Abstract
Garden and beach umbrella, usually used for protection from sun, as we need to cover a relatively large area to be used by several persons the umbrella should be large enough to achieve this task, therefore the intensive wind currents usually have bad effects on the stability of this kind of umbrellas due to its relatively large covering area. Creating gaps or holes through the umbrellas surface can reduce or minimize the bad effects of the wind against the umbrella while it still capable to protect users against direct sun. The present invention relates to a “See Through Umbrella”, which is an umbrella with a surface consists of several concentric polygons of fabric stripes of well designed width and fixed distance separating each adjacent two stripes to allow wind currents to pass through the surface easily leading to high degree of stability against blowing wind. This kind of umbrellas can be of two main different patterns either completely (as in FIG. 1) or partially (as in FIGS. 2 a and 2 b) covered with fabric stripes.
Description
- The present invention relates to a “See Through Umbrella”, which is a garden and beach umbrella with a new designed surface consists of several concentric polygons of fabric stripes of well designed width (vertical depth) and fixed distance separating each adjacent two stripes to allow wind currents to pass through the umbrella's surface easily leading to high degree of stability against blowing wind.
- The present invention is an umbrella provided with several concentric polygons of fabric stripes with a well designed width and a predetermined distance separating each two adjacent stripes (as in
FIGS. 1 & 2 a, 2 b and 2 c) to allow wind currents to pass through the surface easily leading to high degree of stability against blowing wind. - The fabric stripes are fixed to a number of ribs by means of fixing and tensioning units, as in FIG. (4).
- The fabric stripes cover of the umbrella is capable to obstruct the direct sun ray wherever and whenever the sun is slightly inclined of the summit.

FIG. 1 is a front view showing the “See Through Umbrella” which consists of ribs, cover (Polygons of fabric stripes), the main post, the open/close mechanism, fixing/tensioning unit and the base. -
FIGS. 2 a, 2 b and 2 c shows a front view, perspective and top view of a “See Through Umbrella” totally covered with a See Through cover. -
FIGS. 3 a and 3 b show a perspective and a top view of to patterns of “See Through Umbrella” with partial see through cover. -
FIG. 4 a shows the fixing and tensioning unit connected to a rib in close mode. This unit consists of a spring with its upper end connected to the rib while the other end (the lower one) connected to the stripe holder which holds the fabric stripe. -
FIG. 4 b shows the fixing and tensioning unit connected to a rib in open mode. -
FIG. 4 c shows a section in the stripe holder and the direction of the force applied by the spring on fabric stripe. - Garden and beach umbrella, usually used for protection from sun, as we need to cover a large area to be used by several persons the umbrella should be large enough to achieve its task. Therefore, the intensive wind currents usually have bad effects on the stability of this kind of umbrellas due to its relatively large covering area.
- The expected bad effects of the wind currents can cause either unstable status or a serious damage for umbrella's components
- In order to overcome of the bad wind effects against the umbrella, it has been provided with a new designed surface which consists of several concentric polygons of fabric stripes of well designed width (vertical depth) and fixed distance separating each adjacent two stripes to allow wind currents to pass through the surface easily leading to high degree of stability against blowing wind which means reducing or minimizing the bad effects of the wind against the umbrella while it still capable to protect things against direct sun ray.
- The “See Through Umbrella” provided with several concentric polygons of fabric stripes as in
FIG. 1 all these stripes have a pre-designed width (or vertical depth) and they are parted from each other by a designed distance. - The fabric stripe polygons are mounted to a number of ribs as in
FIGS. 1 and 2 , by means of a number of “fixing and tensioning units” as inFIGS. 4 a, 4 b, and 4 c, each unit mounting one corner of a polygon to one of the ribs. The fixing and tensioning unit consists of two main parts: -
- The spring: with its upper end connected to the rib while the other end (lower end) is connected to the stripe holder as in
FIGS. 4 a and 4 b. All springs apply a radial push away from the main post of the umbrella to ensure straight tensioned sides of the fabric polygons as in FIG. (4 c). - The stripe holder which is responsible upon holding the fabric stripe as in
FIG. 4 c.
- The spring: with its upper end connected to the rib while the other end (lower end) is connected to the stripe holder as in
- The fabric stripes cover of the umbrella is capable to obstruct the direct sun ray wherever and whenever the sun is slightly inclined of the summit.
- The “See Through Umbrella” can be either totally covered with a see through cover as in
FIGS. 1 and 2 or it can be covered with a partial see through cover as inFIGS. 3 a and 3 b.
Claims (2)
1. “See Through Umbrella” is an umbrella of a surface consists (completely or partially) of concentric polygons of fabric stripes mounted perpendicularly to the umbrella's ribs.
2. The fabric stripes are fixed to the ribs of the umbrella by a special fixing and tensioning units which ensure straight tensioned portions of the fabric stripes in between each two units during the open mode.
