Abstract

A garment adjustment system includes a garment, a flexible strap, and a buckle. The garment adjustment system is useful for decreasing and alternately increasing the size of an opening of a garment so that the garment obtains a more fashionable and alternately useful function for a user-wearer.

Description

    BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • The following includes information that may be useful in understanding the present disclosure. It is not an admission that any of the information provided herein is prior art nor material to the presently described or claimed inventions, nor that any publication or document that is specifically or implicitly referenced is prior art.
  • 1. FIELD OF THE INVENTION
  • The present invention relates generally to the field of garments and more specifically relates to garment fasteners.
  • 2. DESCRIPTION OF RELATED ART
  • Clothing serves many functions from maintaining modesty in a hospital setting to a soldier's uniform in the armed services. They are made from a variety of textiles such as silk, cotton, denim, and the like. There are also clothing items that perform functions such as a fireman's suit, or a diver's suit. Currently, there is a great emphasis on fashion and flexibility in a single item of clothing.
  • U.S. Pat. No. 3,104,436 to Frank Ostolaza relates to a buckle. The described buckle includes a buckle by means of which the length of a hat band can be adjusted and which will retain its adjusted length.
  • BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • In view of the foregoing disadvantages inherent in the known garment fastener art, the present disclosure provides a novel garment adjustment system. The general purpose of the present disclosure, which will be described subsequently in greater detail, is to provide a garment adjustment system that is efficient and functionally fashionable in use.
  • An upper body garment adjustment system is disclosed herein. The upper body garment adjustment system includes an upper body garment, at least one adjustable belt having a flexible strap and a buckle configured to adjust the flexible strap, and a slit which may be configured to allow the size of the opening to increase and alternately decrease (as manipulated) via the flexible belt. The upper body garment has a left sleeve, a right sleeve, a neck-aperture, and a shirt-waist-aperture. The at least one adjustable belt may be irremovably integrated into the upper body garment, and may be used for decreasing and alternately increasing the size of an opening on the left sleeve, the right sleeve, the neck-aperture, and alternately the shirt-waist-aperture.
  • According to another embodiment, a lower body garment adjustment system is also disclosed herein. The lower body garment adjustment system includes a lower body garment, at least one adjustable belt having a flexible strap and a buckle configured to adjust the flexible strap, and a slit which may be configured to allow the size of the opening to increase and alternately decrease via the flexible belt. According to this embodiment, the lower body garment has a left leg, a right leg, and a pant-waist-aperture. The at least one adjustable belt may be irremovably integrated into the lower body garment, and may be used for decreasing and alternately increasing the size of an opening on the left leg, the right leg, and alternately the pant-waist-aperture.
  • According to another embodiment, a garment adjustment system is also disclosed herein. The garment adjustment system includes a flexible strap, a fastener; wherein the flexible strap and the fastener in functional combination are configured to tighten and alternately loosen the garment item about a user-wearer, as the flexible strap is moved in relation to the fastener, while the fastener may be used to restrict relative movement of the flexible strap.
  • For purposes of summarizing the invention, certain aspects, advantages, and novel features of the invention have been described herein. It is to be understood that not necessarily all such advantages may be achieved in accordance with any one particular embodiment of the invention. Thus, the invention may be embodied or carried out in a manner that achieves or optimizes one advantage or group of advantages as taught herein without necessarily achieving other advantages as may be taught or suggested herein. The features of the invention which are believed to be novel are particularly pointed out and distinctly claimed in the concluding portion of the specification. These and other features, aspects, and advantages of the present invention will become better understood with reference to the following drawings and detailed description.
  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
  • The figures which accompany the written portion of this specification illustrate embodiments and methods of use for the present disclosure, a garment adjustment system, constructed and operative according to the teachings of the present disclosure.
  • FIG. 1 is a perspective view of the upper body garment adjustment system during an ‘in-use’ condition, according to an embodiment of the disclosure.
  • FIG. 2 is a close-up view of the upper body garment adjustment system of FIG. 2, according to an embodiment of the present disclosure.
  • FIG. 3 is a close-up view of the lower body garment adjustment system of FIG. 3, according to an embodiment of the present disclosure.
  • FIG. 4 is a perspective view of the garment adjustment system of FIG. 1, according to an embodiment of the present disclosure.
  • FIG. 5 is a flow diagram illustrating a method of use for the garment adjustment system, according to an embodiment of the present disclosure.
  • The various embodiments of the present invention will hereinafter be described in conjunction with the appended drawings, wherein like designations denote like elements.
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION
