Abstract

A cover system includes a cover and a fastener for at least temporarily rendering inoperative a urinal fixed to a wall and/or a floor, wherein the fastener connects the cover to the wall and/or the floor, and wherein the cover has a self-supporting body which, in the intended state of use, covers the urinal at least at an upper part at least up to its bowl opening. A cover for such a cover system is also provided.

Description

BACKGROUND AND SUMMARY

The invention relates to a cover system comprising a cover and a fastener for a urinal, and to a cover for such a cover system.
Urinals are provided in numerous public toilets. If use of a urinal is undesirable, for example if there is a defect, plastic bags or the like are often taped over the urinal in question.
It is known as a further measure to close urinals with a lid in such a case. DE 20307932 U1 discloses a lid which engages behind the flushing rim of the urinal. To adhesively attach a flap which is formed of plastic film parts and which has side parts onto the bowl is known from DE 20317340 U1.
It is desirable is to provide a hygienic and stable cover system for a urinal.
It is also desirable to provide a cover for such a cover system.
According to one aspect of the invention, a cover system is proposed comprising a cover and a fastener for at least temporarily rendering inoperative a urinal attached to a wall and/or a floor. The fastener connects the cover to the wall and/or floor. The cover has a self-supporting body which, in the intended state of use, covers the urinal, at least at an upper part, at least up to its bowl opening, in particular covers its upper half up to and together with the bowl opening.
The cover can advantageously be modeled on at least one contour of the urinal or can at least partially be modeled on the contour of the urinal. The cover may thus cover an upper part of the urinal at least up to its bowl opening.
The cover may closely fit around the contour, in particular in a snug fit, so that it becomes difficult to accidentally remove the cover. Significant parts of the urinal can be covered to prevent contact.
In particular, the body of the cover may be in the form of an outwardly curved bowl projecting from the wall or floor. The convex design, as seen from the viewer, may make it more difficult to accidentally use the urinal. On the other hand, cleaning of the surface of the cover can be made easier.
The cover can also advantageously be designed to cover the urinal with its flush valve, which can be operated mechanically or contact-free. In the case of urinals in which a pipe arranged on the wall leads from the flush valve to the urinal for the supply of water, the pipe can also be covered by the cover.
The cover can advantageously cover the entire setup including urinal and flush valve as well as any pipe, or only part of the setup, preferably in such a way that at least the bowl opening of the urinal is covered.
The cover is advantageously made of a plastic, for example as an injection molded part or the like. It is reusable and can be easily stored stacked with other similar covers. The surface may advantageously have fungicidal and/or antibacterial properties.
It is advantageous to provide a sturdy, high quality and attractively shaped cover which can be mounted as required in a fixed manner, so that tools are necessary in order to detach the cover. It is optionally possible to design a fastening, for example to the wall, which can be detached without the use of tools.
Since not just the bowl opening of the urinal, but also at least a large part of the urinal or even the entire urinal can be covered using the cover, accidental usage of the urinal can be avoided.
The cover is easy to clean and can bear lettering or decoration if required. It is also possible to adapt the cover in color, shape and the like to already existing sanitary objects in order to create a pleasing overall impression of the toilet room.
In an advantageous embodiment of the cover system, the self-supporting body of the cover can completely cover the urinal. All parts of the urinal can be covered to prevent contact.
The cover can also be advantageously designed to cover the urinal with its flush valve, which can be operated mechanically or contact-free. In the case of urinals in which a pipe arranged on the wall leads from the flush valve to the urinal for the supply of water, the pipe can also be covered by the cover.
The cover may advantageously cover the entire setup including the urinal and flush valve as well as any pipe.
In an advantageous embodiment of the cover system, the body of the cover may be of single-part construction. This allows for a simple process of manufacturing the cover.
In an advantageous embodiment of the cover system, the body of the cover may be of multi-part construction. The parts of the body may be plugged together, adhesively attached together, or otherwise assembled.
In an advantageous embodiment of the cover system, the body of the cover can be formed from body segments which, in the intended state of use, overlap the urinal in a jalousie- or lampion-like manner at least at its bowl opening. This allows the cover to be placed on the wall above the urinal when not in use, or alternatively below the urinal when the jalousie- or tampion-like body is folded together to expose the bowl opening of the urinal.
In an advantageous embodiment of the cover system, the cover may be modeled on an outer contour of the urinal. Thus, the cover may be small in construction.
