Abstract
Description
- This application is a national phase application of International Application No. PCT/FI2020/050823, filed on Dec. 8, 2020, and claims the priority benefit of Finnish Patent Application 20196066, filed on Dec. 9, 2019, the content of both of which is incorporated herein by reference.
- The present invention relates to a bottle and more particularly to a bottle as described in the preamble of the
independent claim 1. - The present invention further relates to a joint and more particular to a joint as described in the preamble of the
independent claim 8. - Many kinds of bottles are known in prior art.
- One of the problems associated with the prior art is that storage and transportation of bottles requires a lot of space. Another problem is that bottles according to prior art are difficult to carry when bottles are transported and when empty bottles are collected for example in a restaurant.
- An object of the present invention is to provide bottle and a joint for jointing two bottles together as to overcome or at least alleviate the prior art disadvantages.
- The invention is based on the idea of providing a bottle which comprises a top portion comprising an opening, a bottom portion and a shell portion extending between the top portion and the bottom portion. The top portion comprises a sealing part which is arranged to releasable cover the opening. The top portion, the bottom portion, the shell portion and the sealing part are arranged to define a bottle space. The bottom portion comprises a recess such that the bottom portion is dimensioned to receive at least a part of a top portion of another similar bottle. The bottle further comprises a locking arrangement such that the top portion comprises a first locking element and the bottom portion comprises a second locking element for locking the bottle and another similar bottle together. The first locking element comprises a first friction surface and the second locking element comprises a second friction surface such that the first friction surface is arranged to be locked with the second friction surface when locking the bottle and another similar bottle together. The sealing part comprises a screw thread portion. The first friction surface comprises one or more flexible protrusions arranged to protrude from the outer surface of the screw thread portion of the sealing part, and the second friction surface comprises at least a part of an outer surface of the recess. The locking bottles together and the releasing the bottles can be done rapidly. The bottles utilize efficiently a storage space.
- The recess in the bottom portion of the bottle is provided to the bottom surface of the bottle and the recess extends inwards into the bottle space from the bottom surface of the bottom portion of the bottle.
- In one embodiment, the top portion comprises a neck portion extending from the opening towards the shell portion and a taper portion between the neck portion and the shell portion. This further reduces needed storage space.
- In another embodiment, the sealing part and the neck portion comprise screw threads such that the sealing part is releasable connected to the neck portion. This improves an efficient use of the bottle.
- In a further embodiment, the sealing part further comprises a screw thread portion such that the screw thread portion is perpendicular to the opening and the screw thread portion forms at least a part of an outer surface of the top portion. This improves an efficient use of the bottle.
- In one embodiment of present invention, the recess has a form which is a compatible counter form of at least a part of the top portion.
- In alternative embodiment, the recess has a form which is a compatible counter form of at least a part of the neck portion and at least a part of the taper portion. This further improves an efficient use of a storage space.
- In another embodiment, the recess has a form which is a compatible counter form of at least a part of the sealing part.
- In a further embodiment, the recess has a form which is a compatible counter form of at least a part of sealing part and at least a part of the taper portion.
- Accordingly, the recess is arranged to receive the sealing part for locking two bottles together
- In one embodiment, the first locking element is provided to the top portion or outer surface of the top portion and the second locking element is provided to the recess or outer surface of the recess.
- In another embodiment, the first locking element is provided to the neck portion or outer surface of the neck portion and the second locking element is provided to the recess or outer surface of the recess.
- In further embodiment, the first locking element is provided to the sealing portion or outer surface of the sealing portion and the second locking element is provided to the recess or outer surface of the recess.
- Thus, two bottles may be attached to each other when they are arranged partly within each other by utilizing the recess in the bottom portion of the bottle.
- In one embodiment of present invention, the first locking element comprises a first snap-fit connector and the second locking element comprises a second snap-fit connector such that the first locking element is arranged to be locked with the second locking element of another similar bottle.
- In another embodiment, the first locking element comprises a first screw thread and the second locking element comprise a second screw thread which is a compatible counter screw thread for the first screw thread.
- In a further embodiment, the first locking element comprises a first friction surface and the second locking element comprises a second friction surface such that the first friction surface is arranged to be locked with the second friction surface when locking the bottle and another similar bottle together.
