to the vrodl 23 adjacent the `valve 2I is one end of a lever 25, the other end of which is pivotally secured to the upper end of a depending lever 25, the lower.end of which is pivotally connected at 21 to a horizontal extension or lug 28 on a plate member 29. The plate member 29 has a vertical slot II therein which engages and co-operates with a pair of ing the invention, with part of the clean-out jacent the top, and an ogen burner I1 in the bot-v bolts or lugs 32 secured in any suitable manner to the rear wall I5 of the stove il.
Rlgidly secured in any desired manner to the rear wall I5 is a U-shaped member 33 which, with lsaid wall, constitutes the` lower portion of the usual flue that leads to a stack (not shown), and has a clean-out aperture 34 conveniently located therein and normally closed by a plate 35.
Adjacent the plate 29, the member 33 is or may be provided with a laterally extending lug 36 Aadapted to assist in maintaining the plate 29 against the rear wall I5 and, together with the slot 3l and pins 32, in guiding it in its vertical movement, the function of which will be later described.
An aperture 31 is provided in the upper part of the rear wall I5 which constitutes a ue outlet or opening from the oven I2 to the flue delined by the 4wall I5 and the member 33. The flue outlet 31 is normally closed by a plate or member 38. An extension 39 of the plate 38 extends to the right, viewing the drawing, through the left-hand end wall of the member 33, which point constitutes an effective pivot for the member 39. The protruding end of the extension 39 co-operates with a suitable hole in the upper end of a vertical extension 4I of the plate 29 so that when the plate 29 is in its lower or normal position, as illustrated, it will maintain the plate 38 in a substantially horizontal position to keep the ilue outlet 31 closed, and when plate 29 is raised, plate 38 will drop or be forced clockwise about its pivot point to open the flue outlet 31. In its lower position the plate 29 is also adapted to cover an aperture 42 in the rear wall I5 which constitutes a secondary air inlet to the oven I2 which will be opened when the plate 29 is raised.
When neither the oven gas burner I] nor the broiler burner I6 is in use, the secondary air inlet 42 and the nue outlet 31 are closed. In order to use either the burner I5 or the burner I1, handle 24 is rotated in one direction or the other, respectively, thus actuating the two-way valve 2I in known manner. Simultaneously with any actuation in either direction of handle 24, rod 23 actuates levers -25 and 25 to raise plate 29 to open the secondary air inlet 42 and the flue outlet 31.
It is thought that the invention and many of its attendant advantages will be understood from the foregoing description, and it willvbe apparent that various changes may be made in the form, construction and arrangement of the parts without departing from the spuit and scope of the invention or sacrificing all of its material advantages, the form hereinbefore described being merely a preferred embodiment thereof;
I claim:
1. In a stove having an oven, an oven burner, a broiler burner in said oven, a secondary air inlet p to said oven, a member normally closing saidsecondary air inlet, a flue outlet from said oven, and a second member normally closing said flue outlet; a'valve member operable in one direction to control the fuel supply to said oven burner and operable in the other direction to control the fuel supply to said broiler burner, and connecting devices between said valve member and said first member and between said rst member and said second member for operating said rst and second members simultaneously to open said secondary air inlet and said flue outlet when said valve member is operated in one direction or the other to supply fuel to said oven burner or said broiler burner.
2. In a stove having an oven, an oven burner in the lower part of said oven, a broiler burner v in the top of said oven, a vent for said oven, a damper normally closing said vent, a fuel supply for said burners, a valve controlling said fuel supply operable when turned in one direction to supply fuel to the oven burner and operable when turned in the opposite direction to supply fuel to the broiler burner, means connecting said damper to said valve whereby said damper is moved to open position when said Valve is turned to supply fuel to either of said burners.
3. In a stove having an oven, an oven burner,
a broiler burner in said oven, an aperture in a wall of said oven, a member normaly closing said aperture, a flue outlet from said oven, and a second member normally closing said flue outlet; a valve member operable in one direction to control the fuel supply to said oven burner and operable in the other direction to control the fuel supply to said broiler burner, and a connecting device between said valve member and said first member and between said rst member and said second member for operating said first and second member simultaneously to open said aperture and said flue outlet when said valve member is operated in one direction or the other to supply fuel to said oven burner or said broiler burner.
