Abstract
A smoking device including a body having a bowl leading to a draw tube formed through a longitudinal axis of the body. The draw tube ends at a mouthpiece formed by an opening. A magnet is coupled to the body. A lighter is attached to the smoking device by placing a ferromagnetic portion of the lighter against the magnet.
Description
- The present invention relates to smoking devices and lighters and, more particularly, to a lighter attachment for smoking devices.
- Smoking devices come in many varieties. A smoking pipe is a device made to allow the user to inhale or taste smoke or vapor derived from the burning or vaporization of some substance. A bong is a filtration device generally used for smoking cannabis, tobacco, or other herbal substances. A pipe bowl, when referred to in pipe smoking, is the part of a smoking pipe or bong which is used to hold tobacco, cannabis, or other substances. To use a pipe, a bong or other smoking device, a flame creator, such as a lighter, is necessary. Lighters are easily lost or misplaced.
- As can be seen, there is a need for a mechanism to attach a lighter to a smoking device.
- In one aspect of the present invention, a smoking device comprises: a body comprising a bowl leading to a draw tube formed through a longitudinal axis of the body, wherein the draw tube ends at a mouthpiece; and a magnet coupled to the body.
- In another aspect of the present invention, a method of attaching a lighter to a smoking device comprises: providing the smoking device comprising: a body comprising a bowl leading to a draw tube formed through a longitudinal axis of the body, wherein the draw tube ends at a mouthpiece; and a magnet coupled to the body; providing the lighter comprising a ferromagnetic metal portion; and placing the ferromagnetic metal portion of the lighter against the magnet of the smoking device.
- These and other features, aspects and advantages of the present invention will become better understood with reference to the following drawings, description and claims.
-
FIG. 1 is a perspective view of an embodiment of the present invention in use; -
FIG. 2 is an exploded perspective view of an embodiment of the present invention; -
FIG. 3 is a detailed exploded view of an embodiment of the present invention; and -
FIG. 4 cross section view taken along line 4-4 inFIG. 1 . - The following detailed description is of the best currently contemplated modes of carrying out exemplary embodiments of the invention. The description is not to be taken in a limiting sense, but is made merely for the purpose of illustrating the general principles of the invention, since the scope of the invention is best defined by the appended claims.
- The present invention includes a glass tobacco or cannabis pipe with a magnet to hold a lighter. The present invention provides convenient access to a lighter. The magnet attaches a lighter, therefore, reducing the loss of lighters. The lighter attached to the pipe also creates a stabilizer, preventing the pipe from rolling over. The present invention further makes sharing the pipe with others easier since users are not concerned about the location of the lighter.
- Referring to
FIGS. 1 through 4 , the present invention includes asmoking device 10. Thesmoking device 10 includes abody 14. Thebody 14 has abowl 24 leading to adraw tube 26 formed through alongitudinal axis 28 of thebody 14. Thedraw tube 26 ends at amouthpiece 28 formed by an opening. Amagnet 18 is coupled to thebody 14. A user may attach a lighter 12 to thesmoking device 10 by placing a ferromagnetic portion of the lighter 12 against themagnet 18. - The
smoking device 10 of the present invention may include a smoking bowl, a bubbler, a bong, and the like. In certain embodiments, thebody 14 of thesmoking device 10 is made of blown glass. Thebody 14 includes an upper surface, a first side surface, a second side surface, a lower surface, a first end, and a second end. When thesmoking device 10 is a smoking bowl, thebowl 24 is formed on the upper surface near the first end, themouthpiece 28 is formed at the second end, and acarburetor 22 leading to thedraw tube 26 is formed at the first side surface near the first end. - In certain embodiments, the
magnet 18 may be adhered to an outer surface of thebody 14. For example, thebody 14 includes an indent formed at the first end. The indent may be created while blowing the glass. While the glass is hot, a steel rod may be pressed against an outer surface of thebody 14 at the end, forming the indent. Themagnet 18 is coupled to thebody 14 within the indent by an adhesive 20, such as epoxy or other type of glue. - A method of attaching a lighter to a smoking device may include the following steps. Provide the
smoking device 10 described above. Provide the lighter 12 having a ferromagnetic metal portion. Place the ferromagnetic metal portion of the lighter 12 against the magnet of thesmoking device 10, thereby attaching the lighter 12 to thesmoking device 10. - It should be understood, of course, that the foregoing relates to exemplary embodiments of the invention and that modifications may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as set forth in the following claims.
