My invention relates to improvements in egg heaters, and it consists of the combinations, constructions and arrangements hereinafter described and claimed.

An objectof my invention is to provide an improvement over my'patent on an egg beater, Patent No. 1,742,230, issued January .7, 1930. In the patent, I showed beating elements carried I by shanks, which were remo vably secured to a body portion. In the present invention, I show a similar arrangement, but provide stops for limiting the movement of the shanks in the supporting sleeves. The stops are carried by a bracket, which, in turn, is secured to the body portion.

The body portion is supported by a handle, which is secured thereto.

Another feature of the invention lies in the I hinging of the beaters so that the pairs of beaters can first be removed from the shanks and then the heaters in each .pair be swung into open position so as to be readily cleaned.

Other objects and advantages will appear in the following specification, and the novel features of the device will be particularly pointed out in the appended claims. I

In carrying out my invention, I provide a body 1 portion 1, to which I secure a handle 2- of the shape shown. A bracket 3 is carried by the body portion 1 and has ears 4 for supporting a stub shaft 5.

.A driving gear 6 is mounted on the shaft 5 l and is manually rotated by means of a-handle 7.

Thegear 6 is designed to. mesh with a small bevel gear 8, and the gear 8 is designed to mesh with otherwise secured to the gear 8. The U-shaped portion of the element 10 is circular in shape, as

that is removably received in'an eyelet 18 in the member 10. The members 10 and 16 have enough spring quality to cause the projection 17 to snap.

(see Figure 6). In this way, the members 10 and 16 are held in adjusted position.

A U-shaped support 19 has shanks 20, and these shanks are passed through registering eyelets 17 and 18 and through openings in the gears 8 and 9. The shanks project above the gears 8. and 9 and are received in sleeves 21 that are formed from portions of the body 1.

The sleeves have slots 22 therein, and a springpressed keeper 23 has catches 24 for entering notches 25 in the shanks 20. Thekeeper 23 is carried by a spring-pressed rod 26, and the rod, in turn, is provided with a push button 27. I

In order to properly position the notches 25 with respect to the slots 22, I provide stops 28 on the bracket} and these stops limit the movement of the shanks 20 in the sleeves 21. When the notches 25 are in registration with the slots 22, a spring 29 will move the keeper 23 so as to secure the shanks to the body portion. The device is now ready for use. I

From the foregoing description of the various parts of the device, the operation thereof may be readily understood.

The egg beater can be used in the usual manner, and when the operator wishes to clean it, the push button 27 is depressed, and this frees the shanks 20. The pairs of beating. elements 30 can now be removed and the elements of each pair can be swung apart, as shown in Figure 5, for ready cleaning. After cleaning, the device can be reassembled in the manner already described.

While I have shown only the preferred form of my invention, it should be understood that various changes or modifications may be made within the scope of the appended claims without eparting from'the spirit of the invention.

I claim:

1. In an egg beater, a U-shaped beating element having its shanks secured together, and a recess in its U-shaped end, a second U-shaped beating ire -srizs rarer reins I the Wall of the recess and the projection having openings designed to register for receiving the shank of a supporting member;

3. In an egg heater, a pair of symmetrical U- shaped heating elements mounted for rotary movement abeut a common axis passing bet-Wee the shanks, one element being arranged at right angles to the other and being hingedly secured thereto at the shank ends of the elements.
