Fig. 4 is a perspective view of the invention. In the embodiment selected to illustrate my invention, I make use of a standard I mountedupon a suitable support, not shown, and provided with-afoot rest l2. This equipment may be conventional and need not be described in further detail.

--My invention embodies a device for anchoring theshoe l4 to the foot rest 12. This device comprisesspring wire coiled to provide areach of convolutions 16 arranged to bear against the bottom side of the foot rest l2. One end of the wire is bent to provide a hook l8 arranged to pass over the sole 20 of the shoe ll. This hook comprises two parallel reaches 22 bent at 24 to position the hook l8 inwardly of the reach 01 convolutions l6.

One of the reaches 22 is bent at 26 toarrange a short reach 28 which may be passed between two convolutions of the grip 16. This connection tends to make. a more sturdy construction and lends stability to the hook l8.

The other end of the wire is bent'to provide a ring 30 comprising a number or convolutions. This ring provides a grip for operating purposes. The end of the wire is extended beyond the ring 30 and shaped to provide a hook 32 of the same type as the hook 18. The end of the wire is looped around the convolutions or the ring 30 at 34.

In operation the hook I8 is passed over the sole 20, and the clamp is stretched a suflicient distance to permit the hook 32 to be passed over the sole 20. The ring 30 provides a convenient grip for stretching the clamp and positioning the 5 hook 32 over the sole.

My invention embodies a single piece of wire shaped to. provide an eflicient clamp. This clamp may be associated with shoe shining equipment of conventional design, and the construction 10 eliminates the necessity for adjusting screws, clamp parts, etc. In addition the clamp is of such configuration and small proportions that the device may be-carriedin the pocket of the user. Thus, the clamp is always available and may be 15 -shifted from place to place with little or no inconvenience. v Without further elaboration, the foregoing will so fully explain my invention that others may, by

applying current knowledge, readily adapt the 20, same for use under various conditions of service.
