Description

Dec. 7, 1937. A A
STOVE FOR DOMESTIC PURPOSES Filed Jan. 10, 1935 Qnmvntm Isak Rasanen S New My Patented Dec. 7, 1937 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE Application January 10, 1935, Serial No. 1,219 in Finland February 28, 1933 2 Claims.
This invention relates to a small and light stove which is inexpensive to manufacture and combines the advantages of a stationary stove with those of a transportable stove. The present invention has for its object to provide a stove whose heating efiiciency is high and one which will radiate the heat rapidly. It is chiefly intended as a heating stove, burning wood as fuel but it also may be used with coal, coke. sawdust or other fuels.
In the drawing:
Figure 1 is a vertical sectional View of a stove embodying my invention and taken on the line l-l of Figure 2.
Fig. 2 is a horizontal cross section on the line 2-2 of Fig. 1.
Fig. 3 is a vertical section on the line 3--3 of Fig. 1.
In the drawing, those parts shown cross hatched are either made of brickwork or cast of refractory material. In this brickwork or cast refractory material portion is located the combustion chamber l and below the latter is located the ash box 8. The combustion chamber is comparatively high so that it may contain a large quantity of fuel. At both sides of the combustion chamber there is a flue 3 which conducts the hot gases from the chamber i upwardly and rearwardly to a vertical chamber 4, the gases from fiues 3 flowing downwardly through chamber 4 to the bottom portion of the stove and escaping through a flue 5 which is located as shown at about the level of the ash pit. The chamber 4 on its lower portion is formed by the sheet metal cover l although the upper portion thereof may be made of refractory material and provided with a'lining of mineral material Ii. The lower portion, however, is composed of the sheet metal In only. When the combustion gases pass slowly downward along the chamber 4 the metal walls radiate the heat quickly to the room which is to be heated, while that portion of the stove which is made of brickwork or cast refractory material will keep the absorbed heat for some time even after the fire has been extinguished.
Air for combustion passes into the stove through openings 6 and I, certain of the openings discharging below the grate S and others discharging above the grate. The ash box 8 is located in the ash pit l2 below the grate.
The fuel is introduced through the fire door 2, which door is suitably air-cooled.
The stove of the present invention is of a very simple construction, inexpensive to manufacture but having nevertheless, a high efiiciency. As no special fuel container is used to be filled from the top, the construction shown and described 10 is thus simplified and the cost of manufacture kept at a low figure.
What I claim is:
1. A stove made of brickwork and sheet metal, said stove having a combustion chamber and a fire door for the introduction of the fuel into the combustion chamber, a grate and an ash pit at the bottom of the combustion chamber, a flue at each side of the combustion chamber for conveying the hot gases upwardly and then rearwardly, a chamber at the rear of the stove into the top of which the hot gas-es are delivered by said fiues to flow downwardly through said rear chamber, a fine at the bottom of the stove for conveying the gases from said rear chamber, the lower portion of said rear chamber having a sheet metal wall only for the rapid dissipation of heat to the room to be heated, substantially as described.
2. A stove, made of brickwork or cast refractory material and sheet metal, said stove having a combustion chamber and a fire door for the introduction of the fuel into the combustion chamber, a grate and an ash pit at the bottom of the combustion chamber, a flue at each side of the combustion chamber for conveying the hot gases upwardly and then rearwardly, a chamber at the rear of the stove into the top of which the hot gases are delivered by said fines to flow downwardly through said rear chamber, a flue at the bottom of the stove for conveying the gases from said rear chamber, the lower portion of said rear chamber having a sheet metal wall only for the rapid dissipation of heat to the room to be heated, the upper portion of said rear chamber being provided with a lining of mineral material.
