In thesedrawings the base 10 has an upright 11 thereon to receive the shaft 12 on which is mounted a supply roll 13 of tape.
Likewise mounted on this base are side plate`s14, 15 which support the various shafts for the feeding system. Extending transversely through the machine is the main gear shaft 16 having a large gear 17 at oney end there of in mesh with the small gear 18 mounted on va lower shaft 19 and having also fixed thereto a twin gear 2,0 which meshes with the upperftwin gear 21 on an upper feed shaft 22.
Likewise meshing withv the main gear y17 isa lower gear 23 on the lower delivery shaft 24. The delivery gear 23 meshes with the delivery "gear 25 on the upper-delivery shaft 26.
1 On the shafts 19 and 22,between the plates 14 15, are provided the pairs of feed rollers 2'?, 28 which preferably are of soft basey material` such as rubber in yorder to afford a proper frictiona-l grip upon the tape. Likewise, onl the shafts 24, 26 are provided friction rolls 29, 30 which likewise engage. the check asit-is being delivered. v v
VBetween the'rolls 27, 28 and 29, 30 is prosevered from the tape. This upper apron 33 is'likewise bent at itsy sides and lits on top of the side plates 14, 15 and is secured thereto by screws 34. At the end of the plate 33 which p is first encountered by the tape areprovided a i pair offingers l35.(ld`ig. 1)v for engagement in slots of the tape as will be desciibedr in detail hereinafter.
At the feeding side of the rolls v27, 28 is icc (Fig. 1) and serves to receive and guide the tape in its travel through the machine and to prevent it from being forced downwardly. This member is provided with a notch 42 for the reception of the tearing arm as will be described hereinafter. A top plate 43 issecured to the extension of plate 40 by screws 44 and serves in cooperation with plate 40 to hold the tape in proper rectilinear lposition as -it is being delivered into the feeding and discharge rolls.-
The side plates 14,` are preferably held spaced by the bolts 45 and collars 46 in the usual manner. A
Loosely mountedon the .shaft 22 of .the upper feed rolls is a metal trough-like `member 50 having formed integral therewith an arcuately rbent tearing arm .-51. To this member 50 is secured by a screw 52 the clamp piece 53 so that between ,the members@ and 53 a frictional engagement is produced with respect to the tape 22 so that the tearing 4arm :51 is carried in rotation on the shaft 22 when not opposedby a force suiicient to cause the relative rotation of these miembers.

In operation, the `ticket strip or tape comprising pluralities of tickets oined as shown in Fig. 8 is fed between the guide plates 40,
43 (Figs. 1 and 2) linto position between the feed rollers 27., 23.v The master lgear 17 is then rotated irn a counterclockwise direction (Fig. 2) by hand so that it -drives the small gear 13 and therewith the twin lgears 20, 21
and the rollers 27, 28 which engage withv the tape adjacent its edges and cause it .to be fed forward toward the right in Figs. 1 and 2. The advancing end of the ticket tape normally passes of itself between the `lingers 35 and Ythe lower plate 31, which as Vshown in Fig. 3

The arm swings from the full line position shown in Fi-g. 3 through the dotted line position therein and ultimately assumes the position shown in Fig. 4 in which it has engaged with the foremost ticket or check in the same transverse line as the slots 71. Owing to the engagement of the foremost ticket with the rolls 29, 30, this foremost ticket is now delayed, ywhile ithe knext succeeding ticket is ad- 35 so that these fingers tend to enter the slots,
being assisted in this by the upward bending ofthe rear edges of these slots (Fig. 7). As the tickets are continuously fed forward, the fingers 35 penetrate into the slots and cause a tearing of the material of the tape at the points along the dotted lines 7 5 in Fig. 8 by reason of the traction through the foremost ticket A, and therewith also the fingers 35 cause the tabs 70a (Fig. 9) formed byV the webs 7 0 and the portions lying within the respective pairs of dotted lines 75 to be .folded backward over the top of the succeeding ticketto which they are integrally joined,
so that they do not project laterally to ob- Y struct or impede the properly guided for- War-.d movement of the ticket B, and hence rated f -rom the next following ticket.
A slight further movement of the master gear 17 causes the advancing edge of this foremost ticket to project so that it may be grasped between the thumb and finger (Fig. 3). It will particularly be noted that by reason of the frictional relationship of the arm 51 with shaft 22, the rolly. guide means for the .tape between said rolls.

What is claimed:
1. A check dispensing apparatus including feeding and delivery means for a tape, and
positive motion transmitting devices con# necting said means so that they are operated continuously together at different speeds,
whereby the tape is caused to be fed faster than it is delivered from the apparatus.
2. A check dispensing apparatus including feeding and delivery rolls for a tape, and
positive motion transmitting devices connecting said means so that they are operated continuously together at different speeds, whereby the tape is caused to be fed faster than it is delivered from the apparatus.
3. A check dispensing apparatus including feeding rolls and delivery rolls and means to guide the tape between saidV rolls, and means whereby said rolls are operated positively together at different speeds so that the tape is caused to kink and overlap between said rolls.