- In yet alternative embodiment, the first locking element comprises a first magnetic element and the second locking element comprises a second magnetic element such that the first locking element is arranged to be locked with the second locking element of another similar bottle.
- In further alternative embodiment, the first locking element comprises a first self-adhesive element and the second locking element comprises a second self-adhesive element such that the first locking element is arranged to be locked with the second locking element of another similar bottle.
- These locking elements further improves locking and releasing the bottles together.
- In a further embodiment, the first friction surface comprises one or more protrusions arranged to protrude from the outer surface of the sealing part and the second friction surface comprises at least a part of an outer surface of the recess; or the second friction surface comprises one or more protrusions arranged to protrude from the outer surface of recess and the first friction surface comprises at least a part of an outer surface the top portion. This further improves locking the bottles together.
- In another embodiment, the protrusions are flexible. This further improves locking the bottles together for transportation or storage.
- In one embodiment, the taper portion comprises a conical surface such that the taper portion narrows towards the opening. This further improves storage of bottles.
- In one embodiment, the neck portion comprises a right circular cylinder surface. This further improves locking the bottles together.
- In one embodiment the recess in the vicinity of the end of the bottle is wider than the top portion in the vicinity of the opening. This further improves locking the bottles together.
- In a preferred embodiment of the invention at least a part of the first locking element is wider than the second locking element such that the first locking element is arranged to squeeze against the second locking element for forming friction between the first locking element and second locking element.
- This further improves locking the bottles together.
- The invention is further based on the idea of providing a joint for connecting two bottles together. The joint comprises a first bottle and a second bottle, each bottle comprises a top portion comprising an opening, a bottom portion and a shell portion extending between the top portion and the bottom portion. The top portion further comprises a sealing part which is arranged to releasable cover the opening of the bottle. The top portion, the bottom portion, the shell portion and the sealing part are arranged to define a bottle space. The joint comprises the bottom portion of the first bottle comprising a recess such that the bottom portion is dimensioned to receive at least a part of a top portion of the second bottle. A locking arrangement such that the top portion of the first bottle comprises a first locking element and the bottom portion of second bottle comprises a second locking element for locking the first bottle and the second bottle together. At least a part of top portion of the first bottle is arranged to be placed inside the recess of the second bottle. The second locking element of the second bottle is arranged to be locked with the first locking element of the first bottle for forming a joint. The sealing part further comprises a screw thread portion which is perpendicular to the opening. The first locking element of the first bottle comprises a first friction surface which further comprises one or more protrusions arranged to protrude from the outer surface the screw thread portion of the sealing part and the second locking element of the second bottle comprises a second friction surface which further comprises at least a part of an outer surface of the recess. At least a part of the first locking element is wider than the second locking element such that the first locking element is arranged to squeeze against the second locking element for forming friction between the first locking element and second locking element.
- The recess in the bottom portion is provided to the bottom surface of the bottle and the recess extends inwards into the bottle space from the bottom surface of the bottom portion of the bottle.
- In one embodiment, the one or more protrusions being flexible.
- This improves locking the bottles together.
- The first locking element is provided to the top portion, the neck portion or the sealing part of the first bottle. In some embodiments, the first locking element is provided to outer surface of the top portion, outer surface of the neck portion or outer surface of the sealing part of the first bottle.
- The second locking element is provided to the recess of the bottom portion. In some embodiments, the second locking element is provided into or inside the recess or to the outer surface of the recess. The outer surface of the recess meaning the surface towards outside of the bottle space.
- The locking of bottles together and the releasing the locking are rapid actions. The locking can even reduce needed packing material when the bottles are packed for transportation. The locking of bottles together eases a collection of empty bottles. The bottles utilize efficiently a storage space.
- In one embodiment of the present invention the first locking element of the first bottle comprises a first friction surface which further comprises one or more protrusions arranged to protrude from the outer surface of the screw thread portion of the sealing part and the second locking element of the second bottle comprises a second friction surface which comprises at least a part of an outer surface of the recess; or the second locking element of the second bottle comprises a second friction surface which further comprises one or more protrusions arranged to protrude from the outer surface of recess and the first locking element of the first bottle comprises a first friction surface which comprises at least a part of an outer surface of the top portion. This improves locking the bottles together.
