Abstract
A modular target assembly includes a stand comprising a plurality of modular sections. Each of the modular sections can be removably coupled together. A first target support and a second target support are provided and each of the first target support and the second target support are removably coupled to the stand. A set of first target clamps is each coupled to and extends away from the first target support. Each of the first target clamps releasably engages a target. A set of second target clamps is each of the second target clamps is coupled to and extends away from the second target support. Each of the second target clamps releasably engages the target to retain the target between the first target support and the second target support for target practice.

- The disclosure relates to target devices and more particularly pertains to a new target device for facilitating target practice.
- The prior art relates to target devices.
- An embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising a stand comprising a plurality of modular sections. Each of the modular sections can be removably coupled together. A first target support and a second target support are provided and each of the first target support and the second target support are removably coupled to the stand. A set of first target clamps is each coupled to and extends away from the first target support. Each of the first target clamps releasably engages a target. A set of second target clamps is each of the second target clamps is coupled to and extends away from the second target support. Each of the second target clamps releasably engages the target to retain the target between the first target support and the second target support for target practice.
- There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the disclosure in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.
- The objects of the disclosure, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the disclosure, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure.
- The disclosure will be better understood and objects other than those set forth above will become apparent when consideration is given to the following detailed description thereof. Such description makes reference to the annexed drawings wherein:

FIGS. 1 through 7 thereof, a new target device embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by thereference numeral 10 will be described. - As best illustrated in
FIGS. 1 through 7 , themodular target assembly 10 generally comprises astand 12 comprising a plurality ofmodular sections 14 that is each removably coupled together. Thestand 12 can be vertically oriented on asupport surface 16, such as the ground or otherhorizontal support surface 16 when themodular sections 14 are assembled. Additionally, themodular sections 14 can be dissembled for transporting themodular sections 14 on a motorcycle, bicycle or other vehicle with limited storage capacity. - The plurality of
modular sections 14 includes abase section 18, anupright section 20, afirst target support 22 and asecond target support 24. Thebase section 18 comprises a first base fitting 26 that has afirst receiver 28 and asecond receiver 30. Thefirst receiver 28 has a longitudinal axis which is oriented perpendicular to a longitudinal axis of thesecond receiver 30. Thefirst receiver 28 has a pair ofopenings 32 therein and thesecond receiver 30 has an opening 34 therein. - The
base section 18 includes afirst leg 36 that is insertable into a respective one of theopenings 32 in thefirst receiver 28. Asecond leg 38 is insertable into a respective one of theopenings 32 in thefirst receiver 28. Thefirst leg 36 extends away from thesecond leg 38 when thefirst leg 36 and thesecond leg 38 are inserted into thefirst receiver 28. Thebase section 18 includes a secondary base fitting 40 that has aprimary receiver 42 and asecondary receiver 44. Theprimary receiver 42 has a longitudinal axis that is oriented perpendicular to a longitudinal axis of thesecondary receiver 44 and theprimary receiver 42 has a pair ofopenings 46 therein. Thesecondary receiver 44 has an opening 48 therein. - The
base section 18 includes a pair ofthird legs 50. Each of thethird legs 50 is insertable into a respective one of theopenings 46 in theprimary receiver 42. In this way thefirst leg 36, thesecond leg 38 and thethird legs 50 forms a T-shape. Moreover, thesecond receiver 30 on thefirst base fitting 26 is directed upwardly when thebase section 18 is positioned on thesupport surface 16. - The
upright section 20 of thestand 12 comprises afirst member 52 that is insertable into thesecond receiver 30 on the first base fitting 26 such that thefirst member 52 is vertically oriented. Theupright section 20 includes a firstupright fitting 54 that has afirst receiver 56 and asecond receiver 58. Thefirst receiver 56 of the firstupright fitting 54 has a longitudinal axis that is oriented perpendicular to a longitudinal axis of thesecond receiver 58 of the firstupright fitting 54. Thefirst receiver 56 of the first upright fitting 54 has a pair ofopenings 60 therein and thesecond receiver 58 of the firstupright fitting 54 has an opening 62 therein. - A respective one of the
openings 60 in thefirst receiver 56 of the first upright fitting 54 insertably receives thefirst member 52. The firstupright fitting 54 is spaced upwardly from thebase section 18 and thesecond receiver 58 on the firstupright fitting 54 is horizontally oriented when the firstupright fitting 54 is positioned on thefirst member 52. Asecond member 62 is insertable into a respective one of theopenings 60 in thefirst receiver 56 on the first upright fitting 54 having thesecond member 62 being vertically oriented. - A
set screw 64 extends into thefirst receiver 56 of the firstupright fitting 54. Theset screw 64 is tightened to engage thesecond member 62 when thesecond member 62 is inserted into thefirst receiver 28 of the first upright fitting 54. A secondupright fitting 66 is provided that has afirst end 68 andsecond end 70. Each of thefirst end 68 and thesecond end 70 is open, and thefirst end 68 insertably receives thesecond member 62. - The