In an advantageous embodiment of the cover system, the fastener may comprise one or more clamping elements with which the body of the cover is clamped to the urinal in the intended state of use. At least one area of the cover in particular may be designed to be clamped to the cover. For example, opposite areas of the edge of the cover can be matched to the outline of the urinal, for example on the wall, in such a way that the urinal is clamped by opposite edge areas of the cover. Additionally or alternatively, corresponding clamping elements can be attached to the cover, which can be clamped to the urinal.
Additionally or alternatively, corresponding clamping elements may be arranged on the wall, in the case of a wall-hung urinal, or on the floor, in the case of a urinal standing on the floor, into which the cover may be inserted.
In an advantageous embodiment of the cover system, the fastener can have, as a wall-side fastening element or cover-side fastening element, at least one latching means which, in the intended state of use, is latched to a complementary cover-side fastening element or wall-side fastening element. The fastener in particular can have one or more wall hooks and/or a hook bar as the wall-side fastening element. For example, the cover can be easily hooked into wall hooks or a hook bar. For this purpose, the cover can also have an inwardly facing, edge portion that is suitable for insertion into wall hooks or a hook bar.
In an advantageous embodiment of the cover system, the fastener may comprise a frame as a wall-side fastening element and/or as a cover-side fastening element. A frame is suitable for fastening by means of screws, Velcro fasteners, double-sided adhesive tapes or the like. Optionally, the cover can be hooked to a frame.
In an advantageous embodiment of the cover system, the fastener may comprise one or more magnets as a wall-side fastening element or cover-side fastening element and at least one retaining plate for magnets as a complementary cover-side fastening element or wall-side fastening element. This allows for fast attachment and quick deassembly. A plurality of magnets and/or retaining plates may be arranged on the edge of the cover.
In an advantageous embodiment of the cover system, the fastener may comprise at least one suction cup as a wall-side fastening element or cover-side fastening element.
This is advantageous when the urinal is attached to a tiled wall, so that there is a preferred substrate for one or more suction cups. This allows for fast assembly and fast deassembly.
In an advantageous embodiment of the cover system, the fastener can have, as a cover-side fastening element, a recess with which the body of the cover is fastened to a wall-side fastening element, in particular a flush valve of the urinal, in the intended state of use. For this purpose, an edge can advantageously be formed on the cover, which extends inside the cover, which has the recess. This allows for particularly simple attachment of the cover to the wall.
In an advantageous embodiment of the cover system, the fastener may comprise a Velcro fastener as a wall-side fastening element or cover-side fastening element. This allows for fast assembly. The holding forces can be adjusted via the length of a corresponding Velcro strap. A hook tape can be arranged on the cover and a velour tape on the wall, which interact as a Velcro fastener, or vice versa. Likewise, the cover may have a hook tape and a velour tape alternately in pieces. It is preferred to use a tiled, glazed or painted substrate on which the corresponding complementary component can be adhesively attached to the wall.
In an advantageous embodiment of the cover system, the fastener may comprise a double-sided adhesive tape as the wall-side fastening element or cover-side fastening element. This allows for fast installation of the cover.
It goes without saying that, if required, two or more of the described fastening methods may be combined.
In a further aspect of the invention, a cover for a cover system for a urinal that is fixed to a wall and/or a floor is proposed, with a self-supporting body which can be connected, in the intended state of use, to the wall and/or the floor by using a fastener, wherein the body in the intended state of use covers the urinal, at least at an upper part, at least up to its bowl opening.
The cover can advantageously be modeled on at least one contour of the urinal or can at least partially be modeled on the contour of the urinal. Thus, the cover can cover an upper part of the urinal at least up to its bowl opening.
The cover can enclose the contour tightly, particularly with a snug fit, so that accidental removal of the cover becomes difficult. Significant parts of the urinal can be covered to prevent contact.
The body of the cover in particular may be in the form of an outwardly curved bowl projecting from the wall or floor.
The cover is advantageously made of a plastic, for example as an injection molded part or the like. It is reusable and can be easily stacked with other similar covers. The surface may advantageously have fungicidal and/or antibacterial properties.
It is advantageous to provide a sturdy, high quality and attractively shaped cover which can be mounted as required in a fixed manner, so that tools are necessary in order to detach the cover. It is optionally possible to design a fastening, for example to the wall, which can be detached without the use of tools.
Since not just the bowl opening of the urinal, but also at least a large part of the urinal or even the entire urinal can be covered using the cover, accidental usage of the urinal can be avoided.
The cover is easy to clean and can bear lettering or decoration if required. Likewise, it is possible to adapt the cover in color, shape and the like to already existing sanitary objects, so that a pleasing overall impression of the toilet room is created.
In an advantageous embodiment of the cover, the body may be of single-part construction. This allows for a simple manufacturing process of the cover. All parts of the urinal can be covered to prevent contact.