  • As discussed above, embodiments of the present disclosure relate to garment fasteners and more particularly to a garment adjustment system as used to improve the look and functional-style of garments for a user-wearer.
  • Generally, mainstream styles of clothing may be combined into one and functional for adjustment using the present invention making it eye catching for more than one style of person.
  • Referring now more specifically to the drawings by numerals of reference, there is shown in FIGS. 1-4, various views of a garment adjustment system 100. FIG. 1 shows a garment adjustment system during an ‘in-use’ condition 150, according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. Here, the garment adjustment system 100 may be beneficial for use by a user 140 to decrease the size of an opening 120 on a garment. As illustrated, the garment adjustment system 100 may include an upper body garment 210, a lower body garment 310, and at least one adjustable belt 112 having a flexible strap 114 and a buckle 116 configured to adjust the flexible strap 114, and a slit 118 which may be configured to allow the size of the opening 120 to increase and alternately decrease via the flexible belt 122.
  • According to embodiments disclosed herein, the garment adjustment system 100 may be arranged as a kit 105. In particular, the garment adjustment system 100 may further include a set of instructions 155. The instructions 155 may detail functional relationships in relation to the structure of the garment adjustment system 100 (such that the garment adjustment system 100 can be used, maintained, or the like, in a preferred manner).
  • FIG. 2 is a close-up view of the upper body garment adjustment system 200 of FIG. 2, according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. As above, the upper body garment adjustment system 200 may include an upper body garment 210, at least one adjustable belt 212 having a flexible strap 214 and a buckle 216 configured to adjust the flexible strap 214, and a slit 218 which may be configured to allow the size of the opening 220 to increase and alternately decrease via the flexible belt 222. This may be useful for closing the ends of the garment during cool weather to help maintain body heat of the user-wearer. Alternately, during warm weather, the flexible belt 222 may remain open to promote air flow.
  • FIG. 3 is a close-up view of the lower body garment adjustment system 300 of FIG. 3, according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. As above, the lower body garment adjustment system 300 may include a lower body garment 310, at least one adjustable belt 312 having a flexible strap 314 and a buckle 316 configured to adjust the flexible strap 314, and a slit 318 which may be configured to allow the size of the opening 320 to increase and alternately decrease via the flexible belt 322. This may be useful for closing the ends of the garment during cool weather to help maintain body heat of the user-wearer. Alternately, during warm weather, the flexible belt 322 may remain open to promote air flow.
  • FIG. 4 is a perspective view of the garment adjustment system 100 of FIG. 1, according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. As above, the garment adjustment system 100 may include a flexible strap 114, and a fastener 117, wherein the flexible strap 114 and the fastener 117 in functional combination, are configured to tighten and alternately loosen the garment item about a user-wearer, as the flexible strap 114 is moved in relation to the fastener 117, while the fastener 117 may be used to restrict relative movement of the flexible strap 114. The garment adjustment system 100 may be added in various areas of garments as desired by the user-wearer.
  • FIG. 5 is a flow diagram illustrating a method of use 500 for the garment adjustment system 100, according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. In particular, the method 500 for the garment adjustment system 100 may include one or more components or features of the garment adjustment system 100 as described above. As illustrated, the method 500 may include the steps of: step one 501, donning the garment; step two 502, cinching the strap through the buckle; and step three 503, cinching multiple straps.
  • It should be noted that step 503 is an optional step and may not be implemented in all cases. Optional steps of method of use 500 are illustrated using dotted lines in FIG. 5 so as to distinguish them from the other steps of method of use 500. It should also be noted that the steps described in the method of use can be carried out in many different orders according to user preference. The use of “step of” should not be interpreted as “step for”, in the claims herein and is not intended to invoke the provisions of 35 U.S.C. § 112(f). It should also be noted that, under appropriate circumstances, considering such issues as design preference, user preferences, marketing preferences, cost, structural requirements, available materials, technological advances, etc., other methods for adjustment of the garment adjustment system (e.g., different step orders within above-mentioned list, elimination or addition of certain steps, including or excluding certain maintenance steps, etc.), are taught herein.
  • The embodiments of the invention described herein are exemplary and numerous modifications, variations and rearrangements can be readily envisioned to achieve substantially equivalent results, all of which are intended to be embraced within the spirit and scope of the invention. Further, the purpose of the foregoing abstract is to enable the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and the public generally, and especially the scientist, engineers and practitioners in the art who are not familiar with patent or legal terms or phraseology, to determine quickly from a cursory inspection the nature and essence of the technical disclosure of the application.

