Description

ATTORNEYS Patented Nov. 14, 1939 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE 1 Claim.
This invention relates to dispensing devices, and its general object is to provide a liquid antiseptic dispenser for iodine, andthe like, that is primarily designed to be carried on the person for instant use of the antiseptic on minor cuts,
scratches, contusions, etc., to prevent infection as will be apparent.
A further object is to provide a liquid antiseptic dispenser that can be conveniently carried in the pocket in the same manner as a vfountain pen without fear of leakage or breakage, and
the antiseptic can be dispensed therefrom in the desired quantities and in an easy and expeditious manner, with minimum effort on the part of the user.
Another object is to provide a liquidv antiseptic dispenser that is simple in construction, inexpensive to manufacture and extremely efllcient in operation, use and service.
This invention also consists in certain other features of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, to be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawing and -specifically pointed out in the appended claim.
In describing the invention in detail, reference will be had to the accompanying drawing wherein like characters denote like or corresponding parts throughout the several views, and in which: i
Figure 1 is a vertical longitudinal sectional view taken through the dispenser which forms the subject matter of the present invention.
Figure 2 is a View of the device removed` from its casing.`
Figure 3 is a sectional view taken approxia mately on line 3 3 of Figure 1, looking in the direction of the arrows.
Referring to the drawing in detail, it will be noted that the casing I of my dispensing device is of elongated hollow formation and includes an upper cylindrical portion and an inwardly tapered portion 2 formed thereon and depending therefrom and which is provided with a closed lower end, as shown.
The upper end of the casing I is open and the cylindrical portion is interiorly thickened and threaded to provide a ring portion 3 to threadedly receive an annular ange 4 formed on and depending from thedisk shaped body 5 of a cap for closing the casing, as shown. 'I'he body 5 is preferably provided with a serrated periphery, as shown in Figure 2, to facilitate the application and removal thereof.
The annular flange 4 is formed by a substantially frusto-conical shaped recess which has mounted therein for fitting engagement therewith, a like shaped solid upper portion B of an elongated rubber bulb or sack 1 to set up a wedging action within the recess to prevent removal of the bulb from the cap, as will be apparent.
Frictionally or otherwise secured within the v rubber bulb 'I is the upper end of a glass tube 8 which has a restricted lower end to provide a nozzle 9.
10 The tube 8 is of a width to iit the tapered portion 2 of the casing 1 adjacent the lower end thereof, to hold the tube against movement to prevent breakage thereof, and co-operating with that feature is a cushioning member I0 arranged' 15 inthe closed end to receive the tip of the nozzle, as shown in Figure 1, the cushioning member being formed from soft rubber or other similar material.
.From the above description and disclosure of the drawing, it will be obvious that I have provided a pocket dispenser for liquid antiseptics which includes a bulb that acts as a reservoir for A liquid antiseptic dispensing device comprising s an elongated casing having an interiorly threaded open end and a closed opposite end, said casing being tapered inwardly from adjacent its open end to its closed end, a serrated closure cap threaded in the open end for closing the same and having a substantially frusto-conical shaped recess therein, antiseptic receiving and dispensing means including an elongated rubber bulb, a solid upper portion for the bulb and shaped toriit and being seated within the recess to set up a wedging action therewith to be carried by the cap, a dispensing tube secured to and communicating with the bulb and being of a width to contact the inner surface of the` wall of the.
casing adjacent its closed end for fitting association therewith. a nozzle on the outer end of the tube, and a soft rubber cushioning member within the closed end for disposal in the path of the nozzle for the latter to engage the same.
