  • FIELD
  • The present invention relates to a factory prefabricated filter sleeve for filling with a smoking product and for smoking by a consumer, the factory prefabricated filter sleeve comprising a conical paper sleeve and a filter.
  • BACKGROUND
  • Such a filter sleeve was previously described in US 2017/0013873 A1. The filter sleeve therein described has a filter which is not described in greater detail. The disadvantage of these known filter sleeves is that the manufacturing outlay is considerable and/or no desirable filter effect is provided.
  • SUMMARY
  • An aspect of the present invention is to provide a factory prefabricated filter sleeve which is improved with regard to at least one of the above mentioned disadvantages.
  • In an embodiment, the present invention provides a factory prefabricated filter sleeve which is configured to be filled with a smoking product. The factory prefabricated filter sleeve includes a conical paper sleeve and a filter which comprises an activated carbon.
  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
  • The present invention is described in greater detail below on the basis of embodiments and of the drawings in which:
  • FIG. 1 is a side view of the first embodiment of a filter sleeve according to the present invention;
  • FIG. 2 is a side view of the second embodiment of a filter sleeve according to the present invention; and
  • FIG. 3 shows a detail from FIG. 2 in which the opening angle is enlarged for clarity.
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION
  • The filter of the filter sleeve according to the present invention comprises activated carbon. A good filter effect can thereby be achieved. The filter can, for example, be designed as an activated carbon filter.
  • The filter sleeve can, for example, be intended for non-factory filling with a smoking product, for example, in the manner described in US 2017/0013873 A1.
  • As is already known per se, the filter can, for example, be arranged on a side of the filter sleeve that faces the smoker when smoking. The filter can also be referred to as a mouthpiece. The filter can, for example, have a circular diameter. The filter can be conical.
  • The filter sleeve can, for example, consist of the conical paper sleeve and the filter, i.e., it has no further components.
  • The smoking product can comprise plant components such as, for example, tobacco, or can be formed thereby. The smoking product can comprise medically active substances. It has surprisingly been shown that, although a substantial amount of harmful substances is filtered out from the inhaled smoke by the activated carbon filter, a majority of the medically active substances pass through the filter.
  • The filter can, for example, be cylindrical and have a diameter which is constant over the length thereof. It has been shown that a simple and reliable arrangement of a cylindrical filter in a conical paper sleeve is possible. It is thereby possible to dispense with conceivable special conical designs of activated carbon filters, which would mean an increased manufacturing outlay. The diameter of the filter can, for example, be approximately 6 mm or approximately 8 mm.
  • The filter can, for example, be non-positively connected to the paper sleeve. The filter can be exclusively non-positively connected to the paper sleeve.
  • The filter can, for example, comprise an edge-side region and a smoking product-side region. The edge-side region of the filter faces the smoker while the filled filter sleeve is being smoked, while the smoking product-side region of the filter faces the smoking product when the filter sleeve is being filled.
  • The edge-side region of the filter can, for example, be arranged without play in the paper sleeve. The non-positive arrangement of the filter can thereby be achieved. The gas-tight and smoking product-tight closure between the filter and the paper sleeve can, for example, be achieved as a result.
  • The smoking product-side region of the filter can, for example, be arranged with play in the paper sleeve. It has been shown that this has no disadvantage. This is because the gas-tight and smoking product-tight closure between the filter and the paper sleeve can, for example, already be provided by the play-free arrangement of the edge-side region of the filter in the paper sleeve.
  • The filter can be integrally bonded to the paper sleeve, for example, glued.
  • The paper sleeve can be flush with the edge-side region of the filter.
  • A particularly reliable connection between the filter and the paper sleeve can be achieved if a stop/stops is/are provided to prevent the filter from slipping out of the paper sleeve, even in the case of a cylindrical filter.
  • The paper sleeve can, for example, have a first end which can, for example, face the smoker when the filled filter sleeve is being smoked, and a second end opposite to the first end. The second end of the paper sleeve is then lit for smoking.
  • The stop(s) can, for example, prevent the filter from slipping out of the first end of the paper sleeve. The filter can, for example, be prevented from slipping out of the paper sleeve in the opposite direction by the smoking product when the filter sleeve is filled.
  • A particularly simple and reliable connection between the filter and the paper sleeve can be achieved if the stop(s) comprise(s) the paper sleeve projecting beyond the edge-side region of the filter. Due to the conicity of the paper sleeve, a first end of the paper sleeve can then, for example, have a first diameter which is smaller than the diameter of the filter, and the filter can reliably be prevented from slipping out of the first end of the paper sleeve.
  • The region of the paper sleeve that projects beyond the edge-side region of the filter can be folded toward the filter until it at least almost comes into contact with the associated end face of the filter, where it can be glued to itself and/or to the end face of the filter.
  • The filter can, for example, comprise an edge-side end piece. The filter can, for example, comprise a smoking product-side end piece. At least one end piece can, for example, be dimensionally stable. At least one end piece can comprise ceramic material or be formed therefrom. The filter can, for example, comprise a sleeve. At least one end piece can, for example, be arranged in the sleeve. The sleeve can, for example, comprise paper or cardboard or be formed therefrom. The filter can, for example, comprise a filling, for example, a filling made of activated carbon.
