Abstract

The proposed subject matter is intended to allow hospital and medical patients to still wear attire that allows medical professionals access to the patient while maintaining a patient's privacy and dignity.

Description

    FIELD OF THE INVENTION
  • The present subject matter relates to garments for use in a hospital or medical facility.
  • BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • Most gowns worn in hospitals have an open back so that medical professionals can quickly treat patients should an emergency arise. However, these known garments lack privacy and do not accommodate wires (for example, for heart monitoring) and/or devices (for example fixator, catheter, etc) attached to the patient.
  • SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • Contrary to known gowns, a medical garment that does not rely on an open back or a string to tie the gown closed is presently disclosed.
  • In the following description, like reference numbers are used to identify like elements. Furthermore, the drawings are intended to illustrate major features of exemplary embodiments in a diagrammatic manner.
  • The drawings are not intended to depict every feature of every implementation nor relative dimensions of the depicted elements and are not drawn to scale. In the following description, numerous specific details are set forth to clearly describe various specific embodiments disclosed herein.
  • One skilled in the art, however, will understand that the presently claimed invention may be practiced without all of the specific details discussed below. In other instances, well known features have not been described so as not to obscure the invention.
  • As described herein, the term “pivotally connected” shall be used to describe a situation wherein two or more identified objects are joined together in a manner that allows one or both of the objects to pivot, and/or rotate about or in relation to the other object in either a horizontal or vertical manner.
  • As described herein, the term “removably coupled” and derivatives thereof shall be used to describe a situation wherein two or more objects are joined together in a non-permanent manner so as to allow the same objects to be repeatedly joined and separated.
  • According to some embodiments, novel pants 10 are presently disclosed as shown in FIG. 1 . The pants 10 may comprise openings along the sides of the pants held together by fasteners 15. The fasteners 15 may be Velcro®, zipper, buttons, etc.
  • The side openings may be used to allow doctors to examine patient's legs without the need to completely remove the pants. This will greatly improve the patient's privacy and comfort. The side openings may be adjusted to accommodate different devices attached to the patient.
  • According to some embodiments, the pants 10 may also comprise a front opening configured to accommodate, for example, fixator 25 if the patient has a broken pelvis. This allows the patient to be more comfortable and reduces skin rashes.
  • According to some embodiments, novel shirts 30 and 40 are presently disclosed as shown in FIGS. 2-3 . The shirts 30 and 40 may comprise openings along the sides of the sleeves and torso held together by the fasteners 15. The sleeve openings may be used to allow doctors to examine patient's arms without the need to completely remove the shirt. This will also greatly improve the patient's privacy and comfort. The side openings may be adjusted to accommodate different devices attached to the patient.
  • According to some embodiments, the presently disclosed garments may be sized to fit kids and/or adults. According to some embodiments, the presently disclosed garments may comprise cotton, fleece, polyester, and/or silk material.
  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
  • FIG. 1 is a front perspective view of the pants 10 garment for medical patients.
  • FIG. 2 is a front perspective view of shirt 30 garment for medical patients.
  • FIG. 3 is a front perspective view of shirt 40 garment for medical patients.
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
  • FIG. 1 is a front perspective view of the pants 10 garment for medical patients. The fasteners 15 go along both sides of the legs so that medical professionals can quickly access the patient while still maintaining patient privacy for lower extremities. Front opening 20 allows for patients to have attached medical devices such as fixator 25 while still maintaining physical modesty.
  • FIG. 2 is a front perspective view of shirt 30 garment for medical patients. The fasteners 15 go along both sides of the shoulders, arms, and sides of shirt 30. This allows medical professionals to have quick access to their patients while still maintaining upper body privacy.
  • FIG. 3 is a front perspective view of shirt 40 garment for medical patients. The fasteners 15 go along both sides of the shoulders, arms, and sides of shirt 40. This allows medical professionals to have quick access to their patients while still maintaining upper body privacy.