- In one embodiment, at least a part of the first locking element is wider than the second locking element such that the first locking element is arranged to squeeze against the second locking element for forming friction between the first locking element and second locking. This further improves locking the bottles together.
- In another embodiment, at least a part of the first locking element is wider than the second locking element such that the second locking element is arranged to squeeze against the first locking element for forming friction between the first locking element and the second locking element; or at least a part of the first locking element is wider than the second locking element such that the protrusions of the first locking element are arranged to bend for forming friction between the first locking element and second locking element. This further improves locking the bottles together.
- In one embodiment, at least a part of the first locking element is wider than the second locking element such that the protrusions of the first locking element or the second locking element are arranged to bend for forming friction between the first locking element and second locking element. This further improves locking the bottles together.
- An advantage of the invention is that bottles are easy to lock together and release, and bottles utilize efficiently a storage space. A stack of numerous bottles is easy to carry as bottles are jointed together.
- Further advantages, features and details of the present disclosure result from the following description of preferred embodiments and drawings. The characteristics and combinations of features mentioned above in the description, as well as the characteristics and combinations of features listed below in the description of figures and/or shown in the figures alone, are not limited to the combination indicated in each case; but can also be used in other combinations or on their own without leaving the scope of the invention.

If it is stated that a component includes “A, B, or C”, then, unless specifically stated otherwise or infeasible, the component may include A, or B, or C, or A and B, or A and C, or B and C, or A and B and C. FIG. 1 shows a bottle according to the invention. - The
bottle 1 comprises atop portion 2 comprising anopening 5, abottom portion 3, ashell portion 4 extending between thetop portion 2 and thebottom portion 3. Thetop portion 2 comprises a sealingpart 6 which is arranged to releasable cover theopening 5. Thetop portion 2, thebottom portion 3, theshell portion 4 and the sealingpart 6 are arranged to define abottle space 7. Thebottom portion 3 comprises arecess 8 such that thebottom portion 3 is dimensioned to receive at least a part of atop portion 2 of another similar bottle. Thebottle 1 comprises a locking arrangement such that thetop portion 2 comprises afirst locking element 10 and thebottom portion 3 comprises asecond locking element 11 for locking thebottle 1 and another similar bottle together. - The
recess 8 is provided to the bottom surface of thebottom portion 3 of thebottle 1, as shown inFIG. 1 . Therecess 8 extends intobottle 1 from the bottom surface ofbottom portion 8. Therecess 8 has anouter recess surface 16 defining the recess and being towards outside thebottle space 7. - The
top portion 2, thebottom portion 3 and theshell portion 4 comprise an outer surface and an inner surface such that the inner surface faces towards the bottle space and the outer surface faces outwards the bottle space. - In one embodiment the
top portion 2 comprises aneck portion 9 extending from theopening 5 towards theshell portion 4 and ataper portion 12 between theneck portion 9 and theshell portion 4. In other words, thetaper portion 12 is arranged to connect theneck portion 9 to theshell portion 4. Thetaper portion 12 is arranged to taper in a direction from theshell portion 4 towardsneck portion 9. Thetaper portion 12 has ataper surface 12. - In one embodiment, the
shell portion 4 and theneck portion 9 have rectangular or circular cross-section. - In one preferred embodiment the
neck portion 9 has a circular cross-section. - In one preferred embodiment the
shell portion 4 has a circular cross-section. - In one embodiment the cross-section of the
neck portion 9 is smaller than the cross-section of theshell portion 4. - In one embodiment the
neck portion 9 is arranged to a right circular cylinder form. - In one embodiment, an angle between the
taper portion 12 and the shell portion is 30-60 degrees. - In one embodiment, the sealing
part 6 and theneck portion 9 comprise screw threads such that the sealingpart 6 is releasable connected to theneck portion 9. - In one embodiment the sealing
part 6 further comprises a connecting part such that sealingpart 6 is arranged to be connected to thebottle 1 when the sealingpart 6 is released. In other words, the sealingpart 6 is easy to find for resealing thebottle 1. - In one embodiment the sealing