  • The paper sleeve can, for example, have a first end having a first diameter of approximately 8 mm and a second end having a second diameter of between approximately 9 mm and approximately 14 mm, for example, approximately 10 mm.
  • In another embodiment, the paper sleeve has a first end having a first diameter of approximately 6 mm and a second end having a second diameter of between approximately 7 mm and approximately 12 mm, for example, approximately 8 mm.
  • The conical paper sleeve can, for example, have exactly one opening angle. The lateral surface of the conical paper sleeve can, for example, not have a bend and can, for example, also not have a step. The entire paper sleeve can, for example, be designed to be conical.
  • The opening angle of the conical paper sleeve can be between 0.5° and 5° or between 0.5° and 2°. This angle can be approximately 5° or approximately 4° or approximately 3° or approximately 2° or approximately 1.5° or approximately 1° or approximately 0.5°.
  • The filter sleeve has an overall length. The overall length can be between approximately 9 cm and 20 cm, for example, between approximately 10 cm and approximately 12 cm and, for example, approximately 11 cm.
  • The filter has a filter length. The length can be between approximately 15 and 50 mm, for example, between 25 and 40 mm.
  • The present invention will be explained in greater detail below under reference to an embodiment as shown in the drawings.
  • The first embodiment of the filter sleeve that is shown in FIG. 1 and denoted by reference sign 100 (hereinafter filter sleeve 100) is factory prefabricated and is intended for non-factory filling with a smoking product, for example, by a smoker. The filled filter sleeve 100 can be lit and smoked.
  • The filter sleeve 100 comprises a conical paper sleeve 1 and a filter 2. The filter 2 is designed as an activated carbon filter and comprises activated carbon 3.
  • The filter 2 is arranged on the side of the filter sleeve 100 that faces the smoker when smoking and can also be referred to as a mouthpiece.
  • The filter 2 is cylindrical. The filter 2 has an edge-side region 4 which faces the smoker while the filled filter sleeve is being smoked, and a smoking product-side region 5 which faces the smoking product when the filter sleeve 100 is filled. The filter 2 has a diameter of approximately 6 mm or approximately 8 mm.
  • The filter 2 is non-positively connected to the conical paper sleeve 1. The edge-side region 4 of the filter 2 is arranged without play in the conical paper sleeve 1.
  • The smoking product-side region 5 of the filter 2 is arranged with play 15 in the conical paper sleeve 1.
  • Apart from the filling made of activated carbon 3, the filter 2 consists of three parts, specifically, a smoking product-side end piece 7, an edge-side end piece 6, and a sleeve 8. The two end pieces 6, 7 are dimensionally stable. The two end pieces 6, 7 consist of ceramic material. The sleeve 8 is formed from cardboard.
  • The filter sleeve 100 has a first end 11 which faces the smoker when the filled filter sleeve 100 is being smoked, and a second end 12 which is opposite the first end 11. The first end 11 has a first diameter 13 of approximately 8 mm and the second end 12 has a second diameter 14 of approximately 10 mm.
  • The conical paper sleeve 1 has exactly one opening angle α. The lateral surface of the conical paper sleeve 1 does not have a bend or a step. The opening angle α of the conical paper sleeve 1 is approximately 1°.
  • The filter sleeve 100 has a total length 10. This total length is approximately 11 cm. The ratio of the filter length 9 to the total length 10 of the filter sleeve 100 is approximately ⅓ in the embodiments shown in the drawings.
  • In the filter sleeve 100, the conical paper sleeve 1 ends flush with the edge-side region 4 of the filter 2, see FIG. 1.
  • Another embodiment of the present invention is shown in FIGS. 2 and 3. The same reference signs thereby denote the same components. In this respect, reference is made to the description above. Only the differences with respect to the first embodiment shown in FIG. 1 are described below.
  • The second embodiment of the filter sleeve according to the present invention that is shown in FIGS. 2 and 3 and denoted by reference sign 200 (hereinafter filter sleeve 200) has stops 16 to prevent the filter 2 from slipping out of the first end 11 of the conical paper sleeve 1.
  • The stops 16 are formed by the conical paper sleeve 1 projecting beyond the edge-side region 4 of the filter 2 (see FIGS. 2 and 3).
  • As shown in particular in FIG. 3, in which the opening angle α′ is shown greatly enlarged for the purpose of clearer illustration, due to the conicity of the conical paper sleeve 1, a first end 11 of the conical paper sleeve 1 has a first diameter 13 which is smaller than the diameter 17 of the filter 2, which prevents the filter 2 from slipping out of the first end 11 of the conical paper sleeve 1.
  • The region of the conical paper sleeve 1 that projects beyond the edge-side region 4 of the filter 2, in the case of the filter sleeve 200, can be folded toward the filter 2 until it at least almost comes into contact with the end face of the filter 2, where it can be glued to itself and/or to the end face of the filter 2 (which is not shown in the drawings).
  • The present invention is not limited to embodiments described herein; reference should be had to the appended claims.