In an advantageous embodiment of the cover system, the body of the cover may be of multi-part construction. The parts of the body may be plugged together, adhered together, or otherwise assembled.
In an advantageous embodiment of the cover, the body may be formed from body segments which, in the intended state of use, overlap the urinal in a jalousie- or lampion-like manner at least at its bowl opening, in particular its upper half up to and including the bowl opening. This allows the cover to be placed on the wall above the urinal when not in use, or alternatively below it when the jalousie- or Tampion-like body is folded together to expose the urinal.
In an advantageous embodiment of the cover, the body may be modeled on an outer contour of the urinal. The cover may thus have a small construction. In particular, at least a part of the body may be configured to be clamped to the urinal.
In an advantageous embodiment of the cover, a cover-side fastening element may comprise at least one suction cup. This is convenient when the urinal is attached to a tiled wall, so that there is a convenient base for one or more suction cups. This allows for fast assembly and fast disassembly.
In an advantageous embodiment of the cover, the fastener may comprise one or more magnets as a cover-side fastening element. This allows for fast assembly and fast disassembly. The cover may optionally have retaining plates for magnets that can be attached to magnets on the wall. Optionally, several magnets and/or retaining plates may be arranged on the edge of the cover. Several magnets and/or retaining plates may optionally be arranged on the edge of the cover.
In an advantageous embodiment of the cover, a cover-side fastening element may comprise a recess for hooking the body to a wall-side fastening element. In this way, an existing element of the urinal can be used to attach the cover.
In an advantageous embodiment of the cover, a cover-side fastening element may comprise a double-sided adhesive tape. This allows for a particularly simple attachment of the cover. Moreover, an adhesive tape can be easily removed or attached in case of multiple uses of the cover.
In an advantageous embodiment of the cover, a cover-side fastening element may comprise a Velcro fastener. This allows for particularly easy attachment of the cover. The components of a Velcro fastener may be adhered, so that a Velcro fastener may moreover be easily removed or attached in case of multiple uses of the cover.

