Abstract

An archery sight mounting device (5) configured to mount an archery sight (6) to a bow main body (1) of an archery bow including a handle (2) having a pair of screw holes (3, 4) formed in such a manner as to be aligned in an up-and-down direction of the handle. A fixed member (9) is allowed to be fixed to the handle with a screw under a state in which the fixed member is inverted up and down. The fixed member has a pair of screw insertion holes (20) configured to allow insertion of fixing screws (19) that are threadedly engaged with the screw holes formed in the handle. The screw insertion holes are formed in such a manner as to be aligned in the up-and-down direction in a region closer to any one of end portions (21, 22) of the fixed member in the up-and-down direction.

Description

    BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION 1. Field of the Invention
  • The present invention relates to an archery sight mounting device configured to mount an archery sight to a handle of a bow portion of a bow to be used for archery such that the archery sight is arranged at a position separated forward from the handle.
  • 2. Description of the Related Art
  • A sight is mounted to a handle of a bow portion of a bow to be used for archery in order to accurately sight a fitted arrow. In general, the sight is mounted to the bow through intermediation of an archery sight mounting device. In general, the archery sight mounting device includes an extension bar. The sight is mounted on a forward end side of the extension bar. Aback end side of the extension bar is fixed to the handle. The sight is arranged at a position apart from eyes of an archer by a predetermined distance in a direction toward a target, thereby allowing the archer to take aim at the target more accurately and more easily.
  • In recent years, in general, the sight is mounted at the forward end of the extension bar of the archery sight mounting device through intermediation of an elevation bar, which includes a mechanism for positioning the sight and supports the sight such that the sight is movable in a vertical direction (see, for example, Japanese Patent Application Laid-open No. 2007-315746).
  • According to the archery sight mounting device described above, a position of the sight with respect to the bow is vertically adjusted by vertically moving the sight along the elevation bar, thereby being capable of obtaining an appropriate shooting angle of an arrow in accordance with a distance to a target.
  • SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • When shooting is performed with the arrow using the bow, an impact caused by restoration of limbs provided on upper and lower sides of the handle is transmitted to the extension bar of the archery sight mounting device, and thus the forward end of the extension bar is vibrated. In particular, when the sight is mounted through intermediation of the elevation bar, the weight of the forward end is large, and hence larger vibration is generated. Accordingly, the archery bow having the archery sight mounted to the handle through intermediation of the archery sight mounting device as described in Japanese Patent Application Laid-open No. 2007-315746 has the following problem. Specifically, the sight may be misaligned due to the vibration, which causes a mismatch between the shooting angle of the arrow and the distance. As a result, it becomes difficult to accurately shoot the target with the arrow.
  • Further, there is another problem. Specifically, the vibration causes friction or collision between the sight and parts of the elevation bar, with the result that noise is generated. Such noise gives stress to an archer required to have a high degree of concentration, and hinders concentration.
  • As a result of repeated tests and studies conducted to solve the problems described above, the inventors of the present invention have made the present invention with focus on the following matter. Specifically, the inventors focused on reducing vibration to be generated at the forward end of the extension bar at the time of shooting by adjusting a vertical position of the archery sight with respect to the bow also on the back end side of the extension bar that involves less vibration at the time of shooting of the arrow and reducing the length of the elevation bar mounted at the forward end of the extension bar to reduce the weight of the forward end of the extension bar.
  • The present invention has an object to provide an archery sight mounting device which allows adjustment of a vertical position of an archery sight with respect to a bow also on a back end side of an extension bar involving less vibration at the time of shooting of an arrow, and is reduced in weight of a forward end of the extension bar so that vibration to be generated at the time of shooting is reduced, thereby being capable of preventing misalignment of the sight caused by the vibration and achieving sighting accuracy and prevention of noise.
