Description

FIELD AND BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • This invention relates to an ornamental combination.
  • The Jewish holiday of Hanukah is celebrated during the month of December, during which a spinning top is traditionally used. During this month the Christian world is celebrating the Christmas holiday, which is typically symbolized by the Christmas tree with its traditional Red, White and Green colors and traditional tree decorations. As some communities and families over the world celebrate both Hanukah and Christmas at the same approximate time, the present invention provides an ornamental dual purpose combination allowing for both traditionally representing the Hanukah holiday and the Christmas holiday.
  • SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • The present invention provides a combination that comprises at least two parts. Of these, a first part has a stem with a free end that defines an axis and has a body that extends along the axis from the stem to terminate at a tip. The second part has a receptacle for receiving the free end of the stem. The combination has an assembled state in which the stem's free end is received in said receptacle. In that state the combination can be positioned with the second part to constitute a base of the assembly and the first part projects upwards to constitute an ornament. In a disassembled state of the combination, first part can be used a spinning top.
  • Said body can have various shape and is typically axiosymmetric. Thus, while rotating as a spinning top, the rotation is overall stable about the axis.
  • By one embodiment said body has an overall tapering configuration with its widest portion adjacent the stem. By another embodiment the body may also have a diverging portion extending from the stem to a mid-portion of the body and a converging portion extending therefrom to the tip. For example, said body may have an overall pyramidal shape, an overall conical shape and others. By a further embodiment the body may have a substantially even cross-section in a extending from the stem and another, converging portion ending at the tip.
  • The external, substantially radially-facing faces of the body may be smooth or may have corrugations, depressions, abutments, etc., typically formed according to an ornamental theme.
  • According to an embodiment of the invention, the body has a shape such that when viewed with the stem downwards, it resembles a Christmas tree.
  • By an embodiment of the invention, the body is shaped to have four distinct substantially radially-facing faces. Each such face may have an ornamental inscription. In accordance with an embodiment of the invention, the ornamental inscription is in the form resembling Hebrew letters. Optionally, such inscription is done in a manner to resemble shining Christmas tree decorations.
  • In one embodiment the second part has any three dimensional shape, having a receptacle for receiving the free end of the stem. Such a three dimensional shape may be symmetrical or irregular. According to an embodiment of the invention the second part has a shape resembling a gift rack comprising one or more gift packages.
  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
  • In order to understand the invention and to see how it may be carried out in practice, embodiments will now be described, by way of non-limiting example only, with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which:
  • FIG. 1 shows a combination according to an embodiment of the invention in an assembled state and resembling a Christmas tree.
  • FIG. 2 shows the combination in is a disassembled state.
  • FIG. 3 shows a top view from the direction of arrow III in FIG. 1.
  • FIG. 4 shows the first part in an inverted state in which it can be used as a spinning top.
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF EMBODIMENTS
  • Reference is made to the drawings showing a specific exemplary embodiment of the invention. The description of this embodiment herein is meant to illustrate the invention and is not intended to be limiting.
  • The combination 10 shown in FIGS. 1-3 includes a first part 12 and a second part 14. The first part 12 has a stem 16 and a body 18 which jointly resemble the shape of a Christmas tree. The second part 14 has a shape resembling a gift rack and has an opening 20 adapted to receive a free end 22 of the stem. Second part 14 serves as a base by which the combination may be positioned on a surface to serve as an ornament.
  • The body 18 has a generally pyramidal shape with converging side faces extending from its broad base 24 to a tip 26. The body has four, substantially radially-facing faces 28A, 28B, 28C and 28D.
  • Each of faces 28A . . . 28D bears an inscription, which in this specific embodiment consists of inscription elements 30 resembling Christmas tree decorations, arranged so as jointly to resemble Hebrew letters including the letters “Nun”, “Gimel”, “Heh” and “Shin” (or “Peh”), which are typically inscribed on spinning top used traditionally as part of the festivities in the Jewish holiday of Hanukah.
  • FIG. 4 shows the first part 12 in an inverted form in which it can be used as a spinning top.