Before describing the invention in detail, it should be noted that it is not limited to the particular components of the apparatus as well as the particular process steps, as these components and processes may vary. The terms used herein are intended only to describe particular embodiments and are not used in a limitative manner. Furthermore, when the singular or indefinite articles are used in the description or claims, this also refers to the plural of these elements unless the overall context clearly indicates otherwise.
Directional terminology used in the following with terms such as “left”, “right”, “above”, “below”, “before” “behind”, “after” and the like is used only for a better understanding of the figures and is in no case intended to represent a limitation of generality. The components and elements shown, and their design and use, may vary in accordance with the considerations of one skilled in the art and may be adapted to particular applications.
FIGS. 1 to 3 show a first exemplary embodiment of the invention. FIG. 1 shows a perspective front view of a wall-mounted urinal 130 with a wall-side fastening element 52 in the form of openings in the wall 110 of a fastener 50. FIG. 2 shows a perspective front view of a cover 10 connected to the wall-side fastening element 52 according to FIG. 1 . FIG. 3 shows a side view of the cover 10 according to FIG. 2 .
The cover system 100 comprises a cover 10 and a fastener 50 having one or more wall-side fastening elements 52, for example wall plugs, and one or more cover-side fastening elements 54, for example screws or pins for insertion into the wall-side fastening elements 52. The cover 10 is used to at least temporarily render the urinal 130 fastened to the wall 110 inoperable. The fastener 50 connects the body 12 to the wall 110.
The urinal 130 includes an upper part 136 that transitions into a bowl having a bowl opening 134.
The cover 10 has a self-supporting body 12, which completely covers the urinal 130 in the intended state of use. The edge of the cover 10 completely surrounds the contour 132 of the urinal 130 attached to the wall 110.
In this embodiment, the body 12 of the cover 10 is of single-part construction and rigid. Two troughs 16 are arranged laterally on the upper side of the cover 10. Such a trough 16 is also present centrally on the lower side. These stabilize the bowl-like cover 10 and can also be used to fasten the cover 10 to the wall 110. In this exemplary embodiment, pins (not shown) complementary to the openings 52 may be disposed on the cover 10 and may engage the openings 52 in the wall 110 to secure the cover 10 to the wall 110.
Optionally, the body 12 of the cover 10 may be configured such that the side parts are adapted to the contour 132 of the urinal 130 to provide a friction fit with the urinal 130. For this purpose, the inner side of the cover 10 may be provided with a non-slip coating in this area.
FIGS. 4 and 5 show a further embodiment of the invention with a short cover 10. FIG. 4 shows a perspective front view of a cover 10 connected to a wall-side fastening element 52, as shown in the exemplary embodiment according to FIG. 1 . FIG. 5 shows a side view of the cover 10 according to FIG. 4 .
Unlike in the previous exemplary embodiment, the edge of the cover 10 does not completely surround the contour 132 of the urinal 130 attached to the wall 110. The cover 10 has a shorter design and covers the urinal 130 only to such an extent that the upper part 136 is covered up to and including the bowl opening 134 of the urinal 130, in order to make undesired use practically impossible. The cover 10 ends with an edge 14 approximately in the lower third of the urinal 130.
FIGS. 6 to 8 show a further embodiment of the invention. FIG. 6 shows a perspective front view of a jalousie- or lampion-like cover 10 over a wall-mounted urinal 130. FIG. 7 shows a view of the cover 10 and the urinal 130 according to FIG. 6 as seen from the wall side. FIG. 8 shows a perspective front view of the cover 10 and urinal 10 of FIG. 6 with the cover 10 open, pushed together, and resting against the wall 110.
The body 12 of the cover 10 is formed from a plurality of body segments 20 which, in the intended state of use, overlap the urinal 130 in a jalousie- or lampion-like manner. For this purpose, the cover 10 is fastened to the wall 110 with a frame as a fastening element 54 on the cover side, for example adhered to an adhesive surface or screwed on with screws and dowels or the like.
The body segments 20 may optionally each be rigidly formed. In the illustrated embodiment, these may have a flexurally soft or flexurally limp material which is stretched between stable ribs 56, two of which are indicated in FIG. 6 , in the intended state of use. When the cover 10 is pushed together, it then takes up particularly little space (FIG. 8 ).
FIG. 9 shows a perspective front view of a further embodiment of a jalousie- or tampion-like cover 10 over a wall-mounted urinal 130 similar to FIG. 6 . In this example, the cover 10 is shortened so that the entire urinal 130 is not covered, but the upper part 136 of the urinal is covered up to above the bowl opening 134. The cover 10 terminates with an edge 14 which, when the cover 10 is fully extended, is positioned at about the level of the bowl opening 134.