upright section 20 includes athird member 72 that is insertable into thesecond end 70 of the second upright fitting 66 having thethird member 72 being vertically oriented. A pair ofset screws 74 each extends into the second upright fitting 66. Each of theset screws 74 on the second upright fitting 66 is tightened to engage a respective one of thesecond member 62 and thethird member 72. A third upright fitting 76 is provided that has aprimary end 78 and asecondary end 80. The third upright fitting 76 has abend 82 thereon such that the third upright fitting 76 forms an elbow. Theprimary end 78 insertably receives thethird member 72 having the third upright fitting 76 being spaced upwardly from the second upright fitting 66. - A
set screw 84 extends into the third upright fitting 76 and theset screw 84 on the third upright fitting 76 is tightened to engage thethird member 72. Thefirst target support 22 is insertable into theopening 62 in thesecond receiver 58 of the first upright fitting 54 having thefirst target support 22 being horizontally oriented. Thesecond target support 24 is insertable into thesecondary end 80 of the third upright fitting 76 having thesecond target support 24 being horizontally oriented. Thesecond target support 24 is spaced upwardly from thefirst target support 22 and thesecond target support 24 is oriented collinear with thefirst target support 22. - A set of first target clamps 86 is included and each of the first target clamps 86 is coupled to and extends away from the
first target support 22. The first target clamps 86 are spaced apart from each other and are distributed along thefirst target support 22. Each of the first target clamps 86 includes acord 88 and a pair ofjaws 90. Thecord 88 is comprised of a resiliently stretchable material and each ofjaws 90 on each of the first target clamps 86 releasably engages atarget 92 adjacent to abottom edge 94 of thetarget 92. - A set of second target clamps 96 is included and each of the second target clamps 96 is coupled to and extends away from the
second target support 24. The second target clamps 96 are spaced apart from each other and are distributed along thesecond target support 24. Each of the second target clamps 96 includes acord 98 and a pair ofjaws 100. Thecord 98 is comprised of a resiliently stretchable material. Each ofjaws 100 on each of the second target clamps 96 releasably engages thetarget 92 adjacent to atop edge 102 of thetarget 92. In this way thetarget 92 is retained between thefirst target support 22 and thesecond target support 24 for target practice. - In use, the
modular sections 14 of thestand 12 are assembled in order to facilitate thetarget 92 to be retained above asupport surface 16 for target practice. Thetarget 92 is positioned in each of the set of first target clamps 86 and the second target clamps 96. In this way thetarget 92 is positioned on a vertical plane for target practice. Themodular sections 14 can be disassembled for transporting on a bicycle, motorcycle or other vehicle that has limited storage capacity. - With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.
- Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
Claims (16)
1. A modular target assembly being configured to support a shooting target at a selected height for target practice, said assembly comprising:
a stand comprising a plurality of modular sections each being removably coupled together wherein said stand is configured to be vertically oriented on a support surface when said modular sections are assembled, said modular sections being dissembled for transporting said modular sections wherein said stand is configured to be transportable on a motorcycle, said plurality of modular sections including a base section, an upright section, a first target support and a second target support, said first target support being removably coupled to said upright section, said second target support being removably coupled to said upright section;
a set of first target clamps, each of said first target clamps being coupled to and extending away from said first target support, each of said first target clamps releasably engaging a target, each of said first target clamps including a cord and a pair of jaws, said cord extending from said first target support, said cord extending in a single line between said first target support and said pair of jaws, said cord being comprised of a resiliently stretchable material, each of the jaws on each of said first target clamps releasably engaging a target adjacent to a bottom edge of the target in spaced relationship along the bottom edge of the target such that said first target clamps are configured to frame target indicia on the target over and between the first target clamps; and
a set of second target clamps, each of said second target clamps being coupled to and extending away from said second target support, each of said second target clamps releasably engaging the target such that the target is retained between said first target support and said second target support for target practice, each of said second target clamps including a second clamp cord and a pair of second clamp jaws, said second clamp cord being comprised of a resiliently stretchable material, said second clamp cord extending from said second target support, said second clamp cord extending in a single line between said second target support and said pair of second clamp jaws, each of the jaws on each of the second clamps releasably engaging the target adjacent to a top edge of the target in spaced relationship along the top edge of the target such that said second target clamps are configured to frame the target indicia on the target under and between the second target clamps.
