- The disclosure relates to furniture accessory devices and more particularly pertains to a new furniture accessory device for preventing items from getting beneath furniture.
- The prior art relates to furniture accessory devices.
- An embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising a barrier body having a first end, a second end, and a sidewall extending therebetween forming a body cavity. The barrier body is flexible such that it can be shaped to match a profile of a furniture item and a height of the sidewall is configured to fit securely between an underside of the furniture item and the floor. A filling is coupled to the barrier body within the body cavity. A pair of end loops coupled to the barrier body, the pair of end loops being coupled to the first end and the second end and is configured to selectively engage a pair of back feet of the furniture item.
- There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the disclosure in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.
- The objects of the disclosure, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the disclosure, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure.
- The disclosure will be better understood and objects other than those set forth above will become apparent when consideration is given to the following detailed description thereof. Such description makes reference to the annexed drawings wherein:
-
FIG. 1 is an isometric view of a furniture barrier apparatus according to an embodiment of the disclosure. -
FIG. 2 is a bottom plan view of an embodiment of the disclosure. -
FIG. 3 is an in-use view of an embodiment of the disclosure. -
FIG. 4 is a cross-sectional view of an embodiment of the disclosure. -
FIG. 5 is a top plan view of an embodiment of the disclosure. - With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to
FIGS. 1 through 5 thereof, a new furniture accessory device embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by thereference numeral 10 will be described. - As best illustrated in
FIGS. 1 through 5 , thefurniture barrier apparatus 10 generally comprises abarrier body 12 having afirst end 14, asecond end 16, and asidewall 18 extending therebetween to form abody cavity 20. Thesidewall 18 has aflat bottom side 22 and a roundedtop side 24. Thebarrier body 12 is flexible such that it can be shaped to match a profile of afurniture item 26 such as a sofa. Aheight 28 of the sidewall is configured to fit securely between anunderside 30 of the furniture item and the floor. Thebarrier body 12 may be a cloth material or other material to match thefurniture item 26 with which it is being used. Afilling 32 is coupled to thebarrier body 12 within thebody cavity 20. Thefilling 32 may be one of, but not limited to, a plurality of beads, a plurality of balls, batting, or the like. Thefilling 32 is malleable to provide a secure fit of thebarrier body 12 beneath thefurniture item 26 and does not limit the flexibility of thebarrier body 12. - A pair of
end loops 34 is coupled to thebarrier body 12. The pair of end loops is coupled to thefirst end 14 and thesecond end 16 and is configured to selectively engage a pair ofback feet 36 of the furniture item. Each end loop may have aneck portion 38 and anopen head portion 40. A plurality ofmedial loops 42 may be coupled to thebarrier body 12 around thesidewall 18. Eachmedial loop 42 is configured to selectively engage afront foot 44 of the furniture item. Theend loops 34 and themedial loops 42 may be elasticized. A plurality ofengagement members 46 may be coupled to thebarrier body 12 to further secure theapparatus 10. Eachengagement member 46 comprises afemale engagement component 48 coupled to thetop side 24 of the barrier body and amale engagement component 50 configured to be secured to theunderside 30 of the furniture item. Eachengagement member 46 may be one of, but not limited to, a hook-and-loop fastener, snaps, adhesives, or the like. - In use, the pair of
end loops 34 is engaged with the pair ofback feet 36 of thefurniture item 26. Thebarrier body 12 is placed between theunderside 30 of the furniture item and is wrapped around each exposed side of thefurniture item 26 to prevent items from going beneath theunderside 30. - With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.
- Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
