Description

    BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • 1. Field of the Invention
  • The present invention relates to an article of clothing. More particularly, the present invention relates to a versatile bathrobe that has removable sleeves or sleeve sections and removeable lower length sections.
  • A versatile bathrobe allows the wearer to detach and re-attach sections of the versatile bathrobe, namely the sleeve sections and the lower length section. The versatile functionality of this versatile bathrobe creates at least 4 different robes . . . 1) full length, long sleeves, 2) full length, sleeveless, 3) shorter length, long sleeves, 4) shorter length, sleeveless.
  • 2. Description of the Prior Art
  • In most cases, bathrobes are worn for warmth, for comfort, for lounging, as a cover-up prior to getting dressed, or as a cover-up for a bathing suit. While meeting the robe wearers immediate needs, extended wear of the bathrobe can cause the wearer to begin to feel overheat or can hinder tasks due to bulkiness of the garment, which are also the main reasons why non-robe wearers don't wear robes at all. Seasonal changes also effect the year-round bathrobe wearing habits. One's ‘favorite full-length long sleeve bathrobe’ throughout the colder months may become unwearable during the warmer months.
  • This versatile bathrobe is intended to meet the needs of robe wearers all-year-round and provide robe wearers with more unencumbered freedom to perform tasks and empower robe wearers to regulate their body temperature without abandoning the comfort of their robe. The new versatile nature of this versatile bathrobe is also intended to entice non-robe wearers into becoming robe-wearers mitigating the drawbacks and obstacles of wearing a robe.
  • SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • The present invention discloses a modified bathrobe that contains modular sections allowing the wearer to detach and re-attach sections of the versatile bathrobe, namely the sleeve sections and the lower length section. The versatile bathrobe of the present invention comprises a main body having a first shoulder portion, a second, opposing shoulder portion, a collar portion, a first arm opening, and a second, opposing arm opening; a first sleeve that covers the first arm opening and extends downward therefrom, a second sleeve that covers the second arm opening and extends downward therefrom, each of the sleeves having a distal end; and an openable seam at the top of both sleeves starting at or near the shoulder, traveling under the arm and stopping at the same point where the opening started. The lower portion of the versatile bathrobe has an openable seam which travels the horizontal width of the bathrobe and is x number of inches up from the bottom of the bathrobe length.
  • This versatile bathrobe is intended to meet the needs of robe wearers (adults and children) all-year-round and provide robe wearers with more unencumbered freedom to perform tasks and empower robe wearers to regulate their body temperature without abandoning the comfort of their robe. The new versatile nature of this versatile bathrobe is also intended to entice non-robe wearers into becoming robe-wearers mitigating the drawbacks and obstacles of wearing a robe. The versatile functionality of this versatile bathrobe creates 4 different robes . . . 1) full length, long sleeves, 2) full length, sleeveless, 3) shorter length, long sleeves, 4) shorter length, sleeveless. Having 4 robes in 1 can save the robe wearer money since they have such a variety of wearing choices all packaged into this one versatile bathrobe. The versatile bathrobe can go from being a comfy article of clothing to a sexy piece of intimate apparel since as the components are removed (sleeves and lower length section), more skin begins to show.
  • Other aspects and advantages of the present invention will become apparent from reading the following detailed description and the accompanying drawings.

  • FIG. 3 is a diagrammatic front view of at least 4 different robe styles that can be created from this one versatile bathrobe. full length, long sleeves (3 a); shorter length, long sleeves (3 b); full length, sleeveless (3 c); shorter length, sleeveless (3 d).
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS
  • Referring now more particularly to FIG. 1 of the accompanying drawings, the preferred embodiment of the versatile bathrobe in accordance with the present invention is generally designated by numeral 10. The versatile bathrobe 10 has a main body 10A that includes a generally rectangular shaped back portion 11, a back lower length portion 11A, a generally rectangular shaped right front portion 12, a right lower length front portion 12A, a generally rectangular shaped left front portion 13, a left lower length front portion 13A (note that the “right” side of the garment corresponds to the “left” side of the drawing). Part of the back portion 11 and part of the right front portion 12 form a right shoulder portion 14, and part of the back portion 11 and part of the left front portion 13 form a left shoulder portion 15. As best illustrated in FIG. 1, part of the back portion 11 as well as part of the left and right front portions forms a main front opening 20 of the versatile bathrobe 10.
