Abstract
Description
- The present invention relates to a riveting technology, especially to a method, a structure and a tool of riveting sheet.
- A riveting operation is used for connecting two metal members, the theory is that at least one of the metal members is pressed for generating a deformation, and the deformed portion thereof is mutually embedded into the other metal member for enabling the two metal members to be connected and fastened. As such, a rivet member, for example a screw nut or a riveting nail, is often adopted in the riveting technology for being fastened on a metal sheet.
- Generally speaking, a hole is firstly formed on a metal sheet for allowing a rivet member to be disposed therein, then a tool is utilized for pressing two surfaces of the metal sheet along the vertical direction of the metal sheet, so that a deformation in the horizontal direction is formed on the metal sheet, and an internal edge of the hole is shrunk for being embedded into the rivet member. However, the conventional riveting technology is not suitable to be applied to a thin sheet. Because there is no enough thickness defined on the vertical direction of the thin sheet for the purpose of being pressed, so that a sufficient deformation in the horizontal direction for allowing the rivet member to embed cannot be formed with the deformation in the vertical direction, thereby causing the rivet member unable to be stably fastened on the thin sheet.
- Accordingly, the applicant of the present invention has devoted himself for improving the mentioned disadvantages.
- The present invention is to provide a method, a structure and a tool of riveting sheet, which enables a rivet member to be riveted on a metal sheet.
- Accordingly, the present invention provides a method of riveting sheet, including steps of: providing a metal sheet, a rivet member and a tool of riveting sheet, wherein an engaging structure is formed at an external edge of the rivet member, the tool of riveting sheet includes a first riveting head and a second riveting head, and a rib is formed on a surface of the first riveting head; defining a rivet hole on the metal sheet; disposing the rivet member in the rivet hole and arranging the engaging structure corresponding to an internal edge of the rivet hole; and clamping the rivet member by the first riveting head and the second riveting head and pressing both surfaces of the metal sheet for enabling the rib to be embedded into the metal sheet to deform the metal sheet and allowing the internal edge of the rivet hole to be shrunk to embed into the engaging structure.
- According to the method of riveting sheet provided by the present invention, the thickness of the metal sheet is smaller than 0.8 mm. The rib is served to press the metal sheet at a location close to the rivet hole. The rib is formed in a circular status, and the rib is served to surround the rivet member. The first riveting head is formed with a first positioning structure, the second riveting head is formed with a second positioning structure capable of being engaged with the first positioning structure, and the first positioning structure and the second positioning structure are allowed to pass the rivet member for being engaged with each other so as to enable the rib to be aligned with the rivet member.
- Accordingly, the present invention provides a structure of riveting sheet, which includes a metal sheet and a rivet member. A rivet hole is formed on the metal sheet; the rivet member is disposed in the rivet hole, an engaging structure is formed at an external edge of the rivet member, and an internal edge of the rivet hole is embedded into the engaging structure. A deformation slot is formed on the metal sheet and the deformation slot is located close to the rivet hole.
- According to the structure of riveting sheet provided by the present invention, the deformation slot is extended to surround the rivet hole. The thickness of the metal sheet is smaller than 0.8 mm.
- Accordingly, the present invention provides a tool of riveting sheet, which is used for riveting and fastening a rivet member on a metal sheet, a rivet hole is formed on the metal sheet, an engaging structure is formed at an external edge of the rivet member, the rivet member is disposed in the rivet hole and the engaging structure is arranged corresponding to an internal edge of the rivet hole. The tool of riveting sheet includes a first riveting head and a second riveting head used for clamping the rivet member and pressing two surfaces of the metal sheet, and a rib is formed on a surface of the first riveting head.
- According to the tool of riveting sheet provided by the present invention, the rib is formed in a circular status for being embedded into an outer periphery of the rivet hole. The first riveting head is formed with a first positioning structure, the second riveting head is formed with a second positioning structure capable of being engaged with the first positioning structure, and the first positioning structure and the second positioning structure are allowed to pass the rivet member for being engaged with each other so as to enable the rib to be aligned with the rivet member. The rib is in formed in the above-mentioned circular status and served to surround the first positioning structure.
- Accordingly, the method of riveting sheet provided by the present invention utilizes the above-mentioned tool of riveting sheet to form the above-mentioned structure of riveting sheet, a sufficient deformation can be generated at the internal edge of the rivet hole along the horizontal direction of the metal sheet through the rib being embedded into the metal sheet along the vertical direction of the metal sheet, so that the rivet member being embedded and fastened can be ensured.