part 6 further comprises ascrew thread portion 13 such that thescrew thread portion 13 is perpendicular to theopening 5 and thescrew thread portion 13 forms at least a part of an outer surface of thetop portion 2. In other words, thescrew thread portion 13 covers at least a part of thetop portion 2. Preferably thescrew thread portion 13 covers at least a part of theneck portion 9. - In one embodiment the
recess 8 has a form which is a compatible counter form of at least a part of thetop portion 2. - In one embodiment, the
recess 8 comprises a conical portion and a circular cylinder portion. The conical portion has aconical surface 17, as shown inFIGS. 1 and 3 . - The conical portion or
conical surface 17 tapers towards therecess 8 or towards the circular cylinder portion of therecess 8. Further, the conical portion orconical surface 17 tapers from the bottom surface of the bottle towards therecess 8 or towards the circular cylinder portion of therecess 8. - The
conical surface 17 is preferably a counter form of the taper portion ortaper surface 12 of thetop portion 2. Thus, the tapering angle of thetaper portion 12 corresponds the tapering angle of theconical portion 17. - In one embodiment, the
recess 8 has a form which is a compatible counter form of at least a part of theneck portion 9 and at least a part of thetaper portion 12. - In one embodiment the conical portion of the
recess 8 has a form which is a compatible counter form of thetaper portion 12. - In one embodiment a circular cylinder portion of the
recess 8 has a form which is a compatible counter form of thetop portion 2. - In one embodiment material of the
bottle 1 is glass. In one embodiment material of thebottle 1 is metal. In one embodiment material of thebottle 1 is polymer. In a preferred embodiment material of thebottle 1 is polyethylene terephthalate (PET). - In one embodiment a diameter of the
shell portion 4 is 5-20 cm and a height of thebottle 1 is 10-50 cm. - Following embodiments are alternative embodiments of the first and the second locking elements.
- In one embodiment the
first locking element 10 comprises a first snap-fit connector and thesecond locking element 11 comprises a second snap-fit connector such that thefirst locking element 10 is arranged to be locked with thesecond locking element 11 of another similar bottle. In other words, a snap-fit connectors attach the bottle and another similar bottle by pushing the first and the second locking element together. - In one embodiment the
first locking element 10 comprises a first screw thread and thesecond locking element 11 comprise a second screw thread which is a compatible counter screw thread for the first screw thread. In other words, thebottle 1 and another similar bottle are connected together and released by the first and the second screw threads. In one embodiment the screw threads are arranged to thebottle 1 and to another similar bottle by forming the outer surface of the bottles. In one embodiment the sealingpart 6 comprises the first screw thread and therecess 8 comprises the second screw thread. In one embodiment theneck portion 9 comprises the first screw thread and therecess 8 comprises the second screw thread. In one embodiment the screw thread is arranged to thebottle 1 and another similar bottle such that less than one full turn locks the bottles together. - In one embodiment the
first locking element 10 comprises a first magnetic element and thesecond locking element 11 comprises a second magnetic element such that thefirst locking element 10 is arranged to be locked with thesecond locking element 11 of another similar bottle. Preferably, a first magnetic element is added by an adhesive material or is embedded in thetop portion 2 and a second magnetic element is added by an adhesive material or is embedded in thebottom portion 3. In other words, thebottle 1 is locked with another similar bottle by a magnetic force. - In one embodiment the
first locking element 10 comprises a first self-adhesive element and thesecond locking element 11 comprises a second self-adhesive element such that thefirst locking element 10 is arranged to be locked with thesecond locking element 11 of another similar bottle. - In one preferred embodiment the
first locking element 10 comprises afirst friction surface 21 and thesecond locking element 11 comprises asecond friction surface 22 such that thefirst friction surface 21 is arranged to be locked with thesecond friction surface 22 when locking thebottle 1 and another similar bottle together. In other words, thebottle 1 is locked with another similar bottle by a friction force. - In one embodiment, the
first locking element 10 is provided to thetop portion 2 or outer surface of thetop portion 2. - In another embodiment, the
first locking element 10 is provided to theneck portion 9 orouter surface 15 of theneck portion 9. - In further embodiment, the
