Description

RING WATCH Filed July 25 1936 3%" 4 film '1 6 J 2 7 u v I 1 II J z z? Inventor Jbaqviz 722 /012 By M m Attorneys Patented Jan. 5, 1937 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE "laims.
The present invention relates to and useful improvements in ring watche and has for its primary object to provide, a manner as hereinafter set forth, an article oi. this character embodying novel means for substantially enclosing and protecting the winding stem crown in a manner to prevent the same from catching on clothing or other fabric and to facilitate putting a glove on the hand.
Other objects of invention are to provide a ring watch of the aforementioned character which will be comparatively simple in construc tion, durable, compact, easy to wind, attractive in appearance and which may be manufactured at low cost.
All of the foregoing and still further objects and advantages of the invention will become apparent from a study of the following specification, taken in connection with the accompanying drawing wherein like characters of reference designate corresponding parts throughout the sev eral views, and wherein:-
Figure 1 is a top plan view of a ring watch constructed in accordance with the present in-- vention.
Figure 2 is a view in side elevation thereof.
Figure 3 is a vertical sectional view, taken substantially on the line 3-3 of Figure 1.
Referring now to the drawing in detail, it will be seen that the embodiment of the invention which has been illustrated comprises a finger band i of suitable metal having mounted thereon a rim 2 of any suitable shape and size. The refeience numeral 3 designates a watch of any suit 6 able shape and size which is engageable in the rim 2 and which is hingedly connected at one end to said rim, as at 4.
The end portions of the band I have formed therein chambers 5 immediately adjacent opposite sides of the rim 2. One or the chain July 29, 1936, Serial No. 93,279
hers 5 is for the reception of the crown 6 o! the watch 3, said one chamber communicating with the interior of the rim 2 through a notch I in said rim. The notch 1 accommodates the winding stem 8 of the watch 3.
It will thus be seen that with the watch 3 engaged in the rim 2 the crown 6 will be substantially enclosed in one of the chambers 5 in a manner to prevent said crown from catching on articles, such as clothing. When it is desired to wind or set the watch it is only necessary to swing the same out of the rim 2 on the hinge 4 to substantially the position shown in dotted lines in Figure 1 of the drawing, thereby permitting the crown 6 to be gripped and operated.
It is believed that the many advantages of a ring watch constructed in accordance with the present invention will be readily understood, and although a preferred embodiment of the article is as illustrated and described, it is to be understood that changes in the details of construction may be resorted to which will fall within the scope of the invention as claimed.
What is claimed is:-
1. A ring watch comprising a finger band, a rim mounted on the band, and a watch hlngedly mounted onthe rim and engageable therein, said watch including a winding crown, the band having achamber therein for the reception of the crown.
2. A ring watch comprising a finger band, a rim on said band, and a watch hingedly mounted on rim and engageable therein, said watch including a winding stem and a crown on said stem, the rim having a notch therein for the reception of the stem, the band having a chamher therein communicating with the notch for the reception or the crown.
