Sept. 19, 1933. R. D. SHAW INNER WRAP PAPER HOLDER Filed Oct. 10, 1932 ATTORNEY Patented Sept. 19, 1933 UNITED STATES 1,927,718 I INNER .WVRAP PAPER HOLDER Roy D. Shaw, Elsinore, Calif.
Application October 10, 1932. Serial No. 637,162
1 Claim.
The invention relates to a paper holder and more especially to an inner wrap waxed paper holder and dispenser.
The primary object of the invention is the provision of a holder of this character; wherein sheets of waxed paper may be conveniently held so that the same can be dispensed for use as an inner wrap for meats or'other perishable merchandise, the sheets being confined in a novelv manner and are readily accessible for single deport and when not in use will be out or" the way, yet the same can be swung to a position for the dispensing singly of inner wrap waxed sheet paper ordinarily employed in the wrapping of meats or other merchandise, the sheets of paper being held conveniently ready for use and is advantageous to butchers or the like.
A further object of the invention is the provision of a holder of this character which is extremely simple in construction; thoroughly reliable and efficient in its purpose, strong, durable, readily and easily manipulated, and inexpensive to manufacture.
With these and other objects in view, the invention consists in the features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described in detail, illustrated in the accompanying drawing, which discloses the preferred embodiment of the invention, and pointed out in the claim hereunto appended.
In the accompanying drawing:
Figure 1 is a vertical sectional view through a support showing the holder constructed in accordance with the invention applied thereto and in normal position.
Figure 2 is a view similar to Figure 1 showing the holder adjusted for the removal singly of sheets of waxed paper therefrom during the merchandise of meats or other perishable merchandise.
Figure 3 is a sectional view on the line 33 sponding parts throughout the several views in the drawing.
Referring to the drawing in detail, A designates generally a portion ofan upright constituting a support to which is applied the holder constituting the present invention and hereinafter fully described.
The'holder comprises a plate-like base 10 pref erably made from sheet metal cut andbent at its lower corners to provide outstanding pivot ears 11 for the connection therewith of a swinging body 12, the latter being made from sheet.- metal and is bent to form a tray having the sides 13 and end 14 respectively, the-opposite end being open and this tray is adaptedto ac commodate a stack of waxed sheet paper 15 as is clearly shown in Figure 2 of the drawing.
The sides 13 of the body 12 next'to the end i 14 thereof have projecting laterally therefrom pivot studs 16, these being journaled in the cars 11 so that the body can be swung upwardly and inwardly against the base 10 or pulled outwardly and downwardly for access to the paper 15 contained therein. The sheets of paper 15 are extracted or pulled outwardly from the body 12 through the open end 1'7 thereof.
Working against the stack of paper, 15 is a follower plate 18whichis carried upon a spring arm l9, the same being fixed to or integrally formed with the end 14 of the body 12 at a medial point thereof, the arm 19 being fitted with a spring finger 20 which plays againstv the plate 18 and holds the same flat against the stack of paper '15. stack 15 is readily removed by pulling the same outwardly from the open end 17 of the body 12 on the lowering thereof to a dispensing position as shown in Figure 2 of. the drawing, the I normal position of the body 12 being shown in Figure 1 of the drawing.
Formed on the base 10 at its opposite side edges-near the uppermost portion thereof are spring finger-like keepers or latch members 21, each having an aperture 22 therein to accommodate a lug 23 formed on and projected outwardly from each side13 of the body 12; These lugs on the swinging of the body 12 upwardly and inwardly against the base 10 will snap into the openings 22 in the members 21 which latter I? will latch the body 12 in its raised normal posi- 05 tion so that the body will be out of the way when not in use for the dispensing of the sheets of paper 15 therefrom as should be clearly obvious.
The uppermost sheet of the lugs 23 into the openings 22 in said members 21 for the latching of the door 12 in raised position.
' The follower plate 18 sustains the sheets of paper 15 of the stack compact and srriooth in their superimposed relation in' the stack.
The lugs 23 are positioned on the sides 13 of the body 1 2 for positive engagement with the members 21 which as previously stated latch the body 12 in its raised normal position.
What is claimedis:
A holder of the character described comprising a plate-like base formed from a single sheet of material bent at its lower corners to provide outstanding pivot ears, a swinging body made from a single piece of material bent to form a 1,927,718 curled free ends 24 to permit the riding of the tray having'sides and an end with the opposite end open, pivot studs projecting laterally from the sides of the swinging body and journaled in the ears for the swinging upwardly and inwardly of said'body against the base, a follower plate carried within the swinging body, a spring -carried by the base and engageable with the sides of the body to hold the same normally closed against the said base.