first locking element 10 is provided to the sealingportion 6 or outer surface of the sealingportion 6. - In some embodiments, the
second locking element 11 is provided to therecess 8 orouter surface 16 of therecess 8. - In other embodiments, the
second locking element 11 is provided to the circular cylindrical portion of therecess 8 or outer surface thereof. - In other embodiments, the
second locking element 11 is provided to theconical portion 17 of therecess 8 or outer surface thereof. -
FIG. 2 shows a sealingpart 6 as seen from other side. - In one embodiment the
first friction surface 21 comprises one ormore protrusions 20 arranged to protrude from theouter surface 15 of the sealingpart 6 and thesecond friction surface 22 comprises at least a part of an outer surface of therecess 8. Preferably, thefirst friction surface 21 comprises at least fourprotrusions 20 arranged to protrude from the outer surface of thescrew thread portion 13. - In another embodiment the
second friction surface 22 comprises one or more protrusions arranged to protrude from theouter surface 16 ofrecess 8 and the first friction surface 21comprises at least a part of an outer surface thetop portion 2. Preferably, thesecond friction surface 22 comprises at least four protrusions arranged to protrude from the outer surface of therecess 8. - In one embodiment the one or
more protrusions 20 are flexible. In other words, theprotrusions 20 are arranged to deform when thebottle 1 and another similar bottle are locked together. The deformation creates a pressure and thus a friction force between the first andsecond friction surface 22. - In one embodiment the
taper portion 12 comprises a conical surface such that the taper portion narrows 12 towards theopening 5. - In one embodiment the
neck portion 9 comprises a right circular cylinder surface. - In one embodiment, the
recess 8 in the vicinity of the end of thebottle 1 is wider than thetop portion 2 in the vicinity of theopening 5. -
FIG. 3 shows a joint according to the invention for connecting two 1 a, 1 b together. The joint 14 comprises abottles first bottle 1 a and asecond bottle 1 b, each 1 a, 1 b comprises abottle top portion 2 comprising anopening 5, abottom portion 3, ashell portion 4 extending between thetop portion 2 and thebottom portion 3. Thetop portion 2 further comprises a sealingpart 6 which is arranged to releasable cover theopening 5 of thebottle 1. Thetop portion 2, thebottom portion 3, theshell portion 4 and the sealingpart 6 are arranged to define abottle space 7. The joint 14 comprises thebottom portion 3 of thefirst bottle 1 a comprising arecess 8 such that thebottom portion 3 is dimensioned to receive at least a part of atop portion 2 of thesecond bottle 1 b. The joint 14 further comprises a locking arrangement such that thetop portion 2 of thefirst bottle 1 a comprises afirst locking element 10 and thebottom portion 3 ofsecond bottle 1 b comprises asecond locking element 11 for locking thefirst bottle 1 a and thesecond bottle 1 b together. At least a part oftop portion 2 of thefirst bottle 1 a is arranged to be placed inside therecess 8 of thesecond bottle 1 b. Thesecond locking element 11 of thesecond bottle 1 b is arranged to be locked with thefirst locking element 10 of thefirst bottle 1 a for forming a joint. - Following embodiments are alternative embodiments of the
first locking element 10 and thesecond locking element 11. - In one embodiment the
first locking element 10 comprises a first snap-fit connector and thesecond locking element 11 comprises a second snap-fit connector such that thefirst locking element 10 is arranged to be locked with thesecond locking element 11 of another similar bottle. In other words, a snap-fit connectors attach the bottle and another similar bottle by pushing the first and the second locking element together. - In one embodiment the
first locking element 10 comprises a first screw thread and thesecond locking element 11 comprise a second screw thread which is a compatible counter screw thread for the first screw thread. In other words, thebottle 1 and another similar bottle are connected together and released by the first and the second screw threads. In one embodiment the screw threads are arranged to thebottle 1 and to another similar bottle by forming the outer surface of the bottles. In one embodiment the sealingpart 6 comprises the first screw thread and therecess 8 comprises the second screw thread. In one embodiment theneck portion 9 comprises the first screw thread and therecess 8 comprises the second screw thread. In one embodiment the screw thread is arranged to thebottle 1 and another similar bottle such that less than one full turn locks the bottles together. - In one embodiment the