2. The assembly according to claim 1 , wherein said base section comprises a first base fitting having a first receiver and a second receiver, said first receiver having a longitudinal axis being oriented perpendicular to a longitudinal axis of said second receiver; said first receiver having a pair of openings therein, said second receiver having an opening therein.
3. The assembly according to claim 2 , wherein said base section comprises
a first leg being insertable into a respective one of said openings in said first receiver; and
a second leg being insertable into a respective one of said openings in said first receiver, said first leg extending away from said second leg when said first leg and said second leg are inserted into said first receiver.
4. The assembly according to claim 3 , wherein said base section comprises a secondary base fitting having a primary receiver and a secondary receiver, said primary receiver having a longitudinal axis being oriented perpendicular to a longitudinal axis of said secondary receiver; said primary receiver having a pair of openings therein, said secondary receiver having an opening therein, said opening in said secondary receiver insertably receiving said second leg.

The assembly according to claim 4 , wherein said base section comprises a pair of third legs, each of said third legs being insertable into a respective one of said openings in said primary receiver such that said first leg, said second leg and said third legs forms a T-shape having said second receiver on said first base fitting being directed upwardly when said base section is positioned on a support surface.
6. The assembly according to claim 2 , wherein said upright section of said stand comprises a first member being insertable into said second receiver on said first base fitting such that said first member is vertically oriented.
7. The assembly according to claim 6 , wherein said upright section of said stand comprises a first upright fitting having a first receiver and a second receiver, said first receiver of said first upright fitting having a longitudinal axis being oriented perpendicular to a longitudinal axis of said second receiver of said first upright fitting, said first receiver of said first upright fitting having a pair of openings therein, said second receiver of said first upright fitting having an opening therein.

The assembly according to claim 7 , wherein a respective one of said openings in said first receiver of said first upright fitting insertably receives said first member, said first upright fitting being spaced upwardly from said base section having said second receiver on said first upright fitting being horizontally oriented when said first upright fitting is positioned on said first member.
9. The assembly according to claim 8 , wherein said upright section comprises a second member being insertable into a respective one of said openings in said first receiver on said first upright fitting having said second member being vertically oriented.
10. The assembly according to claim 9 , wherein said upright section comprises a set screw extending into said first receiver of said first upright fitting, said set screw being tightened to engage said second member when said second member is inserted into said first receiver of said first upright fitting.
11. The assembly according to claim 10 , wherein said upright section comprises a second upright fitting having a first end and second end, each of said first end and said second end being open, said first end insertably receiving said second member.
12. The assembly according to claim 11 , wherein said upright section comprises a third member being insertable into said second end of said second upright fitting having said third member being vertically oriented.
13. The assembly according to claim 12 , further comprising a pair of set screws each extending into said second upright fitting, each of said set screws on said second upright fitting being tightened to engage a respective one of said second member and said third member.
14. The assembly according to claim 13 , wherein said upright section comprises a third upright fitting having a primary end and a secondary end, said third upright having a bend thereon such that said third upright fitting forms an elbow, said primary end insertably receiving said third member having said third upright fitting being spaced upwardly from said second upright fitting.
15. The assembly according to claim 14 , wherein said upright section comprises a set screw extending into said third upright fitting, said set screw on said third upright fitting being tightened to engage said third member.
