This invention" relates to a necktie holder,' and has for its primary object 'toiprovide a device of novel construction which may be utilized to position the end portions of a four-in-hand necktie in'correct'relation oneto the other and to the front of a shirt. 0 a

Anbther object of the invention is to provide a device which will effectively hold a necktie po sitioned with respect to a shirt and at the same time will be entirely obscured behind the necktie.

Another objectof the invention is to provide a device which will grip the necktie at the rear thereof and adjacent to the opposite edges thereof, and which upon being operated to grip the necktie will also function to stretch the tie laty;

Still another object of the invention is to provide-a holding devicefor a necktie which will not mar or wrinkle the front surface of the tie .or otherwise detract from the appearance thereof. a

The invention consists in a necktie holder as set forth in the following specification and particularly as pointed outin the claims thereof.

The fastener members 23 and 24 are positioned to engage the rear side of the'portion l2 of the necktie at points adjacent to the opposite edges thereof, and in rotating said members, after the spurs 25 and 26 have penetrated the tie and obtained a hold upon said opposite edge portions, a continued rotation of the rod 2| will produce a slight lateral stretching action upon the tie, thereby tending to eliminate wrinkles therefrom. The spurs 25 and 26 in penetrating the necktie will only interlock with a few threads of portions 21 of the tie which are folded behind the front face of said tie, and the stretching action upon the tie is produced by the right and left hand helical coils of the'fastener members 23 and 24. r

In Figs. 5 and 6 of the drawing I have illustrated a modified embodiment of my invention in which a clamp member 28 is constructed of sheet metal and has a fastening device 29 mount ed thereon and rotatable in bearings 30 provided upon the clamp member 28. The fastening device 29 embodies therein a rod 3| provided with knurled operating knobs 32 at opposite ends thereof, and fast to said rod 3| at points adJa-. cent to the operating knobs are fastenermembers 33 constructed of wire extending partly around the rod a slight distance therefrom and constituting spurs 34 which are formed eccentric to the axis of the rod 3| in a manner to easily penetrate the necktie when the fastening device is rotated. The device illustrated in Figs. 5 and 6 is actuated in exactly the same manner to secure a necktie as the device previously described, but there will be no action tending to stretch the tie laterally, and the fastening device can only be rotated approximately one half a turn.

In Fig. 7 still another modified embodiment of the invention is illustrated in which a clamp member 35 constructed of wire has separate and independently operated fastening devices 36 and 31 mounted thereon. The devices 36 and 31 embody therein rods 38 rotatably mounted in bear- .ings 39 fast to the clamp member 35 and are provided with knurled operating knobs 4D. The devices 36 and 31 are also provided withfastener members 4| and 42 respectively formed of wire and wound loosely right and left hand respectively around the rods 38 adjacent to the knobs 40. The fastener members 4| and 42 are constructed in exactly'the same manner as the memers 23 and 24 previously described and function in exactly the same manner to hold a necktie, and the only difference between the operation of the device of Fig. '7 and the device of Figs. 1 to 4 inclusive is that the fastener devices 36 and 3! are actuated separately whereas the devices 23 and 24 are actuated in unison.

I claim:

1. A necktie holder of the character described having, in combination, means to secure the rear portion of a necktie to thefront of a shirt, a spur mounted upon said securing means and means to rotate said spur into interlocking relation with the front portion of the necktie, whereby said portions of said necktie are positioned relatively to each other and to said shirt.

2. A necktie holder of the character described having, in combination, a spring clip adapted to secure the rear portion of a necktie to the'front of a shirt, a spur rotatably mounted upon said clip, and means to move said spur into interlocking-relation with the front portion of the necktie; whereby said portions of said necktie are positioned relatively to each other and to said shirt. 3. A necktie holder of the character described having, in combination, resilient clamping means adapted to secure the rear portion of a necktie to the front of a shirt, an arcuate spur mounted upon said clamp, and means to rotate said spur into piercing interlocking relation with the front portion of the necktie, whereby said portions of said necktie are positioned relatively to each other and to said shirt.

4. A necktie holder of the character described having, in-combination, means to secure the rear portion of a necktie to the front of a shirt, a helical fastening member mounted upon said securing means, and means to rotate said helical member axially into piercing interlocking relation with the front portion of the necktie, whereby said portions of said necktie are positioned relatively to each other and to said shirt.

5. A necktie holder of the character described having, in combination, means to secure the rear portion of a necktie to the front of a shirt, a fastening device rotatably mounted upon said securing means having spurs embodied therein positioned behind rearwardly folded portions of the front portion of the necktie, and means to rotate said fastening device to cause said spurs to interlock with said folded portions whereby the front and rear portions of the necktie are positioned relatively to each other and to said shirt.

6. A necktie holder of the character described having, in combination, resilient clamping means adapted to secure the rear portion of a necktie to the front of a shirt, and a pair of fastening members rotatably mounted upon said clamping means and comprising oppositely wound pointed wires adapted to be rotated into piercing'interlocking relation with the front portion of the necktie; whereby said portions of said necktie are positioned relatively to each other and to said shirt.

A necktie holder of the character described having, in combination, means to secure the rear portion of a necktie to the front of a shirt, oppositely wound helical fastening members mounted upon said securing means, and means to rotate said helical members axially into piercing interlocking engagement with the front portion of the necktie adjacent to the opposite side edges thereof, whereby said portions of said necktie are positioned relatively to each other and to said shirt. f V

8. A necktie holder of the character described having, in combination, means to secure the rear portion of a necktie to the front of a shirt, a rod rotatably mounted upon said securing means, operating knobs at opposite extremities of said rod, and oppositely wound pointed helical wires surrounding said rod and fast thereto adjacent to said knobs, saidwires being adapted, upoQnprotation of said rod, to pierce the front portion of the necktie, whereby said portions of said necktie are positioned relatively;to each other'and tosaid shirt. 1

9. A necktie holder of the character described having, in combination, means to secure a portion of a necktieto the front of a shirt, a pointed wire coil mounted upon said securing means, and means to rotate said coil to cause the point thereof to penetrate .another portion of said necktie, whereby said portions of said necktie are positioned relatively toeach other and to said shirt. 7 1