  • In order to achieve the object described above, according to the invention as described in claim 1, there is provided an archery sight mounting device, which is configured to mount an archery sight to a bow main body of an archery bow including a handle having a pair of screw holes formed in such a manner as to be aligned in an up-and-down direction of the handle, the archery sight mounting device including: an extension bar to which the archery sight is mounted at a forward end of the extension bar; and a fixed member, which includes a retaining portion configured to retain a back end side of the extension bar, and is configured to be fixed to the handle of the bow main body through screw fixation, wherein the fixed member is allowed to be fixed to the handle with a screw under a state in which the fixed member is inverted up and down, and is configured to retain the back end side of the extension bar even under the inverted state, wherein the fixed member has a pair of screw insertion holes configured to allow insertion of fixing screws that are to be threadedly engaged with the pair of screw holes formed in the handle, and the pair of screw insertion holes is formed in such a manner as to be aligned in the up-and-down direction in a region between one end portion and another end portion of the fixed member in the up-and-down direction, and wherein the pair of screw insertion holes is arranged in the fixed member in a region closer to any one of the one end portion and the another end portion of the fixed member.
  • According to the invention as described in claim 1, the archery sight mounting device includes: the extension bar to which the archery sight is mounted at the forward end of the extension bar; the fixed member, which includes the retaining portion configured to retain the back end side of the extension bar, and is configured to be fixed to the handle of the bow main body through screw fixation. The fixed member is allowed to be fixed to the handle with a screw under a state in which the fixed member is inverted up and down, and is configured to retain the back end side of the extension bar even under the inverted state. The fixed member has the pair of screw insertion holes configured to allow insertion of fixing screws that are to be threadedly engaged with the pair of screw holes formed in the handle, and the pair of screw insertion holes is formed in such a manner as to be aligned in the up-and-down direction in the region between the one end portion and the another end portion of the fixed member in the up-and-down direction. The pair of screw insertion holes is arranged in the fixed member in the region closer to any one of the one end portion and the another end portion of the fixed member. Accordingly, when the fixed member is inverted up and down and mounted in the inverted posture to the handle of the bow main body, a position of fixing the extension bar to the bow main body can be vertically shifted, thereby being capable of adjusting a vertical position of the sight on the back end side of the extension bar.
  • As a result, even when a length of the elevation bar mounted on the forward end side of the extension bar is reduced, a satisfactory range can be secured for adjusting the vertical position of the sight with respect to the bow main body. Thus, the length of the elevation bar can be reduced, and the weight of the forward end of the extension bar can be reduced, thereby being capable of reducing vibration at the forward end of the extension bar at the time of shooting of an arrow.
  • In the invention as described in claim 2, the retaining portion of the fixed member as described in claim 1 includes a plurality of retaining portions formed along the up-and-down direction of the fixed member.
  • According to the invention as described in claim 2, the retaining portion of the fixed member includes a plurality of retaining portions formed along the up-and-down direction of the fixed member. Accordingly, when the back end side of the extension bar is retained with a change in position of the retaining portion, the vertical position of the sight can be adjusted more finely on the back end side of the extension bar. As a result, even when the length of the elevation bar is further reduced, a satisfactory range can be secured for adjusting the position of the sight. Thus, the weight of the forward end of the extension bar can be further reduced, thereby being capable of further reducing vibration to be generated at the forward end of the extension bar at the time of shooting of an arrow.
  • According to the present invention, there can be obtained the archery sight mounting device which allows adjustment of the vertical position of the archery sight with respect to the bow also on the back end side of the extension bar involving less vibration at the time of shooting of the arrow and is reduced in weight of the forward end of the extension bar so that vibration to be generated at the time of shooting is reduced, thereby being capable of preventing misalignment of the sight caused by the vibration and achieving sighting accuracy and prevention of noise.

  • DESCRIPTION OF THE EMBODIMENTS
  • Now, an archery sight mounting device according to an embodiment of the present invention is described in detail with reference to the drawings. In this specification, a direction of shooting of an arrow is defined as a forward direction, and a direction reverse to the forward direction is defined as a backward direction. Further, an abutment surface side on which the archery sight mounting device is held in abutment against a handle is defined as a rear side, and a side opposite to the abutment surface side is defined as a front side.
