Description

WELL CEMENTING APPARATUS 7 Filed Dec. 12, 1938 IN V EN TOR.
ATTORNEY shoe, drilling up the connecting member II and may advance further by drilling up the cement and the tail pipe and the nozzle at the lower end of the latter.
By enabling the tail pipe to be withdrawn into the casing during the lowering thereof, danger of having the tail pipe bent or brokenofi during this travel is obviated.
While I have shown the preferred form of my invention, it is to be understood that various changes may be made in its construction by those skilled in the art without departing from the spirit of the invention as defined in the appended claims.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. In combination, a cylindrical member adapted to be connected to the lower end of a well casing,an-elongated tube of a diameter considerably less than the cylindrical member to extend coaxially from the lower end thereof, and means slidably. connecting the cylindrical member and tube and closing the annular space between the exterior of the tube and the cylindrical member, said tube having an enlarged-head disposed above said-closure means and of a diameter appreciably less than that of the bore of said memberand said casing to permit free by-passing of fluid around said head in either axial direction,
said means having a coaxial bore through which said tube extends into the casing above said means;
2. In combination, a cylindrical member adapted to be connected to the lower end of a' well casing, an elongated tube of a diameter con-.
siderably less than the cylindrical member to extend coaxially from thelower end thereof, and
means slidably connecting the cylindrical meme berand tube and closing the annular space bewell casing, an elongated tube of a diameter considerably less than the cylindrical member to extend coaxially from the lowerend thereof, and.
means slidably connecting the cylindrical mem ber and tube and closing the annular space between the exterior of the tube and the cylindrical member,a whirler nozzle at the lower extremity of said tube; said means having a coaxial bore through which said tubeextends into the casing.
above said means. i
a cylindrical member 4. In combination, a cylindrical member adapted to be connected to the lower end of a well casing, an elongated tube of a diameter considerably less than the cylindrical member, means slidably connecting the cylindrical member and tube to enable the tube to be withdrawn into the casing and projected therefrom by fluid pressure and closing the annular space between the exterior of the tube and the cylindrical member, and a nozzle at the lower end of the tube, said means having a coaxial bore through which said tube extends into the casing above said means.
'. 'Inxcombination with a cylindrical member adapted to be connected to the lower end of a well casing, an elongated tail pipe of a diameter considerably'less than the cylindrical member, a guide member "secured to the cylindrical member and through which, said tail pipe is slidably disposed, said tail pipe having an enlarged head disposed above said guide member andofa .diameter appreciably less than that of. the .bore of said cylindrical member and. said casing to permit free by' passingof fluid around cylindrical member,.=said guide member'having a coaxial, bore throughwhich said tail pipe extends, into the casing. above said member.
1 6..In combinationwithv cylindrical; member adapted tobe connected to the lower end. of a well casing, an elongated tail pipe of a diameter considerably. less thanthe. cylindrical member, a guide; member secured to the cylindrical member and through which said tail pipe slidably extendsQ I said guide member closing, the annular space between the exterior of the tail. pipe and the interior of the cylindricalmember, a nozzle at the loweriend of said tail pipe, said nozzle hav. ing a pluralityiofldischarge passageways formed downwardly therethrough, said passageways being spirally formed so. as to tendto discharge the fluid in a whirling fashion,said guide meme her having a coaxial bore through which said tail. pipefextends into the casing abovesaid member.
II. 'In .combination,.a casing shoe adapted to be secured to .the lower end ofa well casing, an elongated tail pipe of a diameter considerably less than the casing shoe, a concrete plug cast in said casing shoe and having a guide-shaped nose extending from the lower end thereof, said tail pipe having an enlarged headdisposed above saidplug and of a diameter appreciably less than that of the bore of said casing shoe andsaid-well casing to permit free by-passing of fluid aroundsaid head in either axial direction, said plug having a coaxial bore through which the tail pipe slidably extends, and packing means between the bore and tail pipe, said tail pipe extending en,
tirely throughsald bore and into the casing above said plug. y I
