4 Claims.
This invention relates to improvements in menu holders adapted to be detachably secured to a napkin dispensing case, and more particularly to an adjustable holder which may be fitted to various sizes of napkin dispensing cases, and may be readily dismantled when desired.
An object of the invention is to provide an improved menu holder for napkin dispensing cases, which will be arranged for clamping to various sizes of napkin dispensing cases, and may be made with or Without a spring tensioned body portion which is adapted to lie adjacent the side of the napkin dispensing case to positively hold the menu card in position on the said case.
A further object of the invention is to provide an improved menu holder for napkin dispensing cases, which will be formed with a pair of adjustable clamping elements adapted to engage the opposite sides of a napkin dispensing case, to firmly and positively hold the said holder in its operative position.
A still further object of the invention is to provide an improved menu holder for attachment to a napkin dispensing case, which will be highly eflicient in operation, and quite inexpensive to manufacture.
Other objects will appear as the description proceeds.
In the accompanying drawings which form a part of my application,
Figure l is a side elevation of my improved menu holder showing the same attached to a napkin dispensing case;
Figure 2 is a front elevation of the menu holder showing the same attached to a napkin dispensing case;
Figure 3 is a rear elevation of the menu holder proper;
Figure 4 is a detail sectional view of the clamping means for attaching the menu holder to a napkin dispensing case;
Figure 5 is a modified form of menu holder showing the same attached to a napkin dispensing holder;
Figure 6 is a front elevation of the modified form of menu holder showing the same attached to a napkin dispensing case; and
Figure '7 is a group perspective view of the several parts of the clamping means for attaching the menu holder to a napkin dispensing case. Like characters of reference are used throughout the following specification and the accompanying drawings to designate corresponding parts.
In carrying out my invention, I provide a body member I which is transversely grooved as at 2 adjacent its lower end, and is flared out- Wardly as at 3 at its upper end.
The means for clamping the body member I to a napkin dispensing case 4 at its opposite sides, comprises, a guide member 5 formed With a central opening 6, and with oppositely disposed side flanges l, terminating in the bendable finger portions 8. The flanges i will be cut-away as at 9, to add flexibility to the structure. A resilient spring member I is adapted to seat within the guide member 5, and is likewise formed with a central opening H, which will line up with the opening 6 in the guide member 5. Next in position Within the guide member 5, will be a clamping member I2 formed with an elongated slot l3 at its inner end, and with a bent clamping end I i at its outer extremity. A Washer l will then be placed on the member l2, with its central opening it alined with the other openings. A second clamping member I! formed like the clamping member l2, Will be placed in position, and will have an elongated slot l8 and a clamping end 59 at its outer end. Finally, an elongated nut member 20, with a threaded central opening 2! will be placed in position, and the ears or finger portions 8 will be bent down on the several portions of the clamping means as best illustrated in Figure 3 of the drawings. A threaded bolt 22 will be inserted from the outside of the clamping means, through the alined openings in the various parts, I and will thread into the nut 20. A suitable key 23 will be employed to tighten the several parts of the clamp when the same is being adjusted to fit a napkin dispensing case, it being understood that the terminal ends of the clamping members l2 and ll will engage the opposite edges of the napkin case.
In Figures 5 and 6, I have illustrated a modified form of my menu holder, and comprises the addition of a hinge joint being made in the body member I just above the clamping means, and includes a hinge pin 23 and tensioning springs 24 at the opposite ends, whereby the body portion of the holder will resiliently engage the menu when in position tohold the same in place. The ends of the springs 24 will engage the opposite portions of the body member, as clearly illustrated in Figure 5 of the drawings.
It will be understood that my improved menu holder Will be quickly and readily adjustable to fit various sizes of napkin dispensing cases.
Many minor changes in detail of construction may be resorted to without departure from the spirit of the invention.
Having thus described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States is:
1. In combination with a napkin dispensing case having edge flanges, a menu holder comprising a body portion formed with a transverse groove adjacent its lower end and having its upper end lying adjacent the side of the napkin case between which a menu may be held, and
clamping arms adjustably secured Within said groove engaging the said edge flanges of the napkin dispensing case.
2. In combination with a napkin dispensing case having edge flanges, a menu holder comprising a body portion formed with a transverse groove adjacent its lower end and having its upper end lying adjacent the side of the napkin case between which a menu may be held, and resiliently tensioned transverse clamping arms adjustably secured within said groove engaging the said edge flanges of the napkin dispensing case.
3. In combination with a napkin dispensing case having edge flanges, a menu holder comprising a body portion formed with a transverse groove adjacent its lower end and having its upper end lying adjacent the side of the napkin case between which a menu may be held, and clamping means housed within said transverse groove, comprising a perforated guide member, a tensioning element, oppositely extending clamping arms, and a nut, means extending through said body portion, guide member, tensioning element, and clamping arms and. threaded into said nut, and said clamping arms being capable of adjustment to engage and clamp onto various sizes of napkin dispensing cases.
4. The combination as set forth in claim 3, and means for resiliently tensioning the upper portion of the body portion whereby the same will exert a pressure towards a menu card when in position between the said body portion and the adjacent side of the napkin dispensing case.