  • FIG. 1 to FIG. 5 are illustrations of an archery sight mounting device according to a first example of the embodiment of the present invention. FIG. 1 is a side view for illustrating a state in which the archery sight mounting device according to the first example of the present invention is mounted to the handle. FIG. 2 is an exploded perspective view for illustrating the archery sight mounting device according to the first example. FIG. 3 is a perspective view for illustrating a fixing base portion that forms a fixed member of the archery sight mounting device according to the first example. FIG. 4 is an exploded explanatory view for illustrating an example of a state in which the archery sight mounting device according to the first example is mounted to the handle. FIG. 5 is an exploded explanatory view for illustrating another example of the state in which the archery sight mounting device according to the first example is mounted to the handle.
  • The present invention relates to an archery sight mounting device to be used for mounting an archery sight to the handle of a bow portion.
  • First, the bow portion is briefly described. A bow main body 1 includes a handle 2 and limbs (not shown). The limbs are provided on upper and lower sides of the handle 2 and are elastically deformable. A pair of screw holes 3 and 4 for mounting a sight is formed in such a manner as to be aligned in the up-and-down direction of the handle 2. A standard distance between the pair of screw holes 3 and 4 is 33 mm.
  • An archery sight mounting device 5, which is to be mounted to the bow portion having the configuration described above, includes an extension bar 7 and a fixed member 9. A sight 6 is mounted to the extension bar 7 at a forward end of the extension bar 7. The fixed member 9 includes a retaining portion 8 configured to retain a back end side of the extension bar 7, and is configured to be fixed to the handle 2 through screw fixation.
  • The sight 6 is mounted at the forward end of the extension bar 7 through intermediation of an elevation bar 10, and a vertical position of the sight 6 is adjustable along the elevation bar 10.
  • The extension bar 7 is made of, for example, carbon fiber or aluminum.
  • A plurality of fitting recess portions 11 are formed on a front side of a back end portion of the extension bar 7 in a front-and-rear direction of the extension bar 7. A tip of a fixing screw described later is fitted to any one of the fitting recess portions 11. The fixing screw is provided in the retaining portion 8 of the fixed member 9. When the retaining portion 8 retains the extension bar 7, the tip of the fixing screw is fitted to any one of the fitting recess portions 11. Further, a projecting portion 12 is formed on a rear side of the extension bar 7 in such a manner as to extend in the front-and-rear direction. The projecting portion 12 is fitted to a groove portion that is described later and formed in the retaining portion 8 of the fixed member 9.
  • In the first example, the fixed member 9 is formed of two members, that is, a fixing base portion 9 a and a clamping portion 9 b. The fixing base portion 9 a is to be fixed to the handle 2. The clamping portion 9 b is to be superposed on a front side of the fixing base portion 9 a and fixed to the fixing base portion 9 a. The fixing base portion 9 a and the clamping portion 9 b are integrated with each other by inserting screws 14 into screw insertion holes 13 formed in upper and lower end portions of the clamping portion 9 b and allowing the screws 14 to be threadedly engaged with screw holes 15 formed in the fixing base portion 9 a.
  • In the present invention, it is not essentially required that the fixed member 9 be formed of two members, specifically, the fixing base portion 9 a and the clamping portion 9 b, and such configuration does not limit the present invention.
  • It is only required that the retaining portion 8 of the fixed member 9 include a space into which the back end side of the extension bar 7 is to be inserted, and fixing means for fixing the back end side of the extension bar 7 inserted in the space so as to prevent slippage of the extension bar 7. The configuration of the retaining portion 8 is not particularly limited.
