  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
  • With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to FIGS. 1 through 11 thereof, a new plush toy embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by the reference numeral 10 will be described.
  • As best illustrated in FIGS. 1 through 11 , the self-affirmation plush toy device 10 generally comprises an outer casing 12 that is formed into a body shape 18. For example, the body shape 18 may define a torso 20. A head 22 may be attached to and extend upwardly from the torso 20. A plurality of limbs 24 may be attached to and extend outwardly from the torso 20. The outer casing 12 may have a front side 14 and a back side 16, for example with the plurality of limbs 24 extending outwardly from the front side 14 of the torso 20 wherein the body shape 18 is designed to resemble a teddy bear.
  • The plurality of limbs 24 may further include a first arm 26 and a second arm 28 that is spaced from the first arm 26. A first leg 30 may be positioned beneath the first arm 26 and a second leg 32 may be positioned beneath the second arm 28.
  • A resiliently compressible material 34 may be enclosed within the outer casing 12. The resiliently compressible material 34 defines a filling designed to expand the outer casing 12 outwardly into the body shape 18. The resiliently compressible material 34 is generally formed of a soft and cushiony material is designed to cushion a body part of a user 54 when the user 54 rests the body part on the body shape 18. Additionally, when the body shape 18 is designed to resemble the teddy bear depicted in FIG. 1 , the soft and cushiony material of the resiliently compressible material may be designed to promote hugging or cuddling the teddy bear. For example, the soft and cushiony material may be cotton, batting, synthetic fibers, or another appropriate stuffing material.
  • A power source 36 is positioned within the outer casing 12. The power source 36 may include a battery, and the battery may be rechargeable.
  • A plurality of audio devices 38 is positioned within the outer casing 12. The plurality of audio devices 38 is electrically coupled to the power source 36. Each audio device of the plurality of audio devices 38 is actuatable to play a respective audio file of a plurality of audio files.
  • The plurality of audio devices 38 may include a first audio device 40. For example, the first audio device 40 may be positioned within the first arm 26. A second audio device 42 may be positioned within the second arm 28. A third audio device 44 may be positioned within the first leg 30. A fourth audio device 46 may be positioned within the second leg 32.
  • Each audio device of the plurality of audio devices 38 may include a respective speaker 48. A respective processor 50 may be electrically coupled to the respective speaker 48. The respective processor 50 is designed to play the respective audio file audibly with the respective speaker 48 when the respective processor 50 is actuated. The respective processor 50 may store the respective audio file of the plurality of audio files. A respective button 52 is electrically coupled to the respective processor 50. The respective button 52 is designed to actuate the respective processor 50 when the user 54 presses the respective button 52. In some embodiments, the respective speaker 48 is incorporated into the respective button 52. The respective processor 50 may be designed to facilitate the user 54 in recording a personalized message to replace the respective audio file when the user 54 holds the respective button 52.
  • The respective audio file generally includes a self-affirmation message that is designed to facilitate the user 54 in learning positive self-talk and to facilitate the user 54 in constructing positive neuropathways of subconscious thought patterns. For example, a first audio file of the respective audio files may state “Repeat after me. I am amazing, I am unique, I am loved, I am worthy.” An alternative audio file may state “Repeat after me. I am always learning and growing, I know that I am enough, I have the power to create the life I want, I am worthy.” The user 54 can press the respective button 52 to play the respective audio file through the respective speaker 48 while repeating the message of the recording to practice positive self-talk.
  • In alternative embodiments, a single processor 50 may be positioned within the outer casing 12 and electrically coupled to the power source 36. FIGS. 5 and 11 provide examples of such embodiments. In such embodiments, the plurality of audio devices 38 is electrically coupled to the processor 50 and the processor 50 may store each respective audio file of the plurality of audio files. The processor 50 may also be designed to facilitate the user 54 in recording the personalized message to replace the respective audio file of one of the audio devices when the user 54 holds the respective button 52 if that audio device. For example, an older user 54 may want to incorporate a self-affirming message of their own, such as a personal mantra, which can be played through the respective speaker 48 by pressing the respective button 52.

The third button indicium 62 may be positioned on the third corner 106 wherein the third button indicium 62 is designed to indicate a position of the respective button 52 of the third audio device 44. The fourth button indicium 64 may be positioned on the fourth corner 108 wherein the fourth button indicium 64 is designed to indicate a position of the respective button 52 of the fourth audio device 46.
  • In such embodiments, the mirror 66 may be positioned on the front side 14 of the outer casing 12. For example, the mirror 66 may be centrally positioned on the front side 14 of the outer casing 12 wherein the mirror 66 is designed to reflect a face 68 of the user 54 in the middle of the pillow 98.
  • The shaped light 94 may also be coupled to the outer casing 12. For example, the shaped light 94 may be positioned on the front side 14 of the outer casing 12 adjacent to the flap 70. As shown in FIG. 7 , the shaped light 94 may be equidistantly positioned between the first corner 102 and the third corner 106.
  • The charging port 96 may be inset into the back side 16 of the outer casing 12 and exposed within the back side 16 of the outer casing 12, for example to facilitate the user 54 in resting on the pillow 98 while the power source 36 is recharging.
  • In further alternative embodiments, the outer casing 12 may be formed into a body shape 18 defining a dog, a cat, a doll, or another shape. The body shape 18 may be designed to appeal to children to facilitate marketing the self-affirmation plush toy device 10 to children. The body shape 18 may be alternatively designed to appeal to adults to facilitate marketing the self-affirmation plush toy device 10 to adults.
  • Different embodiments may be manufactured in different sizes. For example, one embodiment of the body shape 18 may resemble a smaller teddy bear or a smaller pillow 98 that is appropriately sized for users aged 0-4. Another embodiment of the body shape 18 may resemble a larger teddy bear or a larger pillow 98 that is appropriately sized for users aged 4 and older. The smaller embodiment may include simpler affirmations in the plurality of audio files and the larger embodiment may include more elaborate affirmations in the plurality of audio files, to appeal to different age ranges of users. Older users, such as adults, may need to change more deeply rooted thought patterns, for example because their subconscious mind has neuropathways that have developed circuits between negative thought patterns. Such users may find that their subconscious seems to fight with their conscious mind when trying to implement a new, more positive neuropathway. The more elaborate affirmations can facilitate the user 54 in deprograming these negative thought patterns, and re-programming the neuropathways of their subconscious with more positive thought patterns.
  • In use, the user 54 may open the flap 70 to expose the mirror 66. The user 54 may press the respective button 52 of one of the audio devices of the plurality of audio devices 38 to play the respective audio file with the respective speaker 48. The user may press the respective button 52 of an alternative audio device to play the respective audio file for that alternative audio device. By repeating the self-affirming messages of the plurality of audio files, the user 54 can practice positive, self-affirming self-talk that is designed to boost the self-confidence and self-esteem of the user 54.
  • With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.