  • The main body 10A of the versatile bathrobe 10 further includes a collar portion 21 that is atop the main front opening 20 of the versatile bathrobe 10, a right arm opening 22, and a left arm opening 23.
  • The versatile bathrobe 10 further has a right sleeve 24, an upper portion of right sleeve noted as 24A, and the upper end 25 of which is attached by a select fastener as shown in FIG. 3, to part of the back portion 11 and part of the right front portion 12 that form the right arm opening 22. As best illustrated in FIG. 1, the right sleeve 24 completely covers the right arm opening 22, and extends outward and downward therefrom. The right sleeve 24 has a distal end 26 at its lower end 27, represented in the preferred embodiment as a cuff.
  • In a similar fashion, the versatile bathrobe 10 further has a left sleeve 30, an upper portion of the left sleeve noted as 30A, and the upper end 31 of which is attached by a select fastener as shown in FIG. 2, to part of the back portion 11 and part of the left front portion 13 that form the left arm opening 23. The left sleeve 30 completely covers the left arm opening 23, and extends outward and downward therefrom. The left sleeve 30 has a distal end 32 at its lower end 33, also represented in the preferred embodiment as a cuff.
  • In addition, the versatile bathrobe 10 preferably has a belt 34 around its waist area so that a wearer may temporarily and loosely close the main front opening 20.
  • As best seen in FIG. 1, the versatile bathrobe 10 has a seam of fasteners as shown in FIG. 2 on the right side of 10A that begins from 41 on the edge or rim of 25 and travels under the arm of 40 until it reaches 41 where it started. This allows the sleeve 24 to be detached and reattached from the main body of the bathrobe 10A. As should be understood, there are some variations to the position of seams 40. For example, seam 40 may be on the mid or upper arm sleeve portion 40A/41A instead of on the edge or rim of 25. As a general rule for the sleeve seam 40, it begins from a designated starting point on the sleeve 24 and travels under around the arm until it reaches the starting point. This allows the lower portion of sleeve 24 to be detached and reattached by selected fastener as shown in FIG. 2 from the upper portion of main sleeve 24A. Should the position of seam 40, not be in the same location of seam 25, then 25 would be attached to the main body of the bathrobe 10A preferably by sewing.
  • As best seen in FIG. 1, the versatile bathrobe 10 has a seam of fasteners as shown in FIG. 2 on the left side of 10A that begins from 51 on the edge or rim of 31 and travels under the arm of 50 until it reaches 51 where it started. This allows the sleeve 30 to be detached and reattached from the main body of the bathrobe 10A. As should be understood, there are some variations to the position of seams 50. For example, seam 50 may be on the mid or upper arm sleeve portion 50A/51A instead of on the edge or rim of 31. As a general rule for the sleeve seam 50, it begins from a designated starting point on the sleeve 30 and travels under around the arm until it reaches the starting point. This allows the lower portion of sleeve 30 to be detached and reattached by selected fastener as shown in FIG. 2 from the upper portion of main sleeve 30A. Should the position of seam 50, not be in the same location of seam 31, then 31 would be attached to the main body of the bathrobe 10A preferably by sewing.
  • As best seen in FIG. 1, the versatile bathrobe 10 has a seam of fasteners as shown in FIG. 2 on the lower length portion of 10A that begins from 61 on the edge or rim of 60 and travels around the lower length portion of the robe until it reaches 61 where it started. This allows the entire power length section 62 to be detached and reattached from the main body of the bathrobe 10A.
  • As shown in FIG. 2, the seams 40, 50, 60 are selectively closed by any of the following fasteners (shown in FIG. 3): zipper 42, snap fasteners 43, buttons and holes 44, strings 45, Velcro type hook and loop fastener 46. The zipper 42 has a length that is substantially equal to the entire length of the seams 40, 50, 60. As should be understood, the other fasteners shown in FIG. 2 in the form of a number of spaced, shorter pierces that are positioned along the length of the seam 40, 50, 60.
