Abstract

A dual hanging device for hanging tools in a jug and the jug to a ladder includes a rod, which is resiliently flexible and comprises a medial segment, which is engaged to and disposed between first and second segments. The rod is shaped so that the rod can be inserted of into a jug, which has a cutout positioned in a front thereof proximate to a top thereof. The first segment is inserted such that it extends through a hollow handle of the jug. The medial segment protrudes through a top of the jug to define a hanging hook, which can selectively hook to an element of a ladder. The second segment is disposed within the jug proximate to the cutout to define a set of tool hooks. A respective tool hook can selectively engage a tool so that the tool is removably engaged thereto.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

(1) Field of the Invention

The disclosure relates to hanging devices and more particularly pertains to a new hanging device for hanging tools in a jug and the jug to a ladder.

(2) Description of Related Art Including Information Disclosed Under 37 CFR 1.97 and 1.98

The prior art relates to hanging devices, particularly devices for hanging jugs and brushes utilized in painting. Such prior art hanging devices may comprise brackets for engaging buckets and brushes to a ladder, and devices for suspending brushes over buckets,

BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

An embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising a rod, which is resiliently flexible and comprises a medial segment, which is engaged to and disposed between a first segment and a second segment. The rod is shaped so that the rod is configured to be inserted of into a jug, which has a cutout positioned in a front thereof proximate to a top thereof.
The first segment of the rod is inserted such that it extends through a hollow handle of the jug. The medial segment of the rod protrudes through a top of the jug to define a hanging hook. The second segment is disposed within the jug proximate to the cutout to define a set of tool hooks. The hanging hook is configured to selectively hook to an element of a ladder, such as an S-hook, to removably engage the jug thereto. A respective tool hook is configured to selectively engage a tool, such as a paint brush, so that the tool is removably engaged thereto.
A user is positioned to add paint to the jug via the cutout and to hang the jug from the ladder using the hanging hook. The user also can hang paint brushes from the tool hooks. With the jug hanging from the ladder, the user can readily dip a brush into the paint. When a brush is not in use, it can be hung from a tool hook so that excess paint drips back into the jug.
There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the disclosure in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.
The objects of the disclosure, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the disclosure, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to FIGS. 1 through 4 thereof, a new hanging device embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by the reference numeral 10 will be described.
As best illustrated in FIGS. 1 through 4, the dual hanging device 10 generally comprises a rod 12, which is resiliently flexible. The rod 12 comprises a medial segment 14, which is engaged to and disposed between a first segment 16 and a second segment 18. The rod 12 is shaped so that the rod 12 is configured to be inserted of into a jug 20, which has a cutout 22 positioned in a front 24 thereof proximate to a top 26 thereof.
The first segment 16 of the rod 12 is inserted such that it extends through a hollow handle 28 of the jug 20. The medial segment 14 of the rod 12 protrudes through the top 26 of the jug 20 to define a hanging hook 30. The second segment 18 is disposed within the jug 20 proximate to the cutout 22 to define a set of tool hooks 32. The hanging hook 30 is configured to selectively hook to an element of a ladder, such as an S-hook, to removably engage the jug 20 thereto. A respective tool hook 32 is configured to selectively engage a tool, such as a paint brush, so that the tool is removably engaged thereto.
A user is positioned to add paint to the jug 20 via the cutout 22 and to hang the jug 20 from the ladder using the hanging hook 30. The user also can hang paint brushes from the set of tool hooks 32. With the jug 20 hanging from the ladder, the user can readily dip a paint brush into the paint. When a paint brush is not in use, it can be hung from the tool hook 32 so that excess paint drips back into the jug 20. The jug 20 with rod 12 attached also can be used for other tasks, such as in spackling application, dry wall mudding, and the like.
The medial segment 14 is substantially elongated C-shaped. The first segment 16 extends arcuately from a first end 34 of the medial segment 14 so that the first segment 16 is insertable through the hollow handle 28 of the jug 20. A terminal section 36 of the first segment 16 extends arcuately past the hollow handle 28 to engage the jug 20 proximate to a lower end 38 of the hollow handle 28, allowing the rod 12 to bear the weight of the jug 20 and contents thereof.
The second segment 18 comprises a first section 40 and a second section 42. The first section 40 is engaged to and extends substantially perpendicularly from a second end 44 of the medial segment 14. The second section 42 is engaged to and extends substantially perpendicularly from the first section 40 distal from the medial segment 14 so that the second section 42 is substantially parallel to and coplanar with the medial segment 14. The second segment 18 is inserted into a hole in a handle of a tool so that the tool hangs from the first section 40 of the second segment 18. The second section 42 of the second segment 18 prevents the tools from sliding off of the tool hook 32.
The rod 12 may comprise metal so that it is resiliently bendable, or other resiliently bendable material, such as plastic and the like. As shown in FIG. 1, the set of tool hooks 32 may comprise one tool hook 32, although the present invention anticipates the second segment 18 being forked so that the set of tool hooks 32 comprises more than one tool hook 32.
The present invention includes a method of manufacturing a dual hanging device 10 and jug 20 combination. The method comprises the steps of:

