T E D TAT S PATENT OFFICE.
GEORGE M. MARKS,
OF PORT MATILDA, PENNSYLVANIA.
.IMPROVEMENT IN HAME-FASTENERS.
Specification forming pastor Letters Patent N0. 205,114, dated June 18, 1878; application filed May 7, 1878.
To all whom it may concern 1- Be it known that I, GEO. M. MARKS, of Port Matilda, in the county of (lent'r'e and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in HameFa-steners and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, which form a part of this specification, and in which- Figure l is a perspective view of a hame having my improved fastener attached thereto, and Fig. 2 is a plan View of the fastener detached.
Bimilar letters of reference denote corresponding parts in both figures.
This invention relates to an improved harnefastener which shall be simple, durable, and easily operated.
It consists in the construction and arrangement of parts which I shall now proceed more fully to describe with reference to the drawings, in which- A is the hame. B is a long, narrow, triangular loop or link, hinged to one side of the hame, as shown, by a small plate or cap, 0, having a bearing in which the link may swing. The link B is connected with another link, 0,
one of the sides of which is depressed, as shown in the drawings, so as to form a fork, c e. B is a third link, which, like B, is interlocked with 0. bis a small hooked plate secured to the side of the hame opposite cap a.
After adjusting the hame in position the link B is adjusted upon the hook I), and the link 0 is then drawn down to the position shown in Fig. 1, thus drawing the links B B closely together, and thus securing the hame in position. To undo it, it is only necessary to push the lower end of link 0 to one side, after which the link B may be readily unhooked.
Having thus described my invention, I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States- The combination of the 'hame A, links B B (J, of the construction herein described, plate or cap 0, forming a bearing for the link B, and the hooked plate I), all arranged and operating substantially as herein set forth, for the purposes shown and specified.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own I have hereto affixed my signature in presence of two witnesses.
GEO. M. MARKS.
Witnesses WM. RIDDLE, SAML. J ONES.