- According to this embodiment, a step a) is processed: providing a
metal sheet 110, arivet member 120 and a tool of rivetingsheet 200 used for riveting therivet member 120 on themetal sheet 110. According to the present invention, the above-mentionedmetal sheet 110 is a metal sheet having a thickness smaller than 0.8 mm, and preferably to be a metal sheet having a thickness smaller than 0.6 mm. According to this embodiment, therivet member 120 is preferably to be a screw nut, but what shall be addressed is that the scope of the present invention is not limited to the above-mentioned screw nut. Anengaging structure 121 used for engaging the metal sheet is formed at an external edge of therivet member 120, according to this embodiment, theengaging structure 121 is formed as a plurality of ratchets annularly arranged at an outer circumference of the screw nut. The tool of rivetingsheet 200 includes a first rivetinghead 210 and a second rivetinghead 220, which are used for clamping therivet member 120 and pressing both surfaces of themetal sheet 110. Arib 211 is formed protrudingly on a surface of the first rivetinghead 210, wherein therib 211 is formed in a circular status. The first rivetinghead 210 is formed with afirst positioning structure 212, and the second rivetinghead 220 is formed with asecond positioning structure 222 capable of being engaged with thefirst positioning structure 212. According to this embodiment, thefirst positioning structure 212 is formed as an insertion pin and thesecond positioning structure 222 is correspondingly formed as a hole, but what shall be addressed is that the scope of the present invention is not limited to the above-mentioned arrangement, the insertion pin and the hole can be interchanged or other connecting structures can be adopted. - According to this embodiment, after the step a), a step b) is processed: defining a
rivet hole 111 on themetal sheet 110. - According to this embodiment, after the step b), a step c) is processed: disposing the
rivet member 120 in therivet hole 111 and arranging theengaging structure 121 corresponding to an internal edge of therivet hole 111. - Please refer to
FIG. 1 ,FIG. 5 andFIG. 6 , according to this embodiment, after the step c), a step d) is processed: clamping therivet member 120 by the first rivetinghead 210 and the second rivetinghead 220 and pressing the both surfaces of themetal sheet 110. Thefirst positioning structure 212 and thesecond positioning structure 222 are allowed to pass therivet member 120 for being mutually engaged and positioned, so that therib 211 is aligned with therivet member 120 for enabling therib 211 to surround therivet member 120. Wherein, therib 211 is arranged to be oriented towards the second rivetinghead 220 and therib 211 is aligned with at least a part of the second rivetinghead 220. Therib 211 is able to press a location of themetal sheet 110 defined by where therivet hole 111 is formed (preferably to be a location defined at the outer periphery of the rivet hole 111), when therib 211 is pressed, a corresponding location defined on another surface of themetal sheet 110 is supported by the second rivetinghead 220 for enabling therib 211 to be embedded into themetal sheet 110. By enabling therib 211 to be embedded at the outer periphery of therivet hole 111 of themetal sheet 110, themetal sheet 110 is deformed for allowing the internal edge of therivet hole 111 to be shrunk to embed into theengaging structure 121, so that the structure of rivetingsheet 100 composed of themetal sheet 110 and therivet member 120 is assembled. - According to this embodiment, after the step d), a step e) is processed: separating the first riveting
head 210 and the second rivetinghead 220, and removing the structure of rivetingsheet 100 from the tool of rivetingsheet 200. - Based on what has been disclosed above, the structure of riveting
sheet 100 made by the above-mentioned method of riveting sheet includes themetal sheet 110 and therivet member 120. The thickness of themetal sheet 110 is smaller than 0.8 mm, and preferably smaller than 0.6 mm. Therivet hole 111 is formed on themetal sheet 110. Therivet member 120 is disposed in therivet hole 111, the external edge of therivet member 120 is formed with theengaging structure 121, and the internal edge of therivet hole 111 is embedded into theengaging structure 121. Wherein, adeformation slot 112 close to therivet hole 111 is formed on themetal sheet 110, thedeformation slot 112 is formed through therib 211 of the tool of rivetingsheet 200 being embedded into themetal sheet 110, the appearance thereof is corresponding to that of therib 211, and thedeformation slot 112 is preferably to be extended to surround therivet hole 111. - With the method, the structure and the tool of riveting sheet provided by the present invention, the
rib 211 is able to be embedded into themetal sheet 110 along the vertical direction of themetal sheet 110, so that the internal edge of therivet hole 111 defined in the horizontal direction of themetal sheet 110 can be formed with a sufficient deformation to ensure therivet member 120 to be embedded. In addition, therib 211 only compresses a part of themetal sheet 110, so that the whole structural strength of themetal sheet 110 is not decreased. Moreover, therib 211 can also be formed in a staged and discontinuous status, so that thedeformation slot 112 formed through pressing themetal sheet 110 can be formed as a discontinuous cut slot for reinforcing the structural strength where thedeformation slot 112 is formed - Although the present invention has been described with reference to the foregoing preferred embodiment, it will be understood that the invention is not limited to the details thereof. Various equivalent variations and modifications can still occur to those skilled in this art in view of the teachings of the present invention. Thus, all such variations and equivalent modifications are also embraced within the scope of the invention as defined in the appended claims.
