- Not Applicable.
- The present embodiment relates generally to exercise garments, and more particularly to a back support shirt that provides cushion support to the back upper torso of a user and also provides a pouch to carry a towel.
- Most of the people are health conscious and invest a good amount of time for performing some routine exercises or various other sporting activities. Some of the exercises or sporting activities require a cushion back support, while performing them to avoid back injuries. Some workers also require back support while performing their regular tasks. In such cases workers are required to wear certain type of garments which have additional device such as belts, coats or jackets to support their upper back which might interfere performing their regular work. Further, a towel is also an essential item while performing such exercises or sporting activities to wipe perspiration. The towel easily gets misplaced during the exercise or outdoor sporting activity. There is no real convenient place for holding the towel and use whenever needed. Conventional exercise garments are not always readily useable in such situations.
- One of the currently available exercise garments includes a support belt in combination with cinch straps to provide the desired back support. Although this back support performs its function quite well, it must be worn in a support mode at all times to maintain its proper position. In some other exercise garment, the back support may become hot and uncomfortable to wear. Moreover, support belts may be considered by some people to be unsightly or inappropriate for performing some form of physical workouts. In addition, it does not provide any option to store a towel which is ideal for wiping perspiration during a run or other exercise routines. Another exercise shirt provides a towel-like appendage attached to the shirt. The towel-like appendage is preferably attached at one of its ends proximate the neck opening on the back of the shirt. However, the towel-like appendage flips over the user's shoulder and can interfere with the outdoor activities. Further, the free-swinging towel can cause discomfort for many users.
- Therefore, there is a need for a back support shirt that provides cushion support to the back upper torso of a user and which also provides a pouch to carry a towel. Such a shirt would provide an easily accessible towel. Such a shirt would provide comfort of a back cushion that gives the most ultimate support while performing exercises. Further, such a shirt would provide a built in back cushion and form fitting shirt technology that provides a cocoon of comfort and allows to experience endless active possibilities of exercise or various other sporting activities. Moreover, such a shirt would provide an easily accessible towel that blends into a pouch on the back of the shirt with a superb fit and would be able to be stored therein when not in use. The present embodiment accomplishes these objectives.
- The present embodiment overcomes the existing shortcomings in this area by accomplishing these objectives.
- The present invention is a back support shirt that provides a cushion support to the back upper torso of a user. The back support shirt comprises a front portion, a back portion, a towel and a pair of hand engaging means. The front portion and the back portion are sewn together so as to form a head insert opening and hand insert openings. The pair of hand engaging means is sewn with the hand insert openings to form the back support shirt. The back portion includes a back top portion, a back center portion and a back lower portion. The back center portion is made of a plurality of layers seamed together to form a stiff support for the back upper torso of the user.
- The plurality of layers of the back center portion is seamed together so as to form a pouch with an opening on an upper portion. The plurality of layers includes an outer layer, a first lining layer, a first waterproof layer, a padding layer, a second waterproof layer and a second lining layer. The first lining layer, the first waterproof layer, the padding layer, the second waterproof layer and the second lining layer are stitched together to form a single unit. This is then sewn with the outer layer so as to form the pouch with the opening. The pouch is thus formed between the outer layer and the first lining layer.
- The opening is surrounded by a hard tape by stitching the hard tape inside the periphery of the opening on the first lining layer and the outer layer. The hard tape prevents deformation of the opening while using the pouch for storing the towel. A first Velcro® strip is attached to the hard tape on the first lining layer. The towel includes a second Velcro® strip attached to a head end and a third Velcro® strip attached to a tail end on a front side of the towel, a fourth Velcro® strip (not shown) is attached to the tail end on a back side of the towel and a pull out loop attached to the tail end of the towel to pull the towel out of the pouch by the user. The second Velcro® strip and the third Velcro® strip attach to fold the towel and enable a user to insert the towel into the pouch on the back portion. The fourth Velcro® strip attaches with the first Velcro® strip on the opening with the pull out loop positioned outward the pouch. The front portion, the back portion and the pair of hand engaging means are sewn together to form the back support shirt which is configured to carry the towel inside the pouch and the back portion provides a cushion support to the upper torso of the user. The back support shirt accelerates the warm up time to about 4-7 minutes. Within a workout of 30 minutes continuous approximately 1 pound of weight/water weight may be lost. When the towel is activated, the temperature can change from 99° to 63.8° within 2-3 minutes.
- Other features and advantages of the present invention will become apparent from the following more detailed description, taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings, which illustrate, by way of example, the principles of the invention.
