- The disclosure and prior art relates to socks and more particularly pertains to a new sock for keeping feet warm and dry in any boot.
- An embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising a sock body having a foot portion and a cuff portion. The foot portion is configured to receive a user's foot wearing a standard sock and the cuff portion is configured to extend above the standard sock and below a user's knee. The sock body comprises an inner layer, a medial layer, and an outer layer. The inner layer is breathable and soft. The medial layer is coupled to the inner layer and is continuously disposed around the inner layer. The medial layer is insulating. The outer layer is coupled to the medial layer and is continuously disposed around the medial layer. The outer layer is waterproof. A sole is coupled to the sock body. The sole is coupled to a bottom side of the foot portion. An elastic band is coupled to the sock body within an upper perimeter of the cuff portion. The elastic band and the surrounding sock body define an elasticized collar configured to secure a user's leg.
- There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the disclosure in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.
- The objects of the disclosure, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the disclosure, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure.
- The disclosure will be better understood and objects other than those set forth above will become apparent when consideration is given to the following detailed description thereof. Such description makes reference to the annexed drawings wherein:
-
FIG. 1 is an isometric view of a waterproof sock cover apparatus according to an embodiment of the disclosure. -
FIG. 2 is a front elevation view of an embodiment of the disclosure. -
FIG. 3 is a rear elevation view of an embodiment of the disclosure. -
FIG. 4 is a bottom plan view of an embodiment of the disclosure. -
FIG. 5 is a cross-sectional view of an embodiment of the disclosure along line 5-5 ofFIG. 4 . - With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to
FIGS. 1 through 5 thereof, a new sock embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by thereference numeral 10 will be described. - As best illustrated in
FIGS. 1 through 5 , the waterproofsock cover apparatus 10 generally comprises asock body 12 having afoot portion 14 and acuff portion 16. Thefoot portion 12 is configured to receive a user'sfoot 18 wearing astandard sock 20 and thecuff portion 16 is configured to extend above thestandard sock 20 and below a user's knee 22. Thesock body 12 comprises a breathable and softinner layer 24, an insulatingmedial layer 26, and a waterproofouter layer 28. Theinner layer 24 may be a bamboo cotton blend. Themedial layer 26 is coupled to theinner layer 24 and is continuously disposed around theinner layer 24. The medial layer may be wool. Theouter layer 28 is coupled to themedial layer 26 and is continuously disposed around themedial layer 26. The outer layer may be a woven canvas blend. - A sole 30 is coupled to the
sock body 12. The sole 30 is coupled to abottom side 32 of thefoot portion 14. The sole 30 may be rubberized and may have a plurality ofcircular grip protrusions 34 to prevent slippage when theapparatus 10 is worn without boots. - An
elastic band 36 is coupled to thesock body 12. Theelastic band 36 is coupled within anupper perimeter 38 of thecuff portion 16. Theelastic band 36 and the surroundingsock body 12 define an elasticizedcollar 40 configured to secure a user'sleg 42 below the user's knee 22. The elasticizedcollar 40 may have abottom stitch line 44 extending through all three layers of thesock body 12. The elasticizedcollar 40 has a resting diameter smaller than a diameter of thecuff portion 16 but is expandable. The elasticizedcollar 40 may be rounded. Agrip band 46 is coupled to thesock body 12. Thegrip band 46 is coupled to theinner layer 24 within thecuff portion 16 adjacent the elasticizedcollar 40. Thegrip band 46 is configured to prevent thecuff portion 16 from sliding down the user'sleg 42. Thegrip band 46 may be a woven silicone blend. - In use, the
sock body 12 is pulled over thestandard sock 20 until the elasticized collar extends above the user's boot and below the user's knee 22. Theapparatus 10 may be used with boots that are not insulated or waterproof and still maintain the user'sfoot 18 warm and dry. - With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.
- Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