FIGS. 10 to 12 show a further embodiment of the invention. FIG. 10 shows a perspective front view of a wall-mounted urinal 130 with wall-side hook elements as fastening elements 52 with the cover 10 indicated transparently above it. FIG. 11 shows a perspective view of a section of an inner side of the cover 10 according to FIG. 10 as seen from the wall side. FIG. 12 shows one part of a sectional view through an area of the cover system 100 with cover 10 according to FIG. 10 and fastening elements 52, 54 of a fastener 50.
The cover 10 has a rigid body 12 curved outwardly away from the wall 110.
Two wall hooks are provided as wall-side fastening elements 52, into which an inwardly projecting bar of the cover 10 extending parallel to the wall 110 is suspended as a cover-side fastening element 54. The bar may have two cut-outs for this purpose.
It goes without saying that a cover system 100 with a shortened cover 10 as shown in FIG. 4 may also have such a fastener 50.
FIGS. 13 to 15 show a further embodiment of the invention. FIG. 13 shows a perspective front view of a wall-mounted urinal 130 with a wall-side fastening element 52 in the form of a hook bar. FIG. 14 shows in perspective view a section of an inner side of the cover 10 according to FIG. 13 as seen from the wall side. FIG. 15 shows a sectional view through an area of the cover system 100 with cover 10 according to FIG. 13 and fastening elements 52, 54 of a fastener 50.
The cover 10 has a rigid body 12 that curves outward away from the wall 110.
The hook bar is disposed above the urinal 130. Therein, the cover 10 can be hooked to the edge of the cover 10 with a bar extending inwardly parallel to the wall 110.
It goes without saying that a cover system 100 having a shortened cover 10, as shown in FIG. 4 , may also have such a fastener 50.
FIGS. 16 to 18 show a further embodiment of the invention. FIG. 16 shows a perspective front view of a wall-mounted urinal 130 with a wall-side magnetizable bar as fastening element 52 of the fastener with the cover 10 indicated transparently above it. FIG. 17 shows a perspective view of a section of an inner side of the cover 10 according to FIG. 16 as seen from the wall side and with magnets as cover-side fastening elements 54. FIG. 18 shows a section of a cutaway view through an area of the cover system 100 with cover 10 according to FIG. 16 and fastening elements 52, 54 of a fastener 50.
The magnets may advantageously be attached to the side of the two upper troughs 16 facing the wall 110. The magnets may optionally be provided as wall-side fastening elements 52 and magnetizable plates may be provided on the cover 10 instead of the magnets.
FIGS. 19 to 21 show a further embodiment of the invention. FIG. 19 shows a perspective front view of a wall-mounted urinal 130 with suction cups as cover-side fastening elements 54 with the cover 10 indicated transparently above it. FIG. 20 shows a perspective view of a section of an inner side of the cover 10 according to FIG. 19 as seen from the wall side. The cover 10 has a rigid body 12 curved outwardly away from the wall 110.
The wall 110 is provided with a surface suitable for the application of suction cups as a wall-side fastening element 52. There may also be a corresponding bar attached above the urinal 130 for this purpose.
It goes without saying that a cover system 100 with a shortened cover 10 as shown in FIG. 4 can also comprise such a fastener 50.
FIGS. 19 to 21 show a further embodiment of the invention. FIG. 22 shows a perspective front view of a wall-mounted urinal 130 with a cutout in the edge of the cover 10 as a cover-side fastening element 54 with the cover 10 indicated transparently above it. FIG. 23 shows a perspective view of a cutout of an inner side of the cover 10 according to FIG. 22 as seen from the wall side. The cover 10 has a rigid body 12 that curves outward away from the wall 110.
A water connection of a flushing setup of the urinal 130 protruding from the wall 110 is provided as the wall-side fastening element 52.
Above it, an inwardly projecting bar extending parallel to the wall 110 is arranged on the edge of the cover 10, with the water connection in the upper region 136 of the urinal 130 projecting into a cutout of the bar.
It goes without saying that a cover system 100 having a shortened cover 10, as shown in FIG. 4 , may also have such a fastener 50.
FIGS. 25 and 26 show a further embodiment of the invention. FIG. 25 shows a perspective front view of a cover 10 with the base 18 over a urinal 130 attached to the wall 110 and floor 120. FIG. 26 shows a perspective view of an inner side of the cover 10 with the base 18 according to FIG. 25 as seen from the wall side.
The cover 10 has a rigid body 12 curved outwardly away from the wall 110.
An inwardly projecting bar extending parallel to the wall 110 is provided on the edge as the cover-side fastening element 54 of the fastener 50. This can be inserted into a wall-side fastening element 52, for example wall hooks or a hook bar, similar to that shown in FIG. 12 or 14 . Alternatively or additionally, the inwardly projecting bar may be connected to the wall 110 by means of Velcro or an adhesive tape.
It goes without saying that a cover system 100 having a shortened cover 10 as shown in FIG. 4 may also have such a fastener 50.
FIG. 27 shows, as a further embodiment of the invention, a perspective front view of a cover 10 with the base 18 over a urinal 130 attached to the wall 110 and floor 120. Claims