  • In the first example, the space into which the back end side of the extension bar 7 is to be inserted is defined between the fixing base portion 9 a and the clamping portion 9 b. As the fixing means, a groove portion 16, to which the projecting portion 12 formed on the rear side of the extension bar 7 is to be fitted, is formed in a front surface of the fixing base portion 9 a. A screw hole 17 is formed in the clamping portion 9 b. A fixing screw 18 is threadedly engaged with the screw hole 17, and a tip of the fixing screw 18 is fitted and pressed onto any one of the fitting recess portions 11 formed on the front side of the back end portion of the extension bar 7 inserted between the fixing base portion 9 a and the clamping portion 9 b. Thus, the back end side of the extension bar 7 is retained on the fixed member 9.
  • Further, under a state in which the fixed member 9 is inverted up and down, the fixed member 9 can be fixed to the handle 2 with a screw, and can retain the back end side of the extension bar 7 even under the inverted state. In the first example, the groove portion 16 forming the retaining portion 8 is formed so as to pass through the fixed member in the front-and-rear direction. Even when the fixed member 9 is inverted up and down, the groove portion 16 retains the back end portion of the extension bar 7, and allows the forward end of the extension bar 7 to protrude forward.
  • Further, a pair of screw insertion holes 20 (20 a and 20 b) is formed in the fixed member 9 in such a manner as to be aligned in the up-and-down direction in a region between one end portion 21 and another end portion 22 of the fixed member 9 in the up-and-down direction. Fixing screws 19 are inserted into the pair of screw insertion holes 20, and are threadedly engaged with the screw holes 3 and 4 formed in the handle 2 of the bow main body 1.
  • In the first example, the pair of screw insertion holes 20 is formed in such a manner as to be aligned in the up-and-down direction in a region between one end portion 21 a and another end portion 22 a of the fixing base portion 9 a of the fixed member 9 in the up-and-down direction.
  • In the fixed member 9, the pair of screw insertion holes 20 is arranged in a region closer to any one of the one end portion 21 and the another end portion 22 of the fixed member 9. In the first example, the pair of screw insertion holes 20 is arranged in a region closer to the one end portion 21 a of the fixing base portion 9 a so as to be arranged in a region closer to the one end portion 21 of the fixed member 9 (see FIG. 3).
  • Further, in the first example, a counterbore is formed in each of the screw insertion holes 20. With this configuration, a screw head of each of the inserted fixing screws 19 is prevented from protruding from the front surface of the fixed member 9, and is prevented from hindering retention of the extension bar 7.
  • Description is made of an example in which the archery sight mounting device according to the first example having the configuration described above is fixed to the handle 2 of the bow main body 1.
  • First, the pair of screw insertion holes 20 a and 20 b formed in the fixing base portion 9 a is matched with the screw holes 3 and 4 formed in the handle 2 of the bow main body 1, and the fixing screws 19 are threadedly engaged with the screw insertion holes 20 a and 20 b and the screw holes 3 and 4. Thus, the fixing base portion 9 a is fixed to the handle 2.
  • Next, the projecting portion 12 formed on the rear side of the extension bar 7 is fitted to the groove portion 16 formed in the fixing base portion 9 a, and the clamping portion 9 b is superposed on the fixing base portion 9 a so as to hold the extension bar 7. Then, the screws 14 are inserted into the screw insertion holes 13 formed in the upper and lower end portions of the clamping portion 9 b, and are threadedly engaged with the screw holes 15 formed in the fixing base portion 9 a. Thus, the fixing base portion 9 a and the clamping portion 9 b are integrated with each other.
  • Next, the extension bar 7 is moved along the groove portion 16 in order to adjust a length of the extension bar 7, and any one of the fitting recess portions 11 formed on the front side of the back end portion of the extension bar 7 is matched with the screw hole 17 formed in the clamping portion 9 b. After that, the fixing screw 18 is threadedly engaged with the screw hole 17, and the tip of the fixing screw 18 is fitted and pressed onto any one of the fitting recess portions 11 of the extension bar 7. Thus, the back end side of the extension bar 7 is retained by the fixed member 9.
