- This application claims the benefit of U.S. Provisional Application No. 62/716,308, filed on Aug. 8, 2018 the subject matter of which is incorporated herein by reference.
- The disclosure is generally directed to mechanisms useful for facilitating the holding and displaying of articles of clothing. More particularly, the disclosure relates to a wall-mounted hat holder and display device.
- A hat is a covering for the head worn for warmth, as a fashion item, or as part of a uniform. In recent years, caps having a team or organizational insignia have become popular. Many people wear a cap with the logo of their favorite baseball or basketball team, for example. Additionally, some people collect hats. Indeed, some people own several dozen hats.
- However, a common problem with hats is that they can easily be misplaced and are hard to organize. To remedy this problem, various hat holders and stands exist in the prior art. There are hat stands that can accommodate ten or more hats. And then there are other hat holders that hold only a few hats, or even just one. A common problem is that such hat storage devices will sometimes causes a mark or creases on the hat. Also, the typical hat storage device takes up too much space or don't look aesthetically pleasing.
- A hat holder comprises a curved section adapted to hold a hat suspended thereon; a guard disposed along a front of the curved section adapted to secure the hat from falling off; a back plate disposed along a rear of the curved section; and wall mounting means (such as a doubled-sided adhesive tape) to secure the device to a wall or another surface. Another aspect of the disclosure relates to a hat holder comprising a curved section adapted to hold a hat suspended thereon; a guard disposed along a front of the curved section adapted to secure the hat from falling off; a support disposed below the curved section; and mounting means.
-
FIG. 1 illustrates an example of a hat being suspended from a hat holder mounted to a wall, according to an embodiment. -
FIG. 2 illustrates a perspective view of a hat holder, according to an embodiment. -
FIG. 3 illustrates a front view of the hat holder. -
FIG. 4 illustrates a back view of the hat holder. -
FIGS. 5-6 illustrate side views of the hat holder. -
FIG. 7 illustrates a top view of the hat holder. -
FIG. 8 illustrates a top view of the hat holder. - Referring to
FIG. 1 , an example of ahat 80 being suspended from ahat holder 100 mounted to awall 20, according to an embodiment, is illustrated. As will be described in greater detail, thehat holder 100 includes mounting means such as an adhesive that allows it to be secured to thewall 20. Although thehat 80 shown herein is a cap, it is to be understood that thehat holder 100 can accommodate holding various different types of hats. Furthermore, although thehat holder 100 is shown attached to awall 20, it is to be understood that thehat holder 100 may be attached to other surfaces, such as a door, a piece of furniture, a refrigerator, etc. Thehat holder 100 can be made as a single piece of molded plastic, for example. Alternatively, thehat holder 100 can be made in more than one part and then assembled. Finally, it is to be appreciated that although thehat holder 100 is designed for holding hats, it can also be used satisfactorily for other items, e.g., headphones. - Referring to
FIG. 2 , a perspective view of thehat holder 100 is shown, according to an embodiment. Thehat holder 100 includes aback plate 105, acurved section 102, and aguard 107. Thehat holder 100 can be mounted to thewall 20 or the like using suitable mounting means. In the illustrated example, the mounting means is an adhesive, more particularly, a double-sided adhesive 115 (FIG. 4 ) affixed to the rear of the back plate 105 (facing the wall). However, the mounting means can instead, or in addition, include another attachment device, e.g., screws, nails, hook. In the shown embodiment, theback plate 105 is divided into five sides, 105A-E. In this manner, when a hat is placed ontohat holder 100, the inner band rests comfortably on thecurved portion 102, and the hat does not receive any creases and indentations. Furthermore, when the hat is mounted on the hat holder 100 (FIG. 1 ), the insignia of the hat can be easily seen. Moreover, theguard 107 functions to keep the hat on thecurved section 107 so that it can be securely held in place.
