Description
- The present invention relates to wine glasses, and more particularly, to a multifunctional wine glass containing multiple combination forms for facilitating different functions.
- Wine glass is one of the most important utensils for drinking. Different wine glasses are needed for drinking different type of wines, such as goblets and stemless wine glasses, or champagne glasses, standard wine glasses, and Burgundy glasses having different shape of glass bodies.
- Furthermore, before drinking red wine, a step of “decanting” is usually carried out, which means making the wine contact with the air to cause oxidation of the wine. One of the effects of decanting is to reduce the astringency sensation of tannins, whereby the taste of the wine becomes more smooth and softer, and the aroma of the wine is spread more evenly.
- The motion of “wine glass shaking” is a common way of decanting the wine. The standard way of wine glass shaking is to firstly place the wine glass on the table, and then hold the glass stem with the thumb and forefinger, so as to shake the wine glass by circling it on the table. However, for an unskilled novice of drinking, the wine is often spilled out during the decanting process. Therefore, a wine glass for the user to easily shake for decanting the wine is desirable.
- Also, general wine glasses are integrally formed of glass material, which require extra protection and safe storage for facilitating the portability and mobility thereof. Therefore, a considerable volume for carriage is needed, so that design facilitating the portability and mobility of the wine glass is desirable as well.
- To improve the issues above, a multifunctional wine glass is disclosed, which is allowed to be assembled into different forms according to the demand of the user for selective usage of wine glasses with long or short length of the glass stem. Also, the multifunctional wine glass facilitates the glass shaking process for decanting the wine and is easily disassembled for facilitating the portability and mobility.
- For achieving the aforementioned objectives, a multifunctional wine glass in accordance with an embodiment of the present invention is provided, comprising: a glass body having a containing space, with a glass opening formed on one end and a glass body connecting seat disposed on another end of the glass body; a glass stem formed in a rod shape, the glass stem having one end movably connected with the glass body connecting seat; a glass base connecting seat having a first connecting end and a second connecting end, the first connecting end movably connected with another end of the body stem in opposite to the end connected with the glass body connecting seat; and a glass base having an arc face and a flat face disposed on two opposite sides thereof, the glass base comprising a connecting bore to which the second connecting end is movably connected. With the connecting bore, the glass base is selectively disposed for the arc face or the flat face to face the glass body.
- Regarding the multifunctional wine glass of the present invention, when the glass body, the glass body connecting seat, the glass stem, and the glass base connecting seat are orderly combined, with the flat face of the glass base facing the glass body and the arc face contacting a plane such as a tabletop, the user is allowed to shake the wine glass through the arc face for decanting wine. Alternatively, when the arc face is arranged to face the glass body, the present invention serves as an ordinary goblet, such that the flat face of the glass base contacts the tabletop to steadily stand thereon. Also, the user is able to orderly combine the glass body, the glass body connecting seat, the glass base connecting seat, and the glass base, such that the present invention serves as a stemless wine glass.
- Furthermore, when the present invention is to be stored, the glass body connecting seat and the glass stem are able to be disassembled, so that the glass body is reversely placed on the glass base, with the glass stem and the glass base connecting seat placed into the containing space for significantly reducing the storage volume, wherein the glass body provides protection to the fragile glass stem.