  • In the first example, the projecting portion 12 formed on the rear side of the extension bar 7 is fitted to the groove portion 16 formed in the fixing base portion 9 a, and the clamping portion 9 b is superposed on the fixing base portion 9 a so as to hold the extension bar 7. However, the back end side of the extension bar 7 may be inserted into the space defined between the fixing base portion 9 a and the clamping portion 9 b after the clamping portion 9 b is superposed on the fixing base portion 9 a fixed to the handle 2 and then is integrated with the fixing base portion 9 a.
  • According to the archery sight mounting device 5 according to the first example having the configuration described above, the handle 2 of the bow main body 1 has the pair of screw holes 3 and 4 formed in such a manner as to be aligned in the up-and-down direction, and the fixed member 9 has the pair of screw insertion holes 20 formed in such a manner as to be aligned in the up-and-down direction in the region between the one end portion 21 and the another end portion 22 of the fixed member 9 in the up-and-down direction. The fixing screws 19, which are to be threadedly engaged with the screw holes 3 and 4 formed in the handle 2, are inserted into the pair of screw insertion holes 20. In the fixed member 9, the pair of screw insertion holes 20 is arranged in the region closer to any one of the one end portion 21 and the another end portion 22 of the fixed member 9. Accordingly, when the fixed member 9 is inverted up and down and mounted in the inverted posture to the handle 2 of the bow main body 1, a position of fixing the extension bar 7 to the bow main body 1 can be vertically shifted, thereby being capable of adjusting the vertical position of the sight 6 on the back end side of the extension bar 7.
  • That is, the position of fixing the extension bar 7 to the bow main body 1 is shifted vertically between a case in which the one end portion 21 of the fixed member 9 is located on an upper side of the fixed member 9 (see FIG. 4) and a case in which the another end portion 22 is located on the upper side thereof (see FIG. 5). Accordingly, when the fixed member 9 is inverted up and down and mounted in the inverted posture to the handle 2 of the bow main body 1, the vertical position of the sight 6 can be adjusted.
  • As described above, the vertical position of the sight 6 can be adjusted also on the back end side of the extension bar 7. As a result, even when a length of the elevation bar 10 is reduced, a satisfactory range can be secured for adjusting the vertical position of the sight 6. Thus, the length of the elevation bar 10 can be reduced, and the weight of the forward end of the extension bar 7 can be reduced, thereby being capable of reducing vibration at the forward end of the extension bar 7 at the time of shooting.
  • FIG. 6 to FIG. 10 are illustrations of an archery sight mounting device according to a second example of the embodiment of the present invention. FIG. 6 is an exploded perspective view for illustrating the archery sight mounting device according to the second example. FIG. 7 is a perspective view for illustrating a fixing base portion that forms a fixed member of the archery sight mounting device according to the second example. FIG. 8 is a perspective view for illustrating an example of a state in which the back end side of the extension bar is retained with a change in position of the retaining portion of the fixed member. FIG. 9 is a perspective view for illustrating another example of the state in which the back end side of the extension bar is retained with a change in position of the retaining portion of the fixed member. FIG. 10 is a perspective view for illustrating still another example of the state in which the back end side of the extension bar is retained with a change in position of the retaining portion of the fixed member.
  • The archery sight mounting device according to the second example has the same basic configuration as that of the archery sight mounting device according to the first example. The same components as those in the first example are described with the same reference symbols.
  • The second example and the first example are different from each other only in the configuration of the retaining portion 8 of the fixed member 9. In the second example, a plurality of retaining portions 8 are formed along the up-and-down direction of the fixed member 9.
  • Specifically, as the groove portion 16, which is formed in the front surface of the fixing base portion 9 a and allows the projecting portion 12 formed on the rear side of the extension bar 7 to be fitted thereto, three groove portions 16 (16 a, 16 b, and 16 c) are formed along the up-and-down direction of the fixing base portion 9 a (see FIG. 7).
  • The number of the groove portions 16 is not limited to the number given in the second example. It is only required that two or more groove portions 16 be formed.
