Abstract

A support stand for a cooking wok includes a plurality of legs and a fuel supporting plate or disc. The legs are attached to the fuel supporting plate or disc intermediate the upper and lower portions of the legs via a plurality of notches provided in the periphery of the disc or legs or in both. A weld is provided at the notches to fixedly secure the legs to the fuel support disc.

Description

BACKGROUND OF INVENTION

1. Field of the Invention
This invention relates to a support stand for a wok cooking dish. The support stand includes a disc shaped member secured to a plurality of legs. The disc shaped member serves as a support for fuel for heating the contents of a wok which is supported by the stand.
2. Description of Related Art
U.S. Pat. No. 943,569 discloses a collapsible pocket stove device including a disc 1 that supports fuel and is releasably attached to a plurality of legs 22.
U.S. Pat. No. 4,502,460 discloses a first disc for supporting fuel having a plurality of legs 44 extending downwardly from the disc. A second cooking disc 14 supported by legs 28 is placed on top of the fuel supporting disc 40. The assembly is not stable and can easily be knocked over such that the food and or fuel would be scattered on the ground.

BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The invention disclosed herein is for a stable support stand for a wok cooking dish. The stand includes a plurality of legs that are securely attached to a disc that serves as a support for fuel. The disc is connected to the legs at a point intermediate their ends such that legs extend vertically above the fuel disc. The upper ends of the legs are sloped to support a cooking wok which may include one or more handles.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

Referring to FIG. 1, an embodiment of a support stand 10 includes a plurality of legs 11, 12 and 13. Each leg has an upper portion 14, 15, 16 respectively and a lower portion 18, 19 and 20 respectively. Legs 11, 12 and 13 may have a circular or rectangular cross-sectional area.
A circular plate 17 which may be planar or have a curved inner disc surface includes a plurality of notches 7, 8 and 9 which are sized so as to receive the legs 18, 19 and 20 at a location between the upper and lower portions of the legs as shown in FIG. 1. The cross-sectional profile of the legs closely match the surfaces of the grooves 7, 8 and 9 so that there is a sliding fit between the legs and the grooves in the plate. The legs are secured to disc 17 by welding so that a stable support standing for the cooking wok is formed. As shown in FIG. 2 a wok disc 22 has a pair of handles 23 and 24 extending from the sides. Both the fuel supporting plate 17 and the cooking wok 22 may consist of a conventional plow disc that is typically used on a plow to cultivate soil. Wok 22 can be placed on and supported by the upper ends 14, 15 and 16 of the support legs. The upper portions of each of the legs 14, 15 and 16 may include a second support member 30 that together with the first upper portion is shaped and positioned to conform to the curved surface of the wok.
A second embodiment of the manner of securing the legs to the disc 17 is shown in FIG. 4. In this embodiment a notch 42 is formed in legs 41. The periphery of disc 17 absent notches 7, 8 and 9 as shown in FIG. 5 can then be positioned within notches 42 and secured by a weld at the point where the disc contacts the notches. Alternatively both the legs 41 and disc 17 could have notches that receive each other and the legs could be welded at that point to the disc.
Although the present invention has been described with respect to specific details, it is not intended that such details should be regarded as limitations on the scope of the invention, except to the extent that they are included in the accompanying claims.

Claims

I claim:

1. A support stand for a wok comprising:

a plurality of support legs having an upper portion and a lower portion;

a fuel support plate; and

means for fixedly securing the support legs to the fuel support plate at a location intermediate the upper and lower portions of the support legs.

2. A support stand for wok wherein the means for fixedly securing the support legs to the fuel support plate includes a plurality of notches formed in the periphery of the fuel support plate and a weld between each support leg and each notch.

3. A support stand for a wok as claimed in claim 1 wherein the means for fixedly securing the support legs to the fuel support plate includes a notch in each one of the support legs and a weld between each notch and the fuel support plate.

4. A support stand for a wok as claimed in claim 1 wherein the means for fixedly securing the support legs to the fuel support plate includes a notch in each leg and a plurality of notches in the periphery of the fuel support plate, and a weld extending between the notch in each leg and the notches in the fuel support plate.

5. A support stand for a wok as claimed in claim 1 wherein the plurality of legs comprises three legs.
