Abstract

A mechanized toy sword, automated and configured to extend, retract, produce sound effects, produce vibration effects and illuminate the blade during blade extension and remains illuminated until fully retracted to offer a more realistic representation of a sword made of light.

Description

    FIELD
  • The present disclosure relates to toy swords and more specifically, mechanisms that would extend and retract a collapsible blade that illuminates when extending and remains illuminated until fully retracted; providing a more realistic representation of a sword made of light, and increase the overall enjoyment for the user.
  • BACKGROUND
  • Currently toy swords that illuminate the blade are long and fixed and leave the perceived function of a ‘shaft of light’ rapidly appearing out of a hilt and retracting back in, to the user's imagination.
  • Toy swords with long fixed blades are more difficult to store than a toy sword that has a collapsible blade.
  • Toy swords would be easier to wear or conceal when a collapsible blade is in its stored position vs. toy swords with long fixed blades; increasing the ability of the user to surprise their rivals and wear comfortably.
  • SUMMARY
  • The present disclosure is a method and mechanisms for a toy sword with a collapsible blade that illuminates, to extend and retract the blade section.
  • In one embodiment of the present disclosure, a toy sword with a collapsible blade is provided. The toy sword's collapsible blade is extended by releasing compressed CO2 gas inside the retracted blade sections forcing them to their extended position.
  • In another embodiment of the present disclosure, a toy sword with a collapsible blade is provided. The toy sword's collapsible blade is retracted by a blade retraction cord connected to a spring recoil. As compressed CO2 gas forces out the blade sections to their extended position, the blade retraction cord is unwound from a spool connected to the spring recoil and stores the spring tension with an auto-locking mechanism that prevents the spring recoil spool from turning until, a integrated release mechanism is activated rapidly retracting the collapsible blade sections to their stored position.
  • In another embodiment of the present disclosure, a toy sword with a collapsible blade is provided. The collapsible blade is constructed of a series of translucent or transparent blade sections configured to fit inside the blade section directly below it. The collapsible blade sections will remain in the extended position from the friction of the blade sections pressed against the walls of the lower blade section.
  • In another embodiment of the present disclosure, a toy sword with a collapsible blade is provided. The toy sword's collapsible blade is illuminated by a integrated lighting system.
  • In another embodiment of the present disclosure, a toy sword with a collapsible blade is provided. The collapsible blade sections are configured with blade section retraction catches; during blade retraction they will catch on the top of the blade section directly below it.