16. A modular target assembly being configured to support a shooting target at a selected height for target practice, said assembly comprising:
a stand comprising a plurality of modular sections each being removably coupled together wherein said stand is configured to be vertically oriented on a support surface when said modular sections are assembled, said modular sections being dissembled for transporting said modular sections wherein said stand is configured to be transportable on a motorcycle, said plurality of modular sections including a base section, an upright section, a first target support and a second target support, said base section comprising:
a first base fitting having a first receiver and a second receiver, said first receiver having a longitudinal axis being oriented perpendicular to a longitudinal axis of said second receiver; said first receiver having a pair of openings therein, said second receiver having an opening therein,
a first leg being insertable into a respective one of said openings in said first receiver;
a second leg being insertable into a respective one of said openings in said first receiver, said first leg extending away from said second leg when said first leg and said second leg are inserted into said first receiver;
a secondary base fitting having a primary receiver and a secondary receiver, said primary receiver having a longitudinal axis being oriented perpendicular to a longitudinal axis of said secondary receiver; said primary receiver having a pair of openings therein, said secondary receiver having an opening therein, said opening in said secondary receiver insertably receiving said second leg; and
a pair of third legs, each of said third legs being insertable into a respective one of said openings in said primary receiver such that said first leg, said second leg and said third legs forms a T-shape having said second receiver on said first base fitting being directed upwardly when said base section is positioned on a support surface;
said upright section of said stand comprising:
a first member being insertable into said second receiver on said first base fitting such that said first member is vertically oriented;
a first upright fitting having a first receiver and a second receiver, said first receiver of said first upright fitting having a longitudinal axis being oriented perpendicular to a longitudinal axis of said second receiver of said first upright fitting, said first receiver of said first upright fitting having a pair of openings therein, said second receiver of said first upright fitting having an opening therein, a respective one of said openings in said first receiver of said first upright fitting insertably receiving said first member, said first upright fitting being spaced upwardly from said base section having said second receiver on said first upright fitting being horizontally oriented when said first upright fitting is positioned on said first member;
a second member being insertable into a respective one of said openings in said first receiver on said first upright fitting having said second member being vertically oriented;
a set screw extending into said first receiver of said first upright fitting, said set screw being tightened to engage said second member when said second member is inserted into said first receiver of said first upright member;
a second upright fitting having a first end and second end, each of said first end and said second end being open, said first end insertably receiving said second member;
a third member being insertable into said second end of said second upright fitting having said third member being vertically oriented;
a pair of set screws each extending into said second upright fitting, each of said set screws on said second upright fitting being tightened to engage a respective one of said second member and said third member;
a third upright fitting having a primary end and a secondary end, said third upright having a bend thereon such that said third upright fitting forms an elbow, said primary end insertably receiving said third member having said third upright fitting being spaced upwardly from said second upright fitting; and
a set screw extending into said third upright fitting, said set screw on said third upright fitting being tightened to engage said third member;
said first target support being insertable into said opening in said second receiver of said first upright fitting having said first target support being horizontally oriented;
said second target support being insertable into said secondary end of said third upright fitting having said second target support being horizontally oriented, said second target support being spaced upwardly from said first target support, said second target support being oriented parallel to said first target support;
a set of first target clamps, each of said first target clamps being coupled to and extending away from said first target support, said first target clamps being spaced apart from each other and being distributed along said first target support, each of said first target clamps including a cord and a pair of jaws, said cord being comprised of a resiliently stretchable material, said cord extending from said first target support, said cord extending in a single line between said first target support and said pair of jaws, each of the jaws on each of said first target clamps releasably engaging a target adjacent to a bottom edge of the target in spaced relationship along the bottom edge of the target such that said first target clamps are configured to frame target indicia on the target over and between the first target clamps; and
a set of second target clamps, each of said second target clamps being coupled to and extending away from said second target support, said second target clamps being spaced apart from each other and being distributed along said second target support, each of said second target clamps including a second clamp cord and a pair of second clamp jaws, said second clamp cord being comprised of a resiliently stretchable material, said second clamp cord extending from said second target support, said second clamp cord extending in a single line between said second target support and said pair of second clamp jaws, each of said second clamp jaws on each of said second target clamps releasably engaging the target adjacent to a top edge of the target in spaced relationship along the top edge of the target such that said second target clamps are configured to frame the target indicia on the target under and between the second target clamps such that the target is retained between said first target support and said second target support for target practice.
