Abstract
The invention relates to a vented laundry dryer, comprising of a rotating drum covered by an outer case (02), an air inlet duct (1) and an air outlet duct (6). The said rotating drum (8) can rotate in both clockwise and anti-clockwise direction on a timer schedule. An air inlet duct (1) from where the heated air is blown inside the rotating drum has a fan (4) attached at the end of the air inlet duct, which pumps air inside and a heater is attached which heats the air before it blown inside the rotating drum. It further, has an air outlet duct (6) from where the exhausted hot air is removed from the said rotating drum with the help of an additional fan (5) placed at the exterior of the air outlet duct (6). These two fans work in together in such a manner that the laundry dryer works efficiently in drying the clothes. The dual fan mechanism for enabling the extraction of moist air from the rotating drum and increasing the hot air flow into the drum, in turn reducing the time required for drying the fabrics in the dryer.
Description
- The instant application claims priority to Indian Patent Application Serial No. 747/MUM/2015, filed Mar. 9, 2015, pending, the entire specification of which is expressly incorporated herein by reference.
- The present invention relates generally to dryers and methods of drying. More particularly, the present invention relates to a venting dryer with two fans wherein, first fan is for blowing hot air into the machine, the second is for extracting the moisture-laden air out.
- In a vented dryer, air is drawn from the surrounding area (i.e. the laundry room), then heated and blown into the drum where the wet clothes are tumbled to be dried. This hot air evaporates some of the water in the damp fabrics, and the resultant moisture-laden air is then exhausted through a vent duct to the outside.
- A patent application US20090119943A1 discloses a vented dryer having a drying chamber for items to be dried, a supply air duct to supply air, in which is situated a heater for heating the supply air and the heated supply air (process air) can be directed by means of a first fan over the items to be dried, an exhaust air duct, a motor for driving the drying chamber, a first heat exchanger in the exhaust air duct and a condensate pan arranged beneath the first heat exchanger, whereby the vented dryer has first means for the discharge of warm air from a housing interior surrounding the motor toward the condensate pan and away across the latter. The invention also relates to a method for the operation of this vented dryer.
- A patent application EP 2642017 A1 discloses a vented laundry dryer which comprises a casing supporting a revolving drum and having a basement, and an air circulation system, the air circulation system including an inlet duct to intake air from the outside to the drum and a exhaust tube to exhaust the air from the drum to the outside. The exhaust tube is realized in correspondence of the basement and includes a connecting device apt to connect said exhaust tube to an external exhaust tube. The connecting device is realized integral to the exhaust tube.
- A patent application US 20140165420 A1 discloses a vented laundry dryer, comprising an air inlet duct, an air outlet duct, a heat recovery system for transferring heat from the air outlet duct to the air inlet duct, and an additional heater, wherein the heat recovery system is a heat pump comprising an evaporator, a liquefier, a condenser, and a relaxation unit, wherein the liquefier is thermally coupled to the air inlet duct, and the evaporator is thermally coupled to the air outlet duct, and a relaxation property of the relaxation unit can be adjusted depending on at least one parameter that is connected to an activity of the additional heater. A method is used to operate a vented heat dryer comprising an additional heater and a heat pump having a relaxation unit, wherein the method comprises the following steps: (a) monitoring at least one parameter that is connected to an activity of the additional heater; and (b) changing a relaxation property of the relaxation unit depending on the at least one parameter.
- The object of the present invention is to provide a vented dryer with two fans. Another object of the present invention is to provide for a vented dryer wherein, one fan blows hot air into the dryer and the second fan extracts the moist air out of the dryer.
- The present invention relates to a venting dryer with two fans. Traditionally, venting dryers come with only one fan, which introduces hot air into the machine. However, the single fan-venting dryers face the problem of moist air formed due to moisture of the clothes and hot air. This moist air delays the drying time of the clothes thereby making such dryers less efficient.
- The venting dryer with two fans overcomes the problem of moist air with the introduction of second fan, which acts as an exhaust to suck out the moist air from the machine thereby reducing the drying time of the wet clothes.
-
FIG. 1 illustrates the side plan view of washer dryer having dual fan arrangement as shown therein comprising of An Outer Case (01), Rotating Drum (08), Fan #1 (04), Fan #2 (05), Heating Assembly (02). - The present invention describes generally to dryers and methods of drying. More particularly, the present invention relates to a vented laundry dryer with two fans wherein, the first fan is for blowing hot air that can be used for drying the fabrics into the machine and the second is for extracting the moist air out of the machine.
- According to one of the embodiment of the present invention this laundry dryer provides a high-efficiency dryer having two fans, so to be able to operate such that one fan is for blowing hot air into the machine; the second is for extracting the moist air out. Furthermore, it must be possible to obtain this flexibility in an easy and simple way, without requiring any major actions to be carried out on the dryer.
- According to one of the embodiment of the present invention, a laundry dryer, particularly comprising an outer case (01); a rotating drum covered by an outer case (3), an air inlet duct (1) and air outlet duct (6). The said rotating drum (8) can rotate in both clockwise and anti-clockwise direction on a timer schedule; an air inlet duct (1) from where the heated air is blown inside the rotating drum has a fan (4) attached at the end of the air inlet duct, which pumps air inside and a heater is attached which heats the air before it blown inside the rotating drum. It further, has an air outlet duct (6) from where the exhausted hot air is removed from the said rotating drum with the help of an additional fan (5) placed at the exterior of the air outlet duct. These two fans work in together in such a manner that the laundry dryer works efficiently in drying the clothes. Thus, the vented laundry dryer of the present invention consists of one fan (4) that blows hot air into the rotating drum via air inlet duct and another fan (5) to remove the exhausted hot air from the rotating drum via air outlet duct.
- The hot air is introduced from the laundry room using a standard blower and motor attached (together as heating element and heater housing assembly hereafter) (2) inside the laundry dryer machine. The heating assembly (2) heats the air which is then introduced into the rotating drum (8) containing the fabrics to be dried, with the help of the first fan (4). The hot air circulates inside the drum (7) thereby helping in drying the clothes in the dryer. The moist air created during the drying of the clothes is then exhausted out of the machine by means of second fan (5), thereby increasing the hot air-flow in the machine and reducing the drying time. Thus, the first fan (4) is for blowing hot air into the machine, the second fan (5) is for extracting the air out wherein; the said arrangement can be applied in a stand-alone dryer, or in the dryer segment of a combo washer dryer (venting type).
- The main advantage of this invention is that the dual fans overcome the problem of the exhausting moist air from the drum by blowing hot air into it with the help of one fan and extracting the moist air with second fan and this reduces the time required for the drying of the fabrics.
Claims (2)
1. A vented laundry dryer for drying fabrics, wherein a drying mechanism includes an air inlet duct, which passes the hot air inside a rotating drum with the help of one fan which blows hot air from the outside to the said rotating drum, and an air outlet duct which carries the exhausted hot air away from the said rotating drum with the help of second fan.
2. The vented laundry dryer as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the said fan blows hot air generated by a heater into the said rotating drum which get circulated inside the said rotating drum thereby absorbing moisture from the fabrics and is exhausted outside the said rotating drum by means of another fan enabling reduction in drying time.
