Abstract

This invention for Lifting/Lowering the Toilet Seat has a unique mechanical design that Operates with the gears. The “Larger Driver gear(s)” with a smaller rotary motion will Move The Smaller “Driven gear(s)” which is integrated part of the toilet seat. The Driver Gear(s) on a shaft is mounted on the brackets and a Base Plate. The whole Driver Gear Assembly is mounted on the Toilet Bowl existing holes used for mounting The Toilet Seat. As an option: 1) A handle can be connected to the shaft and the handle height is adjustable to reduce Or Eliminate Stooping while Lifting/Lowering the Toilet Seat. 2) Or the shaft can be connected to a Foot Pedal Linkage, no stooping required. 3) Or the Driven Gear(s) can be directly driven by the Driver Gear(s), a subassembly of The motor/electronics assembly for an Automated Operation.

Description

    BACKGROUND OF INVENTION
  • Drawback with the existing design toilet seats such as:
      • 1) Stooping or bending for lifting/lowering the toilet seat every time a person has to use the toilet. It is very difficult for an old person or a person with a back Problem.
      • 2) It is not very hygienic to touch a dirty toilet seat with your fingers. Many men are Just lazy or not very health conscientious. They do not lift the seat and Spatter The urine all over the seat.
        Proposed Improvements:
  • The above mentioned unfavorable conditions led me to come up an alternate Design that I think, will definitely Improve the quality of life. My invention is very practical and would reduce or eliminate stooping while Lifting/Lowering the Toilet Seat as well eliminates direct contact to a dirty toilet seat.
  • This invention should be implemented as a mandatory solution to solve above mentioned problems in all the common public wash rooms in the Hospitals, Gas Stations, Restaurants and etc. Of course in the homes its MUST.
  • History:
  • I conceived this idea of Lifting/Lowering toilet seat by means of gears on Feb. 7, 2003.
  • Built a partial-working prototype after a few months in the year 2003.
  • Submitted to USPO the Provisional Application for Patent on Jun. 28, 2004.
  • Received from USPO the letter “Receipt of Acknowledgement dated Jul. 6, 2004.
  • SUMMARY
  • This patent covers the Gear Assisted Mechanism for Lifting/Lowering the toilet Seat Assembly mounted on a Toilet Bowl by means of a Handle, or Foot Pedal, or Motorized/Electronics System connected to the mechanism.
  • Gears Assisted Mechanism System can be part of any type of toilet bowl (Short, Elongated, Etc.), Bidet and/or seats (Hot, Hydraulic etc.) and other applications where Cover Lifting/Lowering is required.

  • DESIGN DESCRIPTION
  • The Gears Assisted Mechanism where the “Driven Gear Assembly” is the Integrated part of the Toilet Seat and the “Driver Gear Assembly” is mounted on The Toilet Bowl. Driver Gear Shaft may be connected with a “Handle” or “Foot Pedal Linkage” or Motor Control/Electronics to Lift/Lower the Toilet Seat. The Various “Options” or “Models” are explained as follows:
    • A) “Handle” to Lift/Lower the Seat is mounted on the “Driving Gear” Mechanism Shaft (See det#3). The “Driving Gear” drives the “Driven Gear” which is Mounted on the Shaft of the “Seat & Hinge Assembly” (See det# 1&2).
    • B) Same as “a” except handle is replaced with “Foot Pedal Linkage”.
    • C) Same as “a” except mechanism is “Motor/Electronics-Controlled” for Automatic Operation; no handle or foot pedal linkage is required but dual system is an Option.

Claims (2)