- 1. providing a jug 20 having a hollow handle 28 engaged thereto proximate to a top 26 thereof. The top 26 of the jug 20 is open. The jug 20 may be substantially transparent so that contents thereof are visible,
- 2. creating a cutout 22 in a front 24 of the jug 20 proximate to the top 26,
- 3. providing a rod 12, which is bendable,
- 4. bending the rod 12 to define a medial segment 14 that is substantially elongated C-shaped and which defines a hanging hook 30,
- 5. inserting the rod 12 by opposed ends 46 thereof into the top 26 of the jug 20 so that one opposed end 46 enters the hollow handle 28 and a first segment 16 of the rod 12, with bending, passes therethrough. A second segment 18 of the rod 12 is positioned in the jug 20 proximate to the cutout 22,
- 6. bending a terminal section 36 of the first segment 16, which extends past the hollow handle 28, to that the terminal section 36 engages the jug 20 proximate to a lower end 38 of the hollow handle 28, and
- 7. bending the rod 12 twice so that a first section 40 of the second segment 18 extends substantially perpendicularly from the medial segment 14 and a second section 42 of the second segment 18 extends substantially perpendicularly from the first section 40 distal from the medial segment
- 14. The second section 42 is substantially parallel to and coplanar with the medial segment 14. The second segment 18 thus defines a set of tool hooks 32.

In use, a user adds paint to the jug 20 via the cutout 22 and the jug 20 is hung from the ladder using the hanging hook 30. The user hangs paint brushes from the set of tool hook 32. With the jug 20 hanging from the ladder, the user can readily dip a paint brush into the paint. When a paint brush is not in use, it can be hung from the tool hook 32 so that excess paint drips back into the jug 20.
With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.
Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the elements is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.

Claims

I claim:

1. A dual hanging device comprising a rod, the rod being resiliently flexible, the rod comprising a medial segment engaged to and disposed between a first segment and a second segment, the rod being shaped such that the rod is configured for inserting into a jug having a cutout positioned in a front thereof proximate to a top thereof, such that the first segment of the rod extends through a hollow handle of the jug, the medial segment of the rod protrudes through the top of the jug defining a hanging hook, and the second segment is disposed within the jug proximate to the cutout defining a set of tool hooks, wherein the hanging hook is configured for selectively hooking to an element of a ladder for removably engaging the jug thereto, wherein a respective tool hook is configured for selectively engaging a tool such that the tool is removably engaged thereto.

2. The dual hanging device of claim 1, wherein the rod comprises metal.

3. The dual hanging device of claim 1, wherein the set of tool hooks comprises one tool hook.

4. The dual hanging device of claim 1, wherein:

the medial segment is substantially elongated C-shaped;

the first segment extends arcuately from a first end of the medial segment, such that the first segment is insertable through the hollow handle of the jug and such that a terminal section of the first segment extends arcuately past the hollow handle to engage the jug proximate to a lower end of the hollow handle; and

the second segment comprising a first section and a second section, the first section being engaged to and extending substantially perpendicularly from a second end of the medial segment, the second section being engaged to and extending substantially perpendicularly from the first section distal from the medial segment, such that the second section is substantially parallel to and coplanar with the medial segment.

5. A dual hanging device and jug combination comprising:

a jug having a cutout positioned in a front thereof proximate to a top thereof, the top being open;

a hollow handle engaged to the jug proximate to the top;

a rod comprising a medial segment engaged to and disposed between a first segment and a second segment, the first segment of the rod extending through the hollow handle of the jug, the medial segment of the rod protruding through the top of the jug defining a hanging hook, and the second segment being disposed within the jug proximate to the cutout defining a set of tool hooks, wherein the hanging hook is configured for selectively hooking to an element of a ladder for removably engaging the jug thereto, wherein a respective tool hook is configured for selectively engaging a tool such that the tool is removably engaged thereto.

6. The dual hanging device and jug combination of claim 5, wherein the jug is substantially transparent.

7. The dual hanging device and jug combination of claim 5, wherein the rod comprises metal.

8. The dual hanging device and jug combination of claim 5, wherein the set of tool hooks comprises one tool hook.

9. A method of manufacturing a dual hanging device and jug combination, the method comprising the steps of:

providing a jug having a hollow handle engaged thereto proximate to a top thereof, the top being open;

creating a cutout in a front of the jug proximate to the top;

providing a rod, the rod being bendable;

bending the rod to define a medial segment, the medial segment being substantially elongated C-shaped defining a hanging hook;

inserting the rod by opposed ends thereof into the top of the jug, such that one opposed end enters the hollow handle and a first segment of the rod passes therethrough and such that a second segment of the rod is positioned in the jug proximate to the cutout;

bending a terminal section of the first segment extending past the hollow handle, such that the terminal section engages the jug proximate to a lower end of the hollow handle; and

bending the rod twice such that a first section of the second segment extends substantially perpendicularly from the medial segment and a second section of the second segment extends substantially perpendicularly from the first section distal from the medial segment, such that the second section is substantially parallel to and coplanar with the medial segment, and such that the second segment defines a set of tool hooks.

10. The method of claim 9, wherein the jug is substantially transparent.

11. The method of claim 9, wherein the rod comprises metal.

12. The method of claim 9, wherein the set of tool hooks comprises one tool hook.
