The securing member, which I will designate generally 25 and which is illustrated in Fig. 6, is formed from a blank, 23, of generally circular formation with prongs, 27, protruding outwardly therefrom. Through a series of drawing operations, this blank is cupped, as illustrated in Fig. 9, with a drawn-up projection, 28, and flange, 29. This projection, 28, is further drawn up into its finished form, 30, as illustrated in Fig. 10, in

bent inwardly together with the prongs as at 31 in Fig. 11, and finally this flange, 29, becomes an inwardly-extending portion, 32, doubled back upon the plate, 33, with the prongs, 27, extending outwardly at right angles to the plate, 33, and doubled back portion, 32.
The securing member, as thus formed, is positioned within the flange, 19, of the body, 16, while its projection, 30, substantially fits within the fingers, 22, to maintain them against the edge of the opening, 18, while the plate, 33, of my securing member holds the outwardly turned ends of these fingers firmly against the under surface of the plate 1'7, by being forced thereagainst by the inward rolling of the edge, 35, of the flange 19. The prongs, 27, extend from the opposite side of the body of the device from that from which the skeleton dome projects and are located inwardly from the periphery thereof allowing a marginal portion over which the rolled edge, 35, may extend.
These prongs, 27, are sharp and pointed as at 36 at their ends and may be forced through a piece of fabric, such as 15, making their entry without the fabric having been previously perforated, after which they may be rolled outwardly, as at 3'7, see Fig. 2, while the points, 36,
may extend upwardly again if desired to clinch the parts in the fabric.
The foregoing description is directed solely towards the construction illustrated, but I desire it to be understood that I reserve the privilege of resorting to all the mechanical changes to which the device is susceptible, the invention being defined and limited only by the terms of the appended claim.
I claim:
A stud for a snap fastener comprising a body member having a fiat circular plate with an opening in its center, a wall extending downwardly from the outer edge of th plate, a cage member having a plurality of resilient fingers, each bowed outwardly and forming a skeleton dome on the upper side of the plate of said body member, said fingers each extending through the opening in the plate and havin portions contacting with the edges of the opening and the free end portions extending outwardly to lie along the under surface of the plate and parallel thereto and a securing member comprising a plate closely fitted within the wall. of the body member and provided with a drawn-up projection extending between the fingers of said cage member and contacting the inner surfaces thereof to hold them against the edge of said opening, the outer edge of the plate of said securing member being doubled back upon itself with prongs protruding downwardly from the free edge of the doubled back portion, the wall of said body member having its edge extending inwardly over the under side of the plate of said securing member to hold the same tightly against the outwardly extending ends of the fingers of said cage member and bind all of said members together,
