Application May 31,.
1 Claim.
An object of the invention is'to provide a simple, practical and inexpensive air conditioner- 5 of the character described.
Another object is to provide an air conditioner of the character described that is compact and can be installed substantially within the wall of a room or building.
A further object is to provide an air conditioner having a gas heating element and circulating means for air drawn from outside the room or recirculating the air in a room.
Other objects and advantages will appear and be brought out more fully in the following specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawing wherein:
Fig. 1 is a front view partly broken away of an embodiment of my invention and Fig. 2 is a cross sectional view of the same.
Referring more particularly to the drawing,
metal cabinet 6 adapted to be suitably mounted in a wall 1 of a room or other building structure and preferably immediately above the floor 8 thereof. A suitable grilled cover 9 is provided for cabinet 6. A gas 'burner 10 is suitably mounted within cabinet 6 and a plurality of ducts H are positioned within the cabinet and are adapted to lead air from an opening I2 in the bottom of cabinet 6 into the room through grill 8. A fan [3 driven by a motor ll being suitably positioned within the cabinet to force circulation of the air as described, a gas and fan control switch l5 suitably located in the upper portion of the unit and includes alcontrol valve in the 1,38) N0. (Cl. 128-90) gas inlet pipe I which returns to burner II and has a needle valve It for regulation of the amount of gas supplied to the burner. Pipe I8 is connected to a gas supply pipe ll and a pilot pipe II is also connected to pipe l! by valve ll. Switch I5 is further connected by wires 20 to motor 14 and wires 2| to a suitable source of power.
The operation of my invention should be apparent from the foregoing description. Turning the switch I! to the first notch starts the fan I! which will draw and circulate the air coming in at l2 and turning the switch to the second notch automatically turns on the gas burner Hi.
It will be understood that the foregoing description is illustrative only of my invention and that changes and modifications may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the subjoined claim.
Having described my invention, my claim is: An air conditioning apparatus, comprising a cabinet having an open grill covered front and an open lower end, a burner in the lower end of the cabinet close to the grill, -a plate in rear of the burner and having its upper end curved outwardly and terminating at the grill. a series of spaced plates extending parallel to the burner plate and having their upper ends curved outwardly and terminating some distance to the rear of the grill and forming a series of air ducts, and a fan in said cabinet above the burner and in front of the upper ends of the air ducts, whereby the fan draws the air through the ducts and discharges the air through theopen front around the burner plate.
HAROLD R. BOORMAN.
