Abstract
A toy barrier of the New Jersey traffic barrier style to provide children with a product for any number of applications. Analogous of existing highway traffic barrier with the exception of the size and the intended use. The toy may be filled with water, sand or any type of substance through a fill hole in the top of the barrier. The fill hole shall also act as the drain plug. Product uses would include, but would not be limited to, sand boxes, toy racetracks, playpen areas of containment, etc. Number of applications determined upon child's imagination.
Description
- This application is not a continuation; however a product reduced in size related to U.S. patent application Ser. No. 235675, filed Aug. 24, 1988, now U.S. Pat. No. 4,946,306.

- This invention is similar to that of a water-filled highway barrier of the New Jersey style, only that it is designed as a toy product for children to use for any number of applications.
- There are no determined toys of any similarity to the Guardian Toy Barrier.
- Products in similarity only in application do exist, such as sand boxes; however, no similarity in structure of design between said toy barrier and any sand box exist.
- It is an object of this invention to provide a toy that allows children use in any number of ways.
- It is another object of this invention to provide for connectivity between longitudinally extending containers in order to create linear, and/or polygonal shapes for applications thereof.
- It is still another object of this invention to provide hollow containers, which might be filled with any liquid or applicable solid for further application.

FIG. 1 : Aerial view of the invention. ( 1,2,3)Claim -
FIG. 2 : Side view of the invention. ( 1,2,3)Claim -
FIG. 3 : Slanted angular view depicting male protrusion, showing top of female intrusion. ( 1,2,3)Claim -
FIG. 4 : Frontal view of invention. ( 1,2,3)Claim - CONTRUCTION OF TOY BARRIER: The barrier is made using the rotational molding, blow molding, or injection molding method to ensure water tightness integrity. For the purposes of providing shape relationship, it is 10″ in height with a base width of 6″. The length is 18″ with an additional 1⅜″ protrusion on one end to form the male connection. Opposite the male end is a 1⅜″ intrusion of the same shape to accept the male protrusion to form a continuous wall connection. The barrier has, in the center, a filling hole, which is to be approximately 1½″ in diameter. The sides of the barrier have three sloping surfaces, the topmost and bottommost being nearly vertical and the middle surface being approximately 25 degrees from vertical. The lower sloping surface will terminate at the top of an 2″ vertical rise. The middle sloping surface begins at this 2″ mark and rises to 4½″ below the top of the barrier. The upper sloping surface accounts for this 4½″ section. On the bottom of the barrier there shall be a total of five slots of two different dimensions in order to keep the form of a traditional barrier. All comers in all areas of the barrier shall have no less than 1″ radius. The barrier shall have the appearance of a highway traffic barrier of the New Jersey style. The barriers shall be made in multiple sizes; however, will hold the above described shape perspective.
- INTENT: It is the intent of this specification to describe a toy system that is a replication of a large currently used traffic barrier on which Armorcast Products Company holds the patent.
- SCOPE: This specification recognizes the need for a small child's toy to be shaped in the same manner as a traffic barrier, for such applications as; sand box design, play area containment, creation of quasi construction zone, etc.
- CONTRUCTION: The barrier is made using the rotational molding, injection molding, or blow molding method to ensure water tightness integrity. For the purposes of providing shape relationship only, it is 10½″ in height with a base width of 6″. The length is 18″ with an additional 1⅜″ protrusion on one end to form the male connection. Opposite the male end is a 1⅜″ intrusion of the same shape to accept the male protrusion to form a continuous wall connection. The barrier has, in the center, a filling hole, which is to be approximately 1″ in diameter. The sides of the barrier have three sloping surfaces, the topmost and bottommost being nearly vertical and the middle surface being approximately 25 degrees from vertical. The lower sloping surface will terminate at the top of a 2″ vertical rise. The middle sloping surface begins at this 2″ mark and rises to 4½″ below the top of the barrier. The upper sloping surface accounts for this 4½″ section. On the bottom of the barrier there shall be approximately five ports to keep the appearance of a traditional barrier. All comers in all areas of the barrier shall have no less than 1″ radius. The barrier shall have the appearance of a miniature traffic barrier, or New Jersey style barrier.
- MATERIAL: Plastic of any polymer blend.
- ULTRAVIOLET LIGHT: An ultraviolet light inhibitor is introduced into the raw material mix so as to provide sufficient protection to ensure reasonable life of the product in outside weather conditions.
- COLORS: Any color on the pantone coloring schedule is available.
Claims (3)
1. A toy barrier structure comprising:
a longitudinally extending container having a base, a pair of side walls, a pair of end walls, and a top portion, said container being substantially hollow and comprising a semi-rigid plastic material whereby said container is self-supporting and has a predetermined shape;
filling means for filling said substantially hollow container with a liquid, whereby said filling of said container with said liquid would substantially increase weight without changing predetermined shape;
each of said end walls shall have apertures adapted to provide fluid connectivity between said longitudinally extended container and a second longitudinally extended container placed in juxtaposition with said longitudinally extended container.
2. The toy barrier structure in claim 1 wherein said semi-rigid plastic is selected from any polymer plastic material.
3. That which is described in claims 1, and 2 is for use as a toy to provide entertainment to children, with such application only limited by the imaginative mind.
