This invention comprehends the provision of a. clamp primarily intended for use ln stretching woven wire, such as fence Wire and the like, and is constructed to permit the clamp to be associated with or removed from the wire fabric with a minimum of both time and effort, and when in use effectively grip the wire so thatit cannot slip from the clamp under any circumstances.
In carrying out theinvention, I preferably employ a clamping bar including spaced clamping portions arranged eccentrically of the longitudinal axis of the bar, so that when the bar is slightly rotated in one direction, it effectively clamps the wire fabric therebetween and a base member upon which the bar is mounted.
The invention further embodies a base member from which rise a plurality of bearing members for the bar of novel construction, so that the clamping bar can be quickly and conveniently associated with the base member or separated therefrom as the occasion may require.
Another object of the invention resides in the provision of a novel construction of means for attaching a chain to the bar for the purpose of rotating the latter for the purpose intended.
The nature and advantages of the invention will be better understood when the following detail description is read in connection with the accompanying drawing, the invention residing in the construction, combination and arrangement of parts as claimed.
In the drawing forming part of this application like numerals of reference indicate similar parts in the several views and wherein:

' The clamp forming the subject matter of my invention essentially embodies an elongated base member 10 which may be of any suitable material, and above which is arranged the clamping bar. This bar is indicated at 11jand includes'fspaced clamping portions 12 arranged eccentrically of the longitudinal aris of the ba'r and these portions may be grooved or serrated as atl3 to more effectively clamp the wovenjfabric 14 5b therebetween and the base 10.. By reason of this construction it is manifest that the clamping bar can be very easily and conveniently arranged upon the base 10 in operative relation to its bearing, or separated therefrom as the occasion may require. When the bar 11 is arranged against its hearing, it is adapted to be partially rotated in one direction to effectively clamp the wire woven fabric therebetween and the base 275 10, and this can be accomplished in any suitable manner. For this purpose I preferably employ a pair of draft chains 18 which are connected at corresponding ends by an eye or ring 19. The opposite end of each chain is provided with a similar ring 20 adapted to receive the hook-like extremity 21 of a bolt carried by the adjacent gripping portion 12 of the bar. Each of these bolts '22 is passed transversely throughthe adjacent gripping portion 12 of the bar as illustrated in Figure 2, and held associated therewith by spaced nuts 23 and 24 respectively. The nut 23 bears against the outer surface of said gripping portion. while the nut 24 is seated in a recess 25. so that this nut and adjacent end of the bolt are arranged inwardly of the periphery of said gripping portion. The draft chain 18 can be quickly attached to or removed from the hook-like extremities 21 of the bolts 22 when desired.
While it is believed that from the foregoing description the nature and advantages of v the invention will be readily apparent, I de- 7 sire to have it known that I do not limit myself to What is herein illustrated or described, and that such changes may be resorted to when desired as fall Within the scope of What is claimed 5 What is claimed is:
1. A clamp of the character described comprising an elongated base member, equidistantly, spaced rods rising from said member and having their upper extremities offset in parallelism With said member, and a bar having spaced portions of uniform diameter'engaging said offset extremities of the rods for partial rotation thereagainst, and including spaced clamping portions arranged eccentrically of the longitudinal axis of the bar.
2. A clamp of the character described comprising an elongated base member, equidistantly spaced rods rising from said member and having their upper extremities offset in parallelism with said member, a bar having spaced'portions of uniform diameter engaging said ofi'setextremities of the rods for partial rotation "thereagainst, and including spaced clamping portions arranged eccentrically'of the longitudinal axis of the bar, and bolts passed diagonally through said bar and provided With chain engaging hook-line extremities located at one side thereof.