first locking element 10 comprises a first magnetic element and thesecond locking element 11 comprises a second magnetic element such that thefirst locking element 10 is arranged to be locked with thesecond locking element 11 of another similar bottle. Preferably, a first magnetic element is added by an adhesive material or is embedded in thetop portion 2 and a second magnetic element is added by an adhesive material or is embedded in thebottom portion 3. In other words, thebottle 1 is locked with another similar bottle by a magnetic force. - In one embodiment the
first locking element 10 comprises a first self-adhesive element and thesecond locking element 11 comprises a second self-adhesive element such that thefirst locking element 10 is arranged to be locked with thesecond locking element 11 of another similar bottle. - In a preferred embodiment of the invention the
first locking element 10 of thefirst bottle 1 a comprises afirst friction surface 21 which further comprises one ormore protrusions 20 arranged to protrude from the outer surface thescrew thread portion 13 of the sealingpart 6 and thesecond locking element 11 of thesecond bottle 1 b comprises asecond friction surface 22 which further comprises at least a part of an outer surface of therecess 8. In an alternative embodiment thesecond locking element 11 of thesecond bottle 1 b comprises asecond friction surface 22 which further comprises one or more protrusions arranged to protrude from the outer surface ofrecess 8 and thefirst locking element 10 of thefirst bottle 1 a comprises afirst friction surface 21 which further comprises at least a part of an outer surface of thetop portion 2. - In a preferred embodiment of the invention at least a part of the
first locking element 10 is wider than thesecond locking element 11 such that thefirst locking element 10 is arranged to squeeze against thesecond locking element 11 for forming friction between thefirst locking element 10 andsecond locking element 11. In an alternative embodiment at least a part of thefirst locking element 10 is wider than thesecond locking element 11 such that thesecond locking element 11 is arranged to squeeze against thefirst locking element 10 for forming friction between thefirst locking element 10 and thesecond locking element 11. - In a preferred embodiment of the invention at least a part of the
first locking element 10 is wider than thesecond locking element 11 such that theprotrusions 20 of thefirst locking element 10 or the protrusions of thesecond locking element 11 are arranged to bend for forming friction between thefirst locking element 10 andsecond locking element 11. In an alternative embodiment at least a part of thefirst locking element 10 is wider than thesecond locking element 11 such that the protrusions of thesecond locking element 11 are arranged to bend for forming friction between thefirst locking element 10 andsecond locking element 11. - As shown in
FIG. 3 , thetaper portion 12 and the taper surface of thetop portion 2 of thefirst bottle 1 b preferably corresponds the conical portion orconical surface 17 of thesecond bottle 1 b. Thus, thetop portion 2 of thefirst bottle 1 a is arranged into therecess 8 of thesecond bottle 1 b, thetaper portion 12 and the taper surface of thetop portion 2 of thefirst bottle 1 b and the conical portion orconical surface 17 of thesecond bottle 1 b are parallel to each other. In some embodiments, thetaper portion 12 and the taper surface of thetop portion 2 of thefirst bottle 1 b and the conical portion orconical surface 17 of thesecond bottle 1 b are against each other. - In some embodiments, the
recess 8 has a form which is a compatible counter form of at least a part of thetop portion 2 and thus therecess 8 is arranged to receive thetop portion 2 of another bottle. - Alternatively, the
recess 8 has a form which is a compatible counter form of at least a part of theneck portion 9 and at least a part of thetaper portion 12, and thus therecess 8 is arranged to receive theneck portion 9 and at least a part of thetaper portion 12 of another bottle. - Further alternatively, the
recess 8 has a form which is a compatible counter form of at least a part of the sealingpart 6, and thus therecess 8 is arranged to receive at least part of the sealingportion 6 of another bottle. - Yet alternatively, the
recess 8 has a form which is a compatible counter form of at least a part of the sealingpart 6 and at least a part of thetaper portion 12, and thus therecess 8 is arranged to receive at least a part of the sealingpart 6 and at least a part of thetaper portion 12 of another bottle. - The invention has been described above with reference to the examples shown in the figures. However, the invention is in no way restricted to the above examples but may vary within the scope of the claims. The figures are merely schematic representations and serve only to explain the invention. Elements that are identical or have the same effect are consistently marked with the same reference signs.