1. A cover system comprising a cover and a fastener for at least temporarily rendering inoperative a urinal fixed to a wall and/or a floor,

wherein the fastener connects the cover to the wall and/or the floor, and

wherein the cover has a self-supporting body which, in the intended state of use, covers the urinal at least at an upper part at least up to its bowl opening.

2. The cover system of claim 1, wherein the self-supporting body of the cover completely covers the urinal.

3. The cover system of claim 1, wherein the body of the cover is of single-part construction, or

wherein the body of the cover is of multi-part construction.

4. The cover system of claim 1, wherein the body of the cover is formed from body segments which, in the intended state of use, overlap in a jalousie- or lampion-like manner the urinal at least at its bowl opening.

5. The cover system of claim 1, wherein the cover is modeled on an outer contour of the urinal.

6. The cover system of claim 1, wherein the fastener has one or more clamping elements with which the body of the cover is clamped to the urinal in the intended state of use, in particular wherein at least one region of the cover is designed for clamping to the cover.

7. The cover system of claim 1, wherein the fastener has, as a wall-side fastening element or cover-side fastening element, at least one latching means which, in the intended state of use, is latched to a complementary cover-side fastening element or wall-side fastening element, in particular wherein the fastener has, as the wall-side fastening element, one or more wall hooks and/or a hook bar.

8. The cover system of claim 1, wherein the fastener comprises a frame as wall-side fastening element and/or as cover-side fastening element.

9. The cover system of claim 1, wherein the fastener comprises one or more magnets as wall-side fastening element or cover-side fastening element and at least one retaining plate for magnets as complementary cover-side fastening element or wall-side fastening element.

10. The cover system of claim 1, wherein the fastener comprises at least one suction cup as wall-side fastening element or cover-side fastening element.

11. The cover system of claim 1, wherein the fastener has a recess as cover-side fastening element, with which the body of the cover is fastened, in the intended state of use, to a wall-side fastening element, in particular to a flush valve of the urinal.

12. The cover system of claim 1, wherein the fastener comprises a Velcro fastener and/or a double-sided adhesive tape as a wall-side fastening element or cover-side fastening element.

13. A cover for a cover system for a urinal fixed to a wall and/or a floor, of claim 1, with a self-supporting body which, in the intended state of use, can be connected to the wall and/or the floor using a fastener, wherein the body, in the intended state of use, covers the urinal in at least an upper part up to at least its bowl opening.

14. The cover of claim 13, wherein the self-supporting body completely covers the urinal.

15. The cover of claim 13, wherein the body is of single-part or

the body is of multi-part construction.

16. The cover of claim 13, wherein the body is formed from body segments which, in the intended state of use, overlap the urinal in at least an upper part up to its bowl opening in a jalousie- or tampion-like manner.

17. The cover of claim 13, wherein the body is modeled on an outer contour of the urinal, in particular wherein at least one region of the body is designed for clamping to the urinal.

18. The cover of claim 13, wherein a cover-side fastening element comprises at least one suction cup or at least one magnet.

19. The cover of claim 13, wherein a cover-side fastening element comprises a recess with which the body can be suspended on a wall-side fastening element.

20. The cover of claim 13, wherein a cover-side fastening element comprises a double-sided adhesive tape and/or a Velcro fastener.