  • The plurality of groove portions 16 are formed such that a position of at least one of the groove portions 16 in the up-and-down direction with respect to the bow main body 1 is shifted between a case in which the fixed member 9 is fixed to the handle 2 with a screw under a state in which the one end portion 21 is located on the upper side of the fixed member 9, and a case in which the fixed member 9 is fixed to the handle 2 with a screw under a state in which the another end portion 22 is located on the upper side thereof.
  • Further, at positions of the clamping portion 9 b opposed to the three groove portions 16, there are formed three screw holes 17, which allow the fixing screw 18 to be threadedly engaged with the screw holes 17. Thus, the plurality of retaining portions 8 configured to retain the back end side of the extension bar 7 are formed along the up-and-down direction of the fixed member 9.
  • The other configurations are the same as those in the first example, and hence the description of the first example is applied to the description of the second example for support.
  • According to the archery sight mounting device 5 according to the second example having the configuration described above, the plurality of retaining portions 8 of the fixed member 9 are formed along the up-and-down direction of the fixed member 9. In other words, the three groove portions 16 (16 a, 16 b, and 16 c) are formed in the front surface of the fixing base portion 9 a, and the screw holes 17 are formed at the positions of the clamping portion 9 b corresponding to the three groove portions 16, respectively. Accordingly, when the back end side of the extension bar 7 is retained by the retaining portion 8 of the fixed member 9, a position of the groove portion 16, to which the projecting portion 12 formed on the rear side of the extension bar 7 is to be fitted, is changed among the groove portions 16 a, 16 b, and 16 c, and the fixing screw 18 is threadedly engaged with corresponding one of the screw holes 17. In this manner, the extension bar 7 can be retained under a state in which a position of retaining the extension bar 7 on the fixed member 9 is shifted vertically (see FIG. 8, FIG. 9, and FIG. 10).
  • With this configuration, in addition to adjustment of the vertical position of the sight 6 with respect to the bow main body 1 through inverting of the fixed member 9, the vertical position of the sight 6 with respect to the bow main body 1 can be adjusted with a change in the position of retaining the extension bar 7 on the fixed member 9. Accordingly, the vertical position of the extension bar 7 can be adjusted more finely. As a result, even when the length of the elevation bar 10 mounted on the forward end side of the extension bar 7 is further reduced, the vertical position of the sight with respect to the bow main body 1 can be adjusted satisfactorily. Thus, the length of the elevation bar 10 can be further reduced, and the weight of the forward end of the extension bar 7 can be further reduced, thereby being capable of further reducing vibration at the forward end of the extension bar 7 at the time of shooting.
  • The other actions and effects are the same as those in the first example, and hence description of the first example is applied to description of the second example for support.

Claims (2)

What is claimed is:
1. An archery sight mounting device, which is configured to mount an archery sight to a bow main body of an archery bow including a handle having a pair of screw holes formed in such a manner as to be aligned in an up-and-down direction of the handle, the archery sight mounting device comprising:
an extension bar to which the archery sight is mounted at a forward end of the extension bar; and
a fixed member, which includes a retaining portion configured to retain a back end side of the extension bar, and is configured to be fixed to the handle of the bow main body through screw fixation,
wherein the fixed member is allowed to be fixed to the handle with a screw under a state in which the fixed member is inverted up and down, and is configured to retain the back end side of the extension bar even under the inverted state,
wherein the fixed member has a pair of screw insertion holes configured to allow insertion of fixing screws that are to be threadedly engaged with the pair of screw holes formed in the handle, and the pair of screw insertion holes is formed in such a manner as to be aligned in the up-and-down direction in a region between one end portion and another end portion of the fixed member in the up-and-down direction, and
wherein the pair of screw insertion holes is arranged in the fixed member in a region closer to any one of the one end portion and the another end portion of the fixed member.
2. The archery sight mounting device according to claim 1, wherein the retaining portion of the fixed member comprises a plurality of retaining portions formed along the up-and-down direction of the fixed member.
