15 From the above descriptions it should be understood that this invention provides a permanent exterior container or package for housing refill packages or boxes and that such refill pack-- ages or boxes are sealed in the exterior portions 20 of the container so that the contents thereof cannot be spilled from the container.
I'am aware that many changes may be made and numerous details of construction may be varied through a wide range without departing from the principles of this invention, and I, therefore, do not purpose limiting the patent granted hereon otherwise than necessitated by the prior art. i
I claim as my invention:
30 1. A container comprising a molded plastic disc having an upstanding annular flange spaced from the outer periphery thereof, a screw thread on the exterior face of said flange, a cardboard box having a fiat bottom wall seated on said disc and a 35 cylindrical side wall abutting the inner vface of said flange, a molded plastic cover member disposed over said box and having an internally' threaded side wall for threaded Vengagement with the thread on said flange and a compressible 40 packing ring disposed between the topi edge of the box and th'e cover whereby a screwing down of the cover on the base will compress the packing ring to seal the contents of the box in the container.
2. A powder box comprising a rigid base mem- 45 ber having an upstandingl annular flange spaced from the outer periphery thereof, a screw thread on the exterior face of said ange, a cardboard box seated on said disc having a cylindrical side wall abutting the inner face of the flange of the 50 disc, a rigid cover member having a convex top portion, a cylindrical side wall portion and a flat rim portion between the convex portion and side wall portion, and a compressible sealing disc disposed between the top of the box and the fiat rim 56 portion of the cover, said inner face of said side wall being threaded near the bottom thereof for threaded engagement with the thread ion the flange of the base whereby a screwing down of vthe cover on the base will compress the washer to seal the contents of the box and to hold the box 5 between the cover and base.
3. A powder box comprising a molded plastic disc having an upstanding annular flange spaced from the outer periphery thereof, an open topped cylindrical box seated on said disc in abutting 10 relation to the inner face of said ange, a tray member. disposed on top of said box having a compressible periphery, a molded plastic cover having a convex top portion, a fiat rim portion and a cylindrical side wall normal to the rim portion,
`Ysaid side wall and said fiange of the base having engagingscrew threads thereon whereby a screwing 'down of the cover on the base will' move the flat rim of ythe cover against the tray for compressing the Vperiphery of the tray toseal the contents of the box and to hold the box in assembled relation between the c over and base.
4. A package comprising a base member having a relatively short externally threaded upstanding annular flange, a container disposed on said base in abutting relation to the inner face of the ange, said container having a side wall extending above said flange, a cover having a top portion thrusting against the top of the container and said cover having an internally threaded side wallv for threaded engagement with the fiange on the base whereby a screwing down of the cover on the base will clamp the container between the cover and base. i
5. A package comprising a base having an upstanding annular flange, a container disposed on said base inside of the fiange, said container having a portion extending above the fiange, a cover l having a top portion thrusting against. the container and a side wall extending from said top 40 over the flange, and means detachably connecting said-cover and said base to clamp the container between the cover andr base.
6. A package comprising a base having an upstanding annular flange, a container disposed on said base inside of the flange, said container having a portion extending above the flange, a cover having a top portion thrusting against the container and a side wall extending from said top over the ange, and mating engageable means'on .50 said flange and said side Wall drawing the cover and base together upon relative rotation thereof for clamping the container between the .cover and base.
