  • BACKGROUND Field of the Invention
  • The present invention relates to a towel or similar drying element that contains features allowing it to be hooked around the headrest of an automobile seat or upper corners of a chair such that the towel or similar drying element stays secured so that the towel is unable to slide down the back of the seat or chair and thus provide a barrier between a person and the seat or chair both on the bottom and the back of the seat.
  • Description of the Related Art
  • A beach towel is a common item found upon those that are around water or beaches during warmer temperature days. Although the primary use of most towels is to absorb moisture, Beach towels in particular, often get used for not only for staying dry, but also for sitting or lying on in different scenarios. This can include such scenarios as covering a spot in the sand to sit or lay down on, covering a chair to sit on, covering a boat seat to sit on, covering a vehicle seat to sit on, covering a lounge chair to lay on, and many more scenarios that are both common and uncommon. Depending on the intent of the user, these towels under these scenarios usually can be summarized into two different intents.
  • One, the user is protecting or limiting exposure to the surface from which they are sitting or lying on from their body and the contents that which the surface of their body contains. One such example of this is that a user may lay the towel against a seat if they are trying to block or absorb any moisture, sand, or other contents in effort to prevent these contents from getting onto or absorbing into the seat they are sitting on.

  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION
  • Referring to FIG. 1 and FIG. 2 , a towel 1 typically made of cotton, microfiber, or other material(s) that are absorbent, contains an opening 2 near the end of the device. To prevent tearing, the opening 2 is surrounded by a reinforced region 3. Reinforced region 3 is made by manufacturing a different weave into the device that acts to increase the strength and reduce the chance of tearing when tensional force, whether intentional or unintentional, is applied to the towel 1 when the opening 2 is hooked around a relatively fixed object such as the automobile headrest 5 shown in FIG. 2 .
  • The towel 1 has an opening 2 that is large enough to fit over a common automobile headrest 5 as shown in FIG. 2 . This allows the towel 1 to be held secure and prevent falling or sliding down the back of a vehicle seat 6 as illustrated in FIG. 2 . The towel 1 has a width and length that may fully or partially cover the seat 6.
  • The towel 1 contains a securing element 4, which could consist of a button, zipper, hook and loop, or other fixing method, on opposing sides of the opening 2 such that the opening 2 can be partially or fully closed while the opening 2 is not looped around any object such as an automobile headrest 5 so that the towel 1 does not contain a large opening which makes it better for use on a beach or other towel prone environment, or can be secured partially while the opening 2 is looped around an automobile headrest 5 or other relatively fixed object such that the opening 2 does not sag or get pulled down the seat 6 and thus rendering its protective characteristics not as effective as it no longer covers as much of the seat 6.
  • Referring to FIG. 1 , FIG. 3 and FIG. 4 , a towel 1 typically made of cotton, microfiber, or other material(s) that are absorbent, contains two openings 5 near the end corners. The opening 5 has reinforced stitching at both ends of the two openings 5 to increase the ability to resist tearing when tensional force, whether intentional or unintentional, is applied to the towel a when the two openings 5 are hooked around a relatively fixed object such as a chair corner 9 shown in FIG. 3 .
  • The towel 1 has openings 5 that are large enough to fit over a common chair corner 9 as shown in FIG. 2 . This allows the towel 1 to be held secured and prevent falling or sliding down the back of the chair 8 as illustrated in FIG. 2 . The towel 1 has a width and length that may fully or partially cover the seat 8.
  • The towel 1 has a securing element 4 on opposing sides of the two openings 5 that can be secured together around a tubular or rounded chair corner 11 that are often found on beach chairs 10. This allows the towel 1 to be held secured and prevents falling or sliding down the back of the chair 10 as illustrated in FIG. 4 . The towel 1 has a width and length that may fully or partially cover the seat 10.
  • Referring to FIG. 5 and FIG. 6 , a towel 12 typically made of cotton, microfiber, or other material(s) that are absorbent, contains an outer snap button or other securing element 13 and an inner snap button or other securing element 14 that are position a set distance away from each other such that when the corner or edge of the towel 1 is looped, the snap button or other securing element 13 and the snap button or other securing element 14 can be secured together in such a manner that towel 12 can be affixed to a chair or other fixed sitting structure.
  • Referring to FIG. 7 , a towel 15 typically made of cotton, microfiber, or other material(s) that are absorbent, contains two securing elements that consist of securing straps 16 for fitting around chair corner. The securing straps 16 are attached to the towel 15 at either end of the securing straps 16 and whose end is defined by the point in which securing strap 16 is first fixed the towel 15 and is fixed to towel 15 at or near the corners of the towel 15 and may be fixed across any width of towel 15 such that the gap 17 created by the space between securing strap 16 and the towel 15 is sufficient enough to fit around a common chair corner.