Claims (20)

What is claimed is new and desired to be protected by Letters Patent is set forth in the appended claims:
1. An upper body garment adjustment system, the system comprising:
an upper body garment having a left sleeve, a right sleeve, a neck-aperture, and a shirt-waist-aperture; and
at least one adjustable belt having a flexible strap and a buckle configured to adjust the flexible strap;
wherein the at least one adjustable belt is irremovably integrated into the upper body garment; and
wherein the upper body garment adjustment system is useful for decreasing a size of opening of at least one of the left sleeve, the right sleeve, the neck-aperture, and alternatively the shirt-waist-aperture.
2. The upper body garment adjustment system of claim 1 wherein the upper body garment adjustment system is useful for increasing a size of opening of at least one of the left sleeve, the right sleeve, the neck-aperture, and alternatively the shirt-waist-aperture.
3. The upper body garment adjustment system of claim 1 wherein the buckle comprises an open-face buckle.
4. The upper body garment adjustment system of claim 1 wherein the left sleeve, the right sleeve, the neck-aperture, and the waist-aperture include a slit configured to allow the size of the opening to increase and alternatively decrease via the flexible belt.
5. The upper body garment adjustment system of claim 4 wherein the size of the opening is able to increase and alternatively decrease approximately fifty percent in size.
6. The upper body garment adjustment system of claim 1 wherein the flexible strap is sewn into an inseam of the upper body garment.
7. The upper body garment adjustment system of claim 1 wherein the upper body garment comprises a blouse.
8. The upper body garment adjustment system of claim 1 wherein the upper body garment comprises a dress shirt.
9. The upper body garment adjustment system of claim 1 wherein the upper body garment comprises a suit jacket.
10. A lower body garment adjustment system, the system comprising:
a lower body garment having a left leg, a right leg, and a pant-waist-aperture;
at least one adjustable belt having a flexible strap and a buckle configured to adjust the flexible strap;
wherein the at least one adjustable belt is irremovably integrated into the lower body garment; and
wherein the lower body garment adjustment system is useful for decreasing a size of opening of at least one of the left leg, the right leg, and alternately the pant-waist-aperture.
11. The lower body garment adjustment system of claim 10 wherein the lower body garment adjustment system is useful for increasing a size of opening of at least one of the left leg, the right leg, and alternatively the pant-waist-aperture.
12. The lower body garment adjustment system of claim 10 wherein the buckle comprises an open-face buckle.
13. The lower body garment adjustment system of claim 10 wherein the left leg, the right leg, and the pant-waist-aperture include a slit configured to allow the size of the opening to increase and alternatively decrease via the flexible belt.
14. The lower body garment adjustment system of claim 13 wherein the size of the opening is able to increase and alternatively decrease approximately fifty percent in size.
15. The lower body garment adjustment system of claim 10 wherein the flexible strap is sewn into an inseam of the lower body garment.
16. The lower body garment adjustment system of claim 10 wherein the lower body garment comprises pants.
17. The lower body garment adjustment system of claim 10 wherein the lower body garment comprises shorts.
18. A garment adjustment system, the system comprising:
a flexible strap including;
a first-end,
a second-end, and
a length, and
a fastener including;
a periphery, and
a center-bar,
wherein the flexible strap is defined by the first-end, the second-end, about the length, the length formed between the first-end, and the second-end,
wherein the fastener is defined by the periphery, and the center-bar,
wherein the flexible strap and the fastener are independently fixed to a garment item; and
wherein the flexible strap and the fastener in functional combination are configured to tighten and alternately loosen the garment item about a user-wearer, as the flexible strap is moved in relation to the fastener, the fastener used to restrict relative movement of the flexible strap.
19. The garment adjustment system of claim 18, wherein the fastener comprises a buckle.
20. The garment adjustment system of claim 19, wherein the buckle comprises an open face.
