1 Claim. (01. 4-213) My invention refers to positive ventilators for toilet bowls, and it has for its primary object to provide a simple, economical, and effective integral unit embodying an inhaler shell, fan, and
motor, which can be readily fitted to the edge of a bowl by those unskilled in the art.
The specific object of my invention is to provide an inhaling shell having legs adapted to rest upon the top of a bowl, whereby it is supported,
and a suction apparatus embodying a bracketsupported motor and fan, the same being connected to the inhaling shell by a suction pipe.
With the above and other minor objects in View, the invention consists in certain peculiarities of construction and combination of parts, as will be hereinafter more fully described with reference to the accompanying drawing and. subsequently claimed.

Figure 1 represents a plan view of a toilet bowl equipped with a ventilating unit constructed in accordance with my invention, parts being broken away and in sectionto more clearly illustrate structural details.
Figure 2 is a cross-section, the section being indicated by the line 2-2 of Figure 1, with parts broken away to more clearly show structural details.
Figure 3 is a sectional elevation of the bowl ventilating unit, the section being indicated by the line 33 of Figure 1.
Figure 4 is a plan view of a modification of my invention.
Referring by character to the drawing, A represents any standard type of bowl, and B, a seat therefor, which seat is indicated in dotted lines, and has in conjunction with it a cover (not shown), forming no part of my invention.
Seated upon the top lip of the bowl is a brack- 40 et constituting an inhaler, which bracket is formed with a flat hollow base-piece I, having an open mouth extending toward the bowl. Extending from the corners of the bracket mouth is a pair of bowed arms 2-2, which rest upon the top of said bowl and conform thereto. One corner of the hollow base-piece I is provided with an extended nozzle 3, which has fitted thereto a pipe section 4. The opposite end of this pipe section communicates with a bell-shaped hood 5, which is fitted to a circular fan housing 6, the same being secured to and extended from an electric motor 7, the casting forming the motor shell being extended from a supporting bracket 8', which may, as best shown in Figure 2, be attached to 55 a fixed wall or other member.
The fan housing 6 is provided with a tangential discharge nipple 8, which communicates with a pipe section 9 that may discharge into the plumbing ventilator pipe or other channel, whereby fumes are positively delivered outside the buildmg.
Mounted in the housing 6 is a fan II), which is secured to the motor shaft in the usual manner, it being noted that the structure as a whole is a simple unit assembled upon the same general horizontal plane, whereby it can readily be fitted to the top edge of a toilet bowl, and it is also understood that the pipe 4 connecting the bracket and fan may be shortened or extended, depending upon the conditions surrounding the fixtures; The electric motor is provided with a button or switch I I, intersecting one of the conductor lines leading to the motor, whereby the same can be energized or stopped at the will of the operator.
It will also be noted that when the ventilating unit is positioned upon the bowl, the bracket and leg portions thereof serve as a support for the standard seat B, whereby the bracket is concealed, and its leg portions, in conjunction with associated parts, will form walls for directing a flow of air into the fan casing from the hollow base of the bracket.
As indicated in Figure 4 of the drawing, the bracket may be extended around the bowl as shown, and is connected to the bottom surface of the seat, it being capable of swinging upwardly, due to the fact that rubber pipe connections 4' are utilized at the back.
Attention is particularly called to the fact that the breather bracket, motor casing, and housing, are provided with sleeve sections, which can be readily adjusted in assemblage, due to the fact that all of these parts are shipped knocked down, and hence the suction connection, in conjunction with the pipe section 4, is capable of adjustment of distance between the wall and the commode.
While I have shown simple exemplifications of my invention, it is understood that I may vary the structural details within the scope of the claim.
I claim:
A ventilating unit for commode bowls comprising, a one-piece inhaler bracket adapted to support a toilet seat and to rest upon the rim of the toilet bowl, the bracket having a fiat, hollow base-piece with an intake mouth extending towards said bowl and curved seat-supporting arms extending from the bracket base at the corners of the mouth thereof, whereby air is directed a coupling pipe section fitted t0 the mouth of the into said mouth, a casing, a motor-driven fan hood and inhaler bracket nozzle, whereby the mounted therein, a housing for the fan fitted to parts are readily assembled upon a horizontal the front of the motor casing, a bell-shaped sucplane to facilitate installation.
