Claims.
This invention relates particularly -to bending rolls machines, such machines being commonly employed for forming sheet metal pipes, which may be either corrugated or non-corrugated.

Machines for forming large sheet metal pipes areV ordinarily of heavy construction. To enable the pipe to be removed from the roll about which -the sheet metal is bentv into tubular form, the
bearing at one end of the roll is made withdrawable to enable the formed pipe to be slipped on the roll. It is known practice, also, to provide means for shifting from its normal position the roll about which the pipe is formed, after the bearing at one end of the roll has been Withdrawn. I
The primary object of the present invention is to facilitate the withdrawal and the return to normal position of the removable bearing of the roll, thus facilitatingthe work, in the case 1 of heavy machines, ofrernoving the pipe from the machine after it has been formed.

In the embodiment illustrated, A designates a frame, shown as comprising longitudinal basemembers A', main end-standards A2 and A3, and
40 an intermediate standard A4, these standards being carried by the longitudinal base-members A'; A5, a swinging-standard mounted on a transverse pivot I carried by the main end-standard A5, the standard A5 being provided in its upper end with a bearing 2; B, a set of bending-rolls suitably supported in the frame, shown as comprising a lower roll B', a back-'roll B2, and a shiftable upper roll B3, the latter being the roll about which the pipe is to be formed.
The roll B is shown journaled in bearings 3 and 4 which are vertically adjustable in the standards A3 and A4, respectively. The roll B2 is mounted in adjustable bearings 5 with which the standards A3 and A4 are provided. 'I'he roll B3 has its front end-portion (drive end of machine)V journaled in bearings 6 and 1 forming a part of a yoke 8, the bearings being in the `form of eccentrics journaled in portions!! of the standards A2 and A4.
The yoke 8 may be moved through the medium .5 of a hand-lever I0 in a known manner to shift the roll B3 to a somewhat diagonal position after the standard A5 has been'swung to the full-line position shown in Fig. l. Shifting the rear end of the roll B3 laterally is aknown expedient for getting the roll sufficiently removed from normal position to enable the formed pipe to be removed from the roll.
The bearings 3 and 4 are vertically adjustable in a known manner through the medium of a f5, longitudinally disposed shaft I I whichis equipped with a hand-wheel IIa, said shaft being jour naled in brackets I2 carried by the standards A3 and A4. The bearings are carried by vertical screws I3 which are actuated by nuts formed in 20 -bevel-pinions I4 which are actuated by bevelpinions I5 secured on the shaft Il. The shaft II is disposed medially at the lower portions of the standards A3 and A4; and the bevel-pinions are housed below the medialportions of the 25 standards mentioned. i
Adjustment of the bearings 5 is accomplished through mechanism I6, in known manner.
A shaft Il, equipped with a largegear I8, serves to actuate the rolls through the medium ,1 30 of pinions I9 which gear the rolls positively together. The large gear I8 may be actuated by a pinion driven by a suitable motor, or in any desired manner.
The swinging standard A5 which is located 35 outside the main end-standard A3 is normally secured in vertical position in any desired manner. As shown in Fig. 2, the casting of the endstandard A3 is provided with heavy lugs 20 whose lower ends support the pivot I; and the stand- 40 ard A5, in the normal position, is housed between the vertical surfaces 2I afforded by said lugs. A locking-disk 22 is shown supported on a pivot 23. This locking-disk drops by gravity to the locking position shown in Fig. 2. It may 45 be swung away from this position through the medium of a stud 24 to unlock the swinging standard A5.
Depending from the standard A5 is an angularform counterweight C, which is shown as corn- 50 prising a bent arm 25, having one end secured, as by bolts 255, to the standard A5, and having the other end equipped with a weight 26 secured to the lower end of the arm, as by bolts 21. The elbow 28 of the arm 25 accommodates the lower 55 having a stem 2Gb which is secured to the lower` end of the arm 25.
