,Y .Y `3Claims,`
` The invention relates to a vendin'g'machine'.v
'The primaryobject of theinventionis the provision` of V"a machine of this character, wherein through the vuse -of .a coin adetermined'amount of merchandise, such, forexample, als peanuts, ball chewing gum or candy pellets will be dispensed from the said machine and the coin deposited will `gravitate into a water container and by chance `caughtinto a depository which is `swingingly supportedwithin this Vcontainer and may be manipulated for the delivery ofy such vcoin caught'onto'- the bottom of the'container, thereby lending injterest'and attraction to a person When depositing or inserting a coin .in `.the machine..
l Another object of -theinvention is theV provision of a machine of this character, wherein merchandise can `be vended in a unique manner and through such vending the inserted coin for the control or operation of the machine will be delivered into a water container and therein maybe trapped in a depository which is clearly visible thus lending amusement and interest to the operator of the machine, the latter being of novel construction and is controlled by the insertion of a coin of a determined denomination for vending purposes.
A further object of the invention is the provision of a machine of this character, which is comparatively simple in its construction, thoroughly reliable and efficient in operation, neat in appearance, lending attraction in the operation thereof, and inexpensive to manufacture.
With these and other objects in View, the invention consists in the features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings, which disclose the preferred embodiment of the invention and pointed out in the claims hereunto appended.
In the accompanying drawings:
Figure 1 is a side elevation partly in vertical section of the machine constructed in accordance with the invention.
Figure 2 is a fragmentary Vertical sectional View taken at right angles to the section shown in Figure 1.
Figure 3 is a sectional view on the line 3 3 of Figure 1 looking in the direction of the arrows.
Similar reference characters indicate corresponding parts throughout the Several views in the drawings. l
Referring to the drawings in detail, the machine, which is of the coin controlled type, comprises a circular base I formed with a marginal (Cl. 27344-95)` Y supporting ilange `or rim Il providing 4a cavity `or space i2 in the under side of said base. This cavity i2 is normally closed by a cover plate i3 equipped'with asuitable lock lli of the key type `and coacting with .a keeper I5 formedon the base .i8 to be concealed withinsaid cavity or space l2 and in this manner the cover plate I3 is releasably locked and in this condition is in a seat I6 formed in the flange or Vrim Il4 at the inner periphery thereof.
Formed on the base and rising slightly therefrom at .diametrically opposite points are perrorated lugs or eyes il in which are removably .tted tie rods I8 havingthe threaded lower ends iii engagedby winged nuts 2l), these threaded* Yglass having an open mouth 22 on which is Vfitted a removable cap 23, it having a gasket 24 for sealing the cap when removably placed upon the mouth 22 of said container.V This cap interts a head 25 having theY perforated ears 26 for accommodating the Vtie rods I 8 so that the latter will separably fasten the head 25 in place and izrteriit with the cap 23 when upon the container The headV is constructed to accommodate therein suitable coin controlled mechanism (not shown) for the dispensing of merchandise from a globe-like carrier or receptacle 21 of glass, the merchandise being in the nature of shelled peanuts 28 as contained within this receptacle. However, it is to be understood that such receptacle may contain ball chewing gum, candy pellets or other like merchandise. This head is formed with acoin insert Vor receiving chute 29 adapted for the reception of a coin of a determined denomination or size for actuating the coin controlled mechanism whereby a determined quantity of merchandise can be delivered without the machine through a delivery trough 3G on actuating a trigger 3l which is released by the coin mechanism and acts as an operator for a shutter, gate or the like (not shown) for the dispensing ,of` the merchandise from the receptacle 21 through the trough 3U when acoin has beenV deposited in the machine.
The receptacle 21 has a removable cover V32 which is held secure and can only be removed when the head 25 is detached from the container 2| and when such cap is removed the receptacle 2'| can be lled with merchandise.
The head 25 centrally thereof is constructed on the insertion of a coin through the chute 29 to deliver this coin into a lead 33 opening into the container 2| and such lead extends through a suitable clearance 34 in the cap 23 when upon the mouth 22 of the container so that the coin will be freed into a quantity of Water or other liquid content 35 Within the said container 2| to gravitate in the direction of the bottom of the latter.
Removably fitted within the container 2| onto Y the bottom thereof is a spider 36 forming a cradle or holder 31 for swingingly supporting a depository or trap in the form of a small jug 38, it being removably tted in a split ring clamp 39 having trunnions 40 journaled in the cradle 31 for the vertical tilting or swinging of said jug 38. One of the trunnons 40 is formed with a crank 4| pivoted at 42 to an actuating or throw lever 43 which eX- tends upwardly through suitable clearances in the cap 23 and head 25 to be projected exteriorly of this head for manual manipulation. This level` 43 when manually actuated will cause the tilting of the jug 38 and the aim of the operator of the machine is to have the coin freed within the liquid Within the container 2I fall within the jug 38 and through manual manipulation of the lever 43 drops from such jug onto'the bottom of the container 2| interiorly thereof. This procedure lends amusement and interest to the operator of the machine.
The coins deposited within the container 2| are removed therefrom when the said container is taken from the machine, this requiring vthe removal of the head 25 and the detachment of the tie rods I8 from the base |0 of said machine.
What is claimed is:
1. A machine for use With a coin controlled vending mechanism comprising a base, a liquid filled container tting said base, a head covering the container and releasably tied with the base and disposed between the vending mechanism and the container, said head having an opening for the passage of a coin therethrough, and a coin receiving tiltable trap confined within the container beneath the opening in said head for the deposit of a coin admitted to said container from the coin controlled mechanism.
2. A machine for use with a coin controlled `vending mechanism comprising a base, a liquid filled container fitting said base, a head covering the container and releasably tied with the base, said head having an opening for the passage of a coin therethrough, a coin receiving tiltable trap confined Within the container beneath the opening in said head for the deposit of a coin admitted to said container from the coin controlled mechanism, and a manually operated lever accessible Without the head for tilting said trap.
3. A machine for use with a coin controlled vending mechanism comprising a base, a liquid lled container tting said base, a head covering the container and releasably tied with the base, said head having an opening for the passage of a coin therethrough, a coin receiving tiltable trap conned within the container beneath the opening in said head for the deposit of a coin admitted to said container from the coin controlled mechanism, a manually operated lever accessible Without the head for tilting said trap, and a spider forming a cradle Within the container for swingingly supporting the trap.
